A Good Day, Friday !!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A Good Day, Friday !!

Postby Carolinagal » Fri Mar 29, 2013 6:06 am

Good Morning Ladies !!! This is a good day in spite of the rain coming, :D Had Dr visit yesterday, the one that causes me concern, even though I try to not worry. All is good, my remaining kidney is functioning even better then last year, so that was really good news !! No signs of recurring cancer, so I am feeling so Blessed this morning !!!! Now to get my back situation better, will call for app and get that fixed as good as can be at this age

As I said earlier rain is coming, so goals for today are to get all items out of RV that need washing and give it a good cleaning, which shouldn't take much time as I did a lot each day on the road. Then to tackle the big job here. Still have mail to finish going through, could only handle so much at a time

Well I have such exciting things to do today, better get at it  Whatever or wherever you are today, enjoy every minute, as Anita said we aren't promised tomorrow, so let's enjoy today to the fullest !!!!! I sure plan to !!!

Good morning CArol & all who follow.
CArol, that's terrific news to start the day with! So happy for you! :D
Spring-like weather has finally arrived in KC (at least for a few days). :D
I got the travlin' van out of storage Wed - glad to have it in the driveway again! Have today off so will put things back in it, work on window shades & maybe take the pups for a drive. Want to use up some of the diesel that was in it over the winter - so may drive out to a lake for lunch giving me a chance to use my state park permit.
Hope you each enjoy your day! CArol sure has gotten us off to a great start!!! :D

CArol what wonderful news to start the day!!! Now get organized so you can go play some more!

Catherine, you mentioned using up the diesel that was in your van over the winter. I have left over gas I put in probably end of Oct or Nov and wondering if it is still good or if something needs to be added. I have a lot of new parts except a carburetor and sure don't want to do something that might mess it up! I'm getting excited as the weather seems to be promising to get decent enough to venture out without getting caught in a snow storm. I have Elsie all cleaned up inside, which took about 15 minutes as small as she is! I did however wash and sort through the clothes I had left in the closet during the winter. I sure wish I had a friend who wanted to go with me.

The electrician is coming again today. It's always something... I really wanted to have the inside of the house painted this spring but between the basement and electric work it may go on hold till fall.

For those of you who love the PBS series Call the Midwife the new season starts Sunday evening!!! It is almost as good as Downton Abbey!

GOOD FRIDAY AND MORNING TO ALL!

First of all, CONGRATS to Carol! This will be a really thankful Easter for you! The angst of awaiting the outcome of tests is enough stress to kill a person no matter the outcome, but good news has a way of healing stress fast!

Well, now----yesterday was a day I hope to never repeat. I was lying in bed, preparing to get up, when my heart began that hideous fluttering feeling that I have had just intermittently in years gone by. I sat up bent over, coughed----all things that used to get that fibrillating to stop----no go. So I got up, put Dinah outside, thinking the crisp cold air might help. No go. And my heart rate was nearly 200 per minute, with no semblance of rhythm whatsoever. So I called my son to see if he was anywhere nearby to drive me to the hospital---he could not get here in time and said for me to hang up immediately and dial 911. I said maybe I should just wait a while and see if it would stop. He demanded I dial 911, and I was feeling weird enough that I agreed. Luckily I had unlocked the front door, put Dinah back in her cage, had let Molly pee, as it took them about 3 minutes to get an ambulance and a huge fire truck here in my little cul de sac to awaken the residents in wonder. So off I went to the nearest hospital, hooked to a heart monitor, an IV which they inserted immediately, and when they discovered what my heart was doing, we made good time.

The rest of the day was spent hooked to tons of monitors, blood drawings, drug-giving to slow my heart and get it back into sinus rhythm, (which finally worked after a backslide into A-fib once) radioactive dye injecting, gamma-ray scans and tons of picture taking of my heart, sonogram of my heart and all it's workings (amazing for me to be able to see my heart valves slamming shut!) and a treadmill stress test, which I demanded rather than the chemical-type stress test which is when they inject you with Speed (basically) and then image your heart to see how it is working. I passed the stress test with flying colors, which I was thankful for, as I really wanted to make sure that exercising was not going to cause a relapse into A-Fib.

Finally, after they read all the tests and blood analyses and whatever, the cardiac doc came to me to chat and let me know the plan of action----adding one more drug to my regimen, making it 4 a day now. I begged to go home and threatened to leave anyway, and she dismissed me! She said they found no reason whatsoever for the atrial fibrillation. Sigh. The last thing I ate was a huge bowl of vanilla yogurt with orange slices in it the night before this event. The yogurt, a lower-calorie brand, had a cover that read, "No aspartame in this any longer." I have known for a long time that aspartame gives me irregular heartbeats. Were they lying? Makes me wonder. At any rate, I will throw out the rest of it!

I was delighted to find out the hospital was fast, efficient, left no stones unturned, and all staff made my scare as relaxed as humanly possible. And the rescue guys deserve a medal, as well. May I never do it again, however!

So spent an uneventful night, feel good this morning, and am packing to go to the trailer in St. Cloud for a few days. The weather is to be great for Easter weekend, and I hope it will be for all of you as well.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning everyone. So scary Soos. Glad you are OK. So glad things are AOKAY with you Carol. Catherine, with my experience with diesel from the boat and other vehicles including RED I always put an additive that protects against algae and gelling that happens when there is condensation from winter.

We returned home yesterday. Parked RED in the driveway and then fought rush hour traffic to pick up my daughter. My youngest daughter ( from WA) took the bus over to Houston after judging at the state science fair in San Antonio. When I picked her up she announced that she could only stay till Sun because she has accepted a one year teaching contract in South Korea and leaves WA on Thursday. Apparently she had just found out all the paper work was completed and they wanted her yesterday. I am very distraught about this. I knew she wanted to teach abroad, but why a place that could soon be in "deep Kim chee" with North Korea. But, she is 30, single, no kids and loves to travel. (Wonder where she gets that from?). So I will enjoy my few days with her and pray she stays safe in Gungnam. Yes, the town that the rapper Psi does that ridiculous dance condemimg the "Noveau Riche" life style of the Gungnam district of Souel. :P

Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Good morning all! :D

Wow, lots going on with health isshews! Soos, S-e, CArol & who? glad things are looking rosy for y'all. Anita, sorry to hear abowt the death of yore friend--yes, we need to appreciate each day we have. Bt congrats on yore niece's new baby!!!

Well, I did it--went back to res-q the freeway pooper. Was enjoying a great time Monday boondocking with Anita when I got msgs from Tonja saying all the "helpers" were soddenly too bz to help. So back to Menifee I went! We set a live animal trap for all day Tews & Wed, & got the little thing Wed afternoon! Tonja--a great lady!!!! I spent the night in her driveway, little "Piper" (named for living in a drain PIPE for over 3 weeks) staying in a carrier with me & my poops. She's a jewel! She's not feral, evidenced by the rope arownd her neck, so it took only an hr before we were holding & coddling her. Yes, she's a keeper & with me, traveled in the carrier yesterday morning to Dome Rock where I leashed her for hanging owt with Ape & Tigg in the desert! She loves them! Then she slept like a baby on the passenger seat for the few hrs drive to the rest area where we stopped for the night--slept in bed with me, A & T last night..She's amazingly clean, no fleas/sores, & definitely a happy tail-wagger. I have an appt for her with my old Mesa vet this afternoon--onfortewnately interfering with my gtg with Beth, Karen & Ava today... Sharon & crew, sorry I missed y'all. Kerry & I texted, & felt it best not to bring new pooper near yore dogs, for health reasons.

So, yes, I am crazy! Ok, ok, I'll not take my friend's dog Jasmine--at least she has a home, tho not getting a lot of personal attention. Piper had no home--now she does! And she's so small that it's really like having only another 1/2 a dog!

So all that explains my absence from MC for the past few days. Good to be back & glad to hear how y'all are doing. Y'all have a great day! :P

Soos, what a miserable day! I'm so glad you're back home and healthy. Carol, hurrah for the healthy kidney!

Red, I think your daughter will be fine in Seoul. My sister and her family taught in Korea years ago, and there was unrest then, too. At a time when the US State Department was warning Americans to avoid South Korea, their eight- and twelve-year-old daughters were riding the city busses freely, with no problems at all. I really don't think your daughter will find trouble there.

Happy Friday to everybody!

Carolb,
You're hopeless when it comes to pups needing some luv! Sounds like little Piper was meant to be yours... :D
Soos,
That must have been scary - glad you dialed 911 & got checked out. You've got a smart son!  Hope it calms down for you now - time for a little rest maybe... :?
Red, I added an additive before I stored it - going to put a bit more in with some fresh diesel then take the pups for a ride. :D :D I'm fashioning covers for the seats before we head out... Sounds like your daughter has a mind of her own - hmmmmm wonder who she takes after??? :? I'll keep you both in my prayers. I'm sure SHE'll be fine, hope you will be too. :)

   I knew you would not leave that dog at a rescue shelter, Carolb!! Glad your mission was a success!!

CArol, glad you got a good Dr. report. Soos, glad you didn't have anything more serious - must say, I think I would have been scared enough to spend one night in the hospital since they don't always get it right the first time. After 50+ days, they still do not what is wrong with our friend Bill. He is still hanging in there and having more tests. I also found out that they were not feeding him even intravenously until a couple days ago!

Red, what a surprise from your daughter! My cousin's daughter is in China working at a school.

Hoping to get the truck washed today - finally. Fever came back yesterday and I slept again.

Everyone have a good day and a Blessed Easter weekend.

Red, that's scary that your daughter is going to Korea. I hope that pipsqueak that is running North Korea isn't stupid enough to start something that not going to come out good for him or the people of North Korea. I'm glad my son is out of the Air Force.

Soos, that's a lot to get checked out in one day. Guess it's good that they didn't find anything but know you would like to know what caused it.

CArol, my DH only has one kidney. At his last checkup with his heart doctor the blood test showed that his kidney was working hard. He says that they are going to send the information to his Urologist. I probably need to call them to make sure they do. He has an appointment when I will be gone and his feeling is the less they know the better. I hate to think about the amount of mail I would have if I was gone a couple of months. I should put a trash can by the mail box to keep it from ever getting in the house.

Carolb, glad you finally got the dog so you don't have to live by a freeway. ;) Lucky dog. I can't volunteer at a shelter or I would be divorced for bringing too many home. It's bad enough that they know me by name at the spay and neuter clinic.

I can tell it must be warm outside because I can see the wood bees flying around. We have a battle with them every year to keep them from eating our porch. They don't come out if it's in the 60's. I need to call my friend, I think I heard something about a crawfish boil. Probably need to see if my sons want to come for dinner on Sunday so I can decide what to cook. I'm pretty sure the younger one would rather just sleep.

Kind of late here... Glad to hear the health scares have all had good outcomes!

Carolb, are you sure the dog doesn't have owners looking for her? I rescued a dog not far from there (in Perris) wandering around in traffic. Never found his owners (checked with local vets, shelters, animal control and Craig's List) and I wasn't able to keep him so I found a nice hobby farm actually in Menifee that gave him a great new home.

Was a very busy day at the shop today. Will be busy again tomorrow. I am making goulash tonight for our potluck tomorrow.

Got to almost 50 today so lots of melting going on. Started out with a little (very little) rain this morning but then the sun came out. We could use a good heavy rain to clean up all the salt and crud all over everything. I can't believe I am still seeing vehicles out on the ice yet! They are crazy!

Going to my oldest brother's house for Easter. Gonna pick up my dad and bring him there. Hopefully, my brother will have enough sense to not be serving alcohol!

Hope you all had a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

So much happening ... sorry if I miss anything.

CArol, so glad about your good report. That is so exciting.

Soos, what a scary experience ... nice that it turns out it wasn't something really serious (hopefully) and glad you are home.

Carol, can't wait to meet this little bugger that won your heart a couple weeks ago when you first saw the dog by the side of the freeway. Piper's a cute name (from being in a pipe?) My first thought for a name was "freeway".

Last couple days have been so fun, and tiring at the same time. Karen and I spent yesterday in Phoenix at the Botanical Gardens. Then today Karen, Alice (Ava) and I went down to Tucson to the Desert Museum (which I think you all know is one of my favorite places). I think Karen will be exhausted on the road tomorrow, like I will be working. Alice has the day off ... hopefully she'll relax.
