Well, thought I'd just add my opinion to the 'pot'.....I'm from Chicago where they have hot, humid summers, cold windy snow days and miles & miles of concrete...and did I mention mosquitoes.....(course I do miss the wonder of 'lightening' bugs)....miles & miles of concrete & buildings & people, people, people. Left there when I was young & don't care to go back (family all gone anyway). But it has some beautiful attractions that are definitely worth spending time to see.....
Love New York City which has similar stuff that Chicago has....definitely a place to see....Been to the tip of Florida when we had to fly in to meet a cruise ship....my daughter has relatives there....it has it's pluses but not a place I'd care to spend much time in...Loved going to Washington DC & that whole area....soooo many things to see & do ... relive our country's history, Wow! Wonderful area....Colorado with it's great Rocky mountains....oh my! beautiful....could live there but the snow & the cold is more than this old body can take anymore. Been through OK, TX, AZ, NM, NV, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and the other states in that area...different scenery, different people, different life styles...loved Iowa....people were absolutely great....
Anyhow, I've seen parts of the desert, camped there more than a few times, sadly during the hot temps...which I really can't handle anymore....it's not my favorite kind of environment and it is definitely different than most, but it has it's own kind of beauty which one can appreciate and compare to other environments....then there is the ocean, trees, mountains, sunshine, mild weather conditions (mostly) of California.....totally different than many other places....some may not like our freeways or some o our inhabitants or the prices of things....I happen to think it's a small paradise offering all kinds of beauty....and it is my preference to travel this area and Oregon and Washington (though haven't visited WA for many, many years)...
So my point is....this country of ours is made up of many different kinds of scenery....check them out...you can find awesome, magnificent landscape throughout....just open your eyes and feast upon what there is out there & appreciate it for it's beauty. Remember, you are usually passing through...you don't have to live there...and if what makes you happy is your own back yard....park your RV there for a spell and enjoy that too....life is short...beauty is everywhere...........
