Me again.... Regarding color... The Alpenlite had aqua caret & upholstery that was aqua and lavender, sort of. I ditched the bedspread & decidedb things were going to be aqua, chocolate brown & orange. Covered the sofa with an off white pottery barn slip cover I got on eBay, got a cute contemporary black coffee table, put in my own recliner and used an antoque tea chest as it's side table. Used chocolate brown sheets, an aqua blanket & turned back white comforter & shams. I love vintage barkcloth so used it for throw pillows. Yup, it worked.
The GMC is basically very austere as my Dad was a good Swede. It's also very mauve/gray. I saw a color. Combo on HGTV that was mauve, hot pink & bright yellow. It has worked like a charm for me! A duvet set from Target, hot pink utensils from tj maxx, and some wonderful coordinated barkcloth & I love it!
So, take your predominate color, ignore or cover up the prints & add pops of color that make you happy. Usually a palette of three with sort of a ratio of 60 - 30 - 10. Have fun! If I could choose a new career it would be custom decorating small spaces..
