Federal Interagency Senior Pass - YES!

Just bought mine yesterday. Ain't it purdy?! I'm very excited to start using it. I've mapped out the 3 holiday weekends coming up and made reservations for 3 nights each weekend. I want to keep the rest of the summer in jello as much as possible, but those 3 weekends were already tight for open sites.

Memorial Day and Fourth of July will be half price with the pass ($9/night and $11/night :D :o :D ). Then Labor Day I'm going to add a state to my map -- heading to Montana to one of their state parks. All of the federal camping land with utilities in Montana is more than a 3-day weekend away :( and I'm not ready to start boondocking.

Heading out again tomorrow night for 2 nights, using my Washington State Off-Season Senior Pass and taking advantage of $6/night camping. That goes away at the end of this month. :(

I didn't think I could afford my goal of getting out in Joy twice a month, but maybe I can!

..

CONGRATULATIONS, Ellen! What a milestone.

The Golden Age pass rules say that the person whose name is on the card has to be traveling - that it can't be used by say, a spouse.

I have George in my living room.
Rules don't say he has to be alive, do they?
I could make an argument, I figure.

Congratulations!! So glad you have plans to use it soon. I sent my application and check for the pass a few days before my birthday. So I would be the right age when the processed it. We used it only a couple times on our AZ journey

Congrats, Ellen.....Ernie got his in Yellowstone last August and I received my DAV National Parks card in Ocala a few yrs. ago...so we're double covered.... ;) And have used them quite alot as some Military CGs honor them at 50%.....just have to ask... ;)

Now, go and enjoy the Natural Beauty of this great Nation....

Roadweaver - Go get yours, Louise - stop procrastinating! ;)

Mitch - I'm with ya, sistah! I'll back you all the way to the trial. (That's it. After that you're on your own!)

Marda - Yes, I'm pretty excited about being a Washington State senior.

Lori - Even with the Senior Pass, someone in the party still needs to be current or former Military, right?

What's been holding me back for a couple of years was my thought that I had to get it at a National Park. Those are in short supply around Spokane. (Granted, I could have gotten it by mail like you, Red, and the extra fee still only makes it $20.) Then I learned there are all kinds of places that have it. If you can find your magnifying glass and work your way through these pages, here's a link to EVERY place in the US that sells the pass: http://store.usgs.gov/pass/PassIssuanceList.pdf. I found a BLM office here in Spokane that has it.

Ellen, it's only good with the military if the senior pass holder is a retired military person ID card holder, too.....can not be used in conjunction with an active duty person and let's say his or her parents who are not retired military, but have the Sr. pass....

Example: Ernie & I are traveling with you in the same RV....he's retired Army with ID....Sr. pass is his.....we get the discount.... ;)
You are traveling with a relative who is active duty in same RV....Sr. pass is yours.......No Discount.....got to have that Retired Military ID.... :(

They are pretty picky about this....
