TGIF day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TGIF day

Postby bluepinecones » Fri Apr 05, 2013 6:10 am

Good Morning
You are going to have to hurry if you want coffee here today as I've almost finished off the pot. Been up way too long. Lower back has bee bothering me a lot lately and interfering with sleep. I see the prospect of a nap this afternoon.
Still raining but news says the clearing line is around Memphis now and will reach Huntsville by mid day; afternoon to be dry and sunny for a change.
No big plans for the weekend other than need to go check on Magic, maybe get a few more things out that need to come home. Might also do some day dreaming about where to take her next.
May your day be more exciting than mine - that shouldn't be difficult for most of you.

Good Morning Sarah and everyone,

Not much exciting going on here today either. It's what I call a day off for me. Finished the painting here yesterday and am not getting into anymore, other than some touchups i need to do in my kitchen near my stove. Got some spots on that wall that won't wash off, so will just get out a brush and paint over them.

Otherwise not much doing today. Going to just putts around per say. I do have a chiropractor appt. this morning and a few errands to run, so will do that and maybe some browsing in Hobby Lobby, perhaps Home Depot and Loew's. Tomorrow's weatehr is supposed to be lousy, so will get back to doing some spring cleaning in here.

Sarah, you are thinking of places to head out with Magic, why not explore a bit north. I"m dreaming of another RV. Keeping my eye out. Just wish I had some more green available. But one never knows what might pop up.

Well, havea wonderful day all, enjoy making your summer travel plans. if you are on the road, enjoy the trip and drive safe.

Cloudy in central NC today....and Ernie twisted his ankle unloading the truck Weds. when we got here, so we'll just chill.....there's 3 flea markets here within 5 miles, so we'll rest up for checking them out tomorrow... ;)

This rv park is advertized as a RV Resort...NOT!....maybe a "want-to-be", but it's more like a trailer park....but the price is right and it is fairly tidy, but no bathouse or laundry.....good for a home base for touring Smithfield and to visit cousins in the area.... ;)

Well, but get in gear and get dressed for the day....doing ham & cheese omelets for breakfast...

Have a great day, all...

The wind finally quit here in Death Valley and we will go sightseeing.

Thank goodness for solar so I could run the fan as much as I wanted. About 96 yesterday.

Just had message from Kansas daughter. My GD turned 14 yesterday. Today she is having a colonoscopy and before they finished diagnosed Crohns disease. Not good. Late DH had it. Harder to control than irritable bowel syndrome. What a blow.

Kathleen, sorry you are having such a time.

GOOD MORNING ALL---

Kath, sorry to hear about your pain. What kid of shots are you getting to try to fix it anyway?

Anita I feel so sorry for your poor granddaughter-----she's much too young to have to put up with such an embarrassing and uncomfortable disease that Crohn's can be, especially for a teen.

MY stitches are out, sun is beginning to come out, grass is loving all the rain we finally got----all's right with the world here in St. Cloud.

Happy Friday to all!

Happy travels!

Sorry about your pain, Kathleen. Chronic pain can sure wear on you. Hope the shots kick in and help soon.

Carol has a man here looking over work that needs to be done to get her property ready for sale. The dogs don't like him walking all over...they are barking like crazy every time they see them walk by outside. I'm dog sitting inside and trying to keep them calm, haha.

Got propane tank filled and gas tank filled this morning, and exercised the genny, so I'm good for whatever cold weather wants to linger for awhile.

Good morning all. Liz, I know what you and Carol are going through with the dogs barking at someone working outside. We had a man here yesterday and no matter how many times they saw him go by the windows or doors, they still barked.
I am making milk Kefir and so far having killed my grains. It is really good and supposed to be very good for you. It is fairly expensive at the store plus this tastes a lot better to me.
It is a beautiful day so going out to enjoy. I am grateful that it isn't 96 like it is in Death Valley though!!!

Kefir is a fermented milk product similar to yogurt, which originated in Russia. This tangy, creamy milk product is sometimes referred to as the “champaign of milk” because of its fizzy effervescence. The natural carbonation gives kefir a light, foam, creamy texture, even when made with low fat milk.

Does it taste similar to buttermilk? (which I just recently tried for the first time and was surprised by it's "tangy-ness" - I liked it.)

Hi everyone!

It's a few minutes past noon, but it's still morning on the left coast!

Sarah, I can't wait to hear where your next outing in Magic will be.

KarenS, your day will come where you'll be off during the week as well. I haven't been retired long, but it's easy to get used to.

Sue, by the time you get finished with all your painting and replacing kitchen counters, your house will look brand new.

Lori, sorry to hear about Ernie's ankle and hope he'll be up & about soon. Enjoy the flea markets.

Kathleen, hope you'll be feeling better real soon.

Anita, I can't wait until we have the warmer temperatures again. Hope your GD will be ok.

Soos, I hope your appointments with the doctors will be coming to an end soon.

Liz, it sounds like you're such a big help to Carol, but since you did this yourself not too long ago, you know the ins and outs of packing, throwing away & storing.

BJ, I haven't heard about milk Kefir. I hope you enjoy it.

Steve, Teddy & I have been staying in a campground in Wilson NC for the last week and we'll be here for another week before heading north to MD. It rained here all day yesterday and today started out very overcast and raw this morning, but the sun is trying to peek out. In another day or so, we're supposed to have more spring like temperatures.

One of my parents nurses will be having a hysterectomy in a couple weeks, so I'll be filling in for her while she is recuperating from the surgery. So until that time, I'll be staying with my parents for three days a week instead of the usual one day and overnight stay.

For those on the road, travel safely and I hope everyone else has a great day.

To me it taste a little sweeter than buttermilk, sometimes it gets a little thicker almost like yogurt. I put an orange peel in mine but you can also flavor it other ways if you like or make smoothies.
Making Kefir seems to be popular as there is information and how to videos all over the web. You can also get water grains and use juice that they say tastes like soda pop. I've ordered the water grains and should get them Monday.
Here is a link that tells some of the health benefits of Kefir.

http://www.livestrong.com/article/44994 ... -of-kefir/

I'm looking for fresh goat milk as you can make a cheese that they say is better than Chevre by using the milk grains. So far my stomach which has given me fits for ages is doing well with the milk Kefir. You can buy freeze dried starter at some stores I saw them in the dairy section and the brand is yogourmet.
My starter though is fresh, my friend shared hers. It will last forever unless you kill it but the freeze dried doesn't last but I think a few months.

BJ others interested in goat cheese: There is a local company here that has won international awards for their goat cheese. I highly recommend trying some of their breakfast cheese flavors. She ships worldwide, I think. They also offer cheese making kits.
