Friday, March 1st

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, March 1st

Happy March everyone,

Well, today we turn over the calendar to another month and with this month comes the first day of spring. Not that it's going to be spring up here in the north for awhile, but it's a good psychological feeling anyway. We won't see spring much up here till into May and early June when everything starts burstng forth with new growth. It's a long slow process, but once it arrives, it's beautiful

Today is the day that Lori and Ernie are heading north, and Dawn isas well. I believe that Tina and Sarah are also on the road as well as a few others. Travel safe everyone.

I had an interesting bunch of news from my NP at my appointment yesterday. First off we talked about my back issue and she suggested I get a Prednisone shot to help with the inflammation and painn, which I did. It has helped except for one spot that doens't want to cooperate. Also am going to have to take some statin drugs to lower my cholesterol as it is way too high. But the one thing that surprised me, and since we share so many private things on this forum, I will put out there  is that I have a piece of skin in my uterus and may need an untrasound to take it out  Now I have never heard of that, have any of you? She was going to tell me how big it was yesterday, but then after she studied her computer a minutes, said she needs to talk with the radiologist and find out a little more clarification. I asked if it had anything to do with this current back issue thing andshe said no. But could turn out we may not need to do anything. She said she will let me know in a few days. Things must be a bit sketchy here

Not much going to happen around here today. Chiropractor this morning, bank and store, then head home. Might run a dust rag around the place perhaps and if I feel like it, maybe a doggie walk this afternoon. We are supposed to have a week of nice sunny but cool weather coming up.

Have a letter heading out in the mail to the boss over at Otsego, to tell him that I am officiallly not returning this summer. Also have a confirmation letter from SS for my appointment next week and what I need to bring along. Nothing but my bank's transfer number and my account number. But I think I will take a few other documents along just in case.

Janice, love the pictures of Annie, she is so precious. I"m glad you have her.

Time to get rolling here. Must wake up Ms. Tessa for her meds and morning potty. Then get myself moving so i can get out the door as well. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Good morning Sue and all that follow.

Sue, I am glad that shot helped. Keep us updated on your xrays. That does sound strange.

We will be heading to Pensacola today. Tonight will be our last night in Florida. It has been a wonderful visit. I have so enjoyed getting to meet so many of the ladies. I especially enjoyed getting to know Irmi and Steve. Finally getting to meet and travel with Wendy and Sarah was a real treat too.

I need to get in the shower and get this show on the road. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Rabbits!! I remembered. You know how you have all this stuff and lists going on in your head when you wake up?? Didn't know if I had spoken yet or not  Rabbits came into my head and I said out loud, "rabbits". My voice was so gravelly that I knew that yes, this was my first uttered word.

Tree people coming back to with the chipper to grind up all the trees and trimmings and the thingy what will remove the stump. I, too, mourn loosing the trees. However, they were old and no longer produced nuts. The only thing they produced was a huge mess. Birdie had to climb up on top of her rig and trim some branches back to keep them from scratching her coach. With these pecan trees gone you can now see the row of Magnolia trees and we still have a bunch of pecan trees out back for nuts this fall :P

Trying to figure out where to put things in RED and it just is not intuitive like Monty. This is like moving out of and into an alartment :P I hate moving. It is so disruptive. I'll be happy when I've got everything in its place and ready to hit the road :P

Finally did a big grocery shopping yesterday. So I think I will go make some breakfast and make some coffee and get back to work. Everyone have a great day. And all of you an the road be careful. Aloha y'all

We both have to make our walks longer after the meal we had out :D It's been so many years since I've been to the beach (Atlantic, that is) Short but fabulous time over here, this is a nice park too, huge, many activities. Not wanting to leave , but time in Fl winding down. We missed you Soos !!

Have a great day!!!! Safe travels Dawn , Lori and all others moving on today,

Lovely very light snow here this morning, barely any on the ground but the trees are all frosted and it is so pretty. It's going to melt fast though as temps are above freezing.
Sue, I'd want clarification too, that does sound weird, an ultra sound only looks, she can't remove anything by ultra sound. I'd be calling to ask for a better explanation..
Lori, I had to Google Haardeeville as I couldn't find it on a map, looks like a good spot to have lots of interesting day trips.
Red, I bet you are tired of moving!! The challenge now will be to remember where you put everything. Glad to hear you have lots of pecan trees left and Magnolias. We have one in the back yard and it is really tall but only has a few branches, funniest looking Magnolia I've ever seen.
CArol glad you and Donna were able to GTG! ! I'd keep putting off coming back north too, it's still winter here!
I have lots of errands today, back to the vet which is a 25 minute drive to get a different thyroid med for Winnie. He thinks she isn't responding to the generic, I sure hope this helps before the poor thing weighs 20 pounds and looses the rest of her hair :( We started going to this vet practice about 20 years ago as it was about half the price of the vets in town plus they were very good. Now, their prices have dramatically increased and only one of the original vets is still there. I'm looking around for one closer to home as it sure isn't saving anything now especially with the price of gas.
Guess I should get the dogs fed and start my day. I've only had one breakfast, two to go  I eat in courses in the mornings.

HAPPY MARCH TO ALL!

I was so hoping that both Carol and Donna would still be at Wickham tomorrow when the kids will be here to stay with Melissa's parents. They are both totally blind and I hate to leave them alone in a place that is not their own home where they know their way around by heart. So sorry I missed you both once again. The dogs and I might still go have a look at the place tomorrow or Sunday, just to size it up, and perhaps I will even get a reservation for next weekend and the following week, as my surgery appointment is not until the end of March. Now that my battery problems seem to be solved, I would feel good about hauling to explore a new park!

After realizing that all my 12 volt things, including those mentioned by Beth, were slowly sapping all my new batteries' power, my son arrived home from work last night just as the UPS guy delivered my new converter. Within a half an hour, he had the old one out and the new one perfectly installed while I watched and took notes for future reference. As soon as we re-hooked up the batteries and plugged into shore power, WOWEE! The inside lights were bright as they should be for the first time in months, the battery level indicator came back to full after a few cycles of the converter's fans (a sound I also hadn't heard in months, and, when I had heard it in days gone by, I assumed it was part of the refrigerator's cooling system) things are back to A-1 here in the trailer. I probably did not need these new batteries, but, as my old ones are two years old and have had some heavy-duty use back at home in the summers at bluegrass festivals, I have decided to keep both those and the converter and begin anew. I will take my older batteries, which I am now pretty sure are still fine, back to the shop and get my 30 dollar refund today. I could haul them back home to use as spares or at the leanto, but my 12 volt TV that I needed a battery for at the leanto no longer works, so..... All's right with my world this morning! It is wonderful to have my own private electrician to do work like that for me! (I now know I could do it the next time, if needed. One just has to map out the wire connections and understand the concept of how they are connected, and make sure all connections are tight and secure.)

I did remember RABBITS this morning, when I first got out of bed in this cold trailer for a quick bathroom run, and then went right back to sleep until the sun hit my eyes. I am getting better at this rabbits thing as I grow older. (Like Red, my hoarse and raspy voice let me know I had not uttered anything prior to that shout!)

All the dogs, Molly, Dinah, and Fallon (Melissa's parents' guide dog) played and fetched balls and the frisbee for hours yesterday. Venerable Molly always seems to beat the others to the tossed item, and proudly carries it back to me! She can also grab it away from the others even when she gets held back to give them a chance to actually get it by waiting for them to drop it for a second and shake! Clever little older lady is she! Fallon, a labrador retriever, is the only one who goes into the pond after the ball, although Dinah at least gets part-way in. Molly hates even getting her feet wet around the edges!

Sue I never heard of anything like skin in the uterus. Please keep us informed about what on earth is going on with you....I think we are all worried and sympathizing with your pain.

I hope you all have a wonderful first day of March. The next few days down here are to be a return of winter temps, which still feel much like late spring to me back home! All of you on the roads have a safe trip, and let us know where you are when you get there!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning ahhh the first of March... we too had a dusting of snow just enough to cover the dirty stuff...
The visit to the little chapel was interesting... they do not heat the building in the winter so it was Cold... Margie got all of the measurements she needed... they will go to Chicago tonight then tomorrow it is wedding dress shopping... glad I am not going...
I think there have been more mini GTG this winter than I remember... now most are moving around... too early to head north...
Sue I hope your back gets better every day... keep us informed about the tag they found... yes we talk about everything on here :D
time to fix oatmeal here...

Looks like it's going to another gorgeous SoCal day, sunny and warm. I try and remember these when we get down into the 60's and cold! LOL!

I took Chewy into the vet yesterday to have her teeth cleaned. The night before she didn't eat her dinner, totally out of character for her, so I mentioned it to the vet. She said they would check her out. Seems she has a pretty serious bladder infection and was running over 104 temp. They kept her most of the day giving her antibiotics and then sent her home around 4. She's got more meds to take for the next 2 weeks. They said they knew when she was feeling better 'cause she growled at them. LOL! Rescheduled the teeth cleaning and they said I would still get the discount. Anyway, she has training tomorrow, 2 classes, Obedience Maintence and an off leash class. I'm hoping she'll be ok to take them.

Not much else here, Anita is on my case to go out to Quartzsite with the RZR and ride with her group, just couldn't make it. It would have been fun, tho! I swept out half the garage yesterday and today need to pull the RZR and motorcycle out, give them a good cleaning and finish the garage. Sand drags this w/e out at Soboba Casino, maybe I'll make it Sunday. I really really love the drags and I have a couple of friends that race there.

That's it from my part of the world, those that are traveling, be safe and those that aren't...I'm sorry! LOL!

Good morning all,
Looks like 'moving' day for some of you - be safe...
To those of you in the south thinking of heading north - it's still cold up here - enjoy the warmth as long as you can - just my 2 cents worth... ;)
I was supposed to be off today but am working from home to catch up from my 'snow day' - main reason for working from home though is I added to our family last night & wanted to monitor how everyone got along on the first day...
I'll try to get better pics today, but here's one of Sierra meeting her new little sister...
Image
What the pic doesn't show is both tails were wagging. Still need to come up with a name for 'little sister' - she's a rescue, about a year old - they think she is a Belgium/German Shepherd mix - roughly 40-45 pounds - won't get much bigger. She's about as sweet & mellow as they come. Looking forward to touring the country with her. :D

Really enjoyed reading thru 'where are you from' thread - its encouraging to see dreams come true from some of the earlier posts - retirement has happened, traveling has begun. Sometimes it seems so far off - it's nice to see it does happen. :)

Sue, glad the shot helped but will be happier when all the pain is gone...
Sharon, hope your Chewy gets feeling better - good thing you had an appointment already for her so they caught it quickly..

Well, I'd better get some work done.
Everyone enjoy your day...

Ha, Sharon! I love GSDs too. The new one is more likely a small Belgian Malinois - after bringing her home & doing some research, she's pretty classic. Here's what the wikipedia said about them
The dog is used extensively by Unit Oketz of the Israel Defense Forces. Oketz favors the slighter build of the Malinois over that of the German Shepherd and Rottweiler which were employed formerly. Malinois are the perfect size to be picked up by their handlers, while still being able to attack their enemies, and their shorter coats and fair and neutral colors make them less prone to heatstroke

Handy to know - huh! I can just lift her up yet she can still attack my enemies

She is extremely sweet (can't imagine her attacking anything) & has made herself right at home - she ate Sierra's food this morning & Sierra ate hers! argh!! I'll get them both of the same food shortly...
