I LOVE sleep! Some of you know that.........LOL A good Costco topper, 600 thread count sheets, a cotton thermal blanket for warm weather - and a down comforter in a duvet for cold nights. I LOVED my bed in the Alpenlite! Haven't gotten the GMC squared away quite as well yet, but I will!

I have a DeWoolfson Down comforter and I sleep with it summer and winter! It seems to adjust to the temp or something. I was in Blowing Rock, NC and we drove up to the place where these were made an I knew I wanted one! It's made with a German batiste fabric that has no chemicals and the down is, as their web site says,
European white goose down or feather fills that undergo multiple washing and rinsing cycles in specialized German-made solutions to render them pure and clean. All down fills are washed, processed, and sterilized in state of the art equipment in California.
I think some allergies may be caused not by the feathers, but from either the chemicals in the cover or how the feathers were cleaned.
BUT, I bought it before down became so popular and it was affordable. I only hope nothing happens to it because I couldn't afford one at today's prices! It would take me awhile to learn to sleep without it though.
My favorite sleep was in my water bed, ah remember the good old days

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. I ordered one of the low-voltage electric blankets that Redetotry included in her link to Amazon. I think it's a good decision for me. I might add a heated mattress pad if and when I need it. I'm not concerned about sleeping close to electricity. What will probably happen is that I'll warm the sheets and my poor old knees and then turn it off. Olive won't like the heat and will probably find another place to sleep--other couch or her bed on the floor. Happy Easter to all who celebrate. Christos Anesti.

If one has a 12 volt heated blanket with an 8' cord, how do you plug it in if your bed is more than 8' from the 12 volt outlet up by the driver seat?

My 12v plug only works when the engine is on, so I would assume 12v might not be practical. Am I correct? So is electric the only option assuming you have electric hookup?

If you have a tv in the bed area, check around there. I have a 12v plug there.

And, for your second question on hanging pictures, I like the velcro removable picture hanges by 3M. They come in different sizes based on the weight of what you are hanging. They have the pull down strip for removal like the removable hooks. You can find them at Walmart.

Maybe you ordered an electric one rather than 12v. If so and you have an electric hookup, you'd just plug it into a regular outlet.

Wait don't buy the long johns yet!! Here is another option You wouldn't have to worry about draining your batteries.

This one plugs into regular electric and has a thing that changes the 120 volt to DC As explained in part of the description from the Amazon site.

This is the one I bought! Yay Me! Doing the happy dance now. I think I chose this one because it' has the large print control and I hate trying to find my glasses in the dark. It's all right there in the detailed product description. However, before we all had this conversation, I wouldn't have known what half of it meant. Now I do. Thank you. And Yay Me!

I have used flannel sheets, for some time now, and my thermostat is right at my bed, so I like sleeping cold but turn heater on just before getting up. I did learn, when blower first comes on, don't jump out of bed then, as its cold air blowing I have a vent, right on my ankles and not good !!!

I boondock so much, have never given a thought to an electric anything for the bed, but nice to learn of possibilities that are out there and uses.
