New and Happy to be here

Postby RVWannabeKathi » Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:48 pm

Hello Everyone!

I am so happy to have found this forum. I have been reading and searching for blogs but not found many where “womanly” RV things were addressed. Now I can ask those questions and not feel silly.

My DH and I have been dreaming about RV travel and the dream just kept getting bigger until now it is to become full-timers in 51/2 years when he/we retire. We’d like to take at least two years and travel the US to find the place we would like to land. I have a feeling two is going to work its way up to many more. There are so many wonderful places to see.

I live in Southern CA with my DH and a couple of animals. The cat and dog are getting old and when they have gone to the great beyond I think we will be downsizing a lot so we can begin the transition to the RV life. We would like to get a class A before we retire. Even that dream got bigger. The DH was thinking thirty some feet until he saw the Winnebago Tour recently at the Pomona RV show. He loved the slide out basement drawers so much that he upped the ante. I don’t think it will be a Tour, they seem too dark inside for me. We will see if we can even afford anything similar when the time comes.

I love how many of you are doing this on your own. In 2007 I met a woman at Lava Hot Springs who told me about how she and her friends all travelled around in their RVs. I think that might have been the beginning of me getting the bug.

I have been lurking and finding much good information. Also, the camaraderie and support here is great.

I must confess I am not good at remembering who is who and I am terrible with names. Please forgive me in advance.

So happy to be here,
Kathleen

Welcome Kathi,
I think Lori about covered it - you'll find a varied but hospitable group here. :D
Just beware - I was a 'wanna be' when I joined & within a month or so I found & bought my mega-van. I thought I'd retire in 4 years or so, now I'm trying to figure out how to do it sooner - alot sooner! :o
This is a great bunch, so settle in & join the fun! You've been forewarned!

Welcome to the forum. The journey of discovering and research is all part of the adventure. Keep an eye on the gtg list as has been mentioned. The more rigs you see and the more RV'ers you meet the more questions you can ask and answer. S read, ask questions, share and laugh......don't wait any longer than you have to......go adventuring. The world does not wait....

Welcome Kathi from another left coaster. Seems like the girls have just about covered everything, just jump right in with questions, ideas and dreams. We may not know the answer but we gosh darn have an opinion!

There's a couple of us here in SoCal...Evie (Pooker) and I live a few miles apart down in the Hemet area. Let us know if you want to meet up for coffee or lunch one of these days. Azusateach is in....you guessed it...Azusa :D and Li is in Long Beach.

Welcome Kathi. I'm another Californian from the San Francisco Bay Area. You've landed in the right place. If you get up this way, let me know and I'd love to meet you (and hubby, of course). Have fun on your adventure.

Hi Kathi - Welcome form another Californian - central coast. I purchased my first and only coach at the Pomona RV show Oct. 2006 - HR NeptuneXL, 35' Class A DP. Oh, your hubby has good taste!! Have fun shopping.

Hi Kathleen,

I'm new to this forum, too, and I was also glad to find this group of friendly and helpful women RVers. There certainly are a lot more of us around than when I got started solo fulltiming in 2001!

Sounds like you had the bug, for sure, and the beginnings of a plan, so just keep researching, asking questions, taking baby steps, and I have no doubt it will all come together for you.

Best regards,
Malia
