New Year's Gift

Postby oregontocal » Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:07 pm

Since we were going to spend the rest of yesterday exploring more mud caves, Lou gave me a couple of presents for New Year's: a hot pink bike helmet so I wouldn't get a concussion in some of the tighter caves, and...a Garmin etrex Legend GPS. It's about the same size as a cell phone and is so much fun to use. Fits right in the palm of my hand. Lots of bells and whistles, so now I have a new toy to play with and figure out how to use. It seemed to be very accurate in finding the caves, too.

One of those caves was kind of a combination of cave and slot canyon - we didn't even need the flashlights in that one although a couple of areas were getting a little dark when we returned to the entrance around sundown.

The full moon last night was beautiful--made me wish I was a wolf so I could howl effectively. But, I did my best. With all the twists and turns we made returning to the main road, that bright moon kept following us. I'd see flashes of it out of the corner of my eye and think someone with very bright headlights was following us. I took this picture the night before up at the tower.

Lou and Chris sitting in a tree.....first comes a Garmin and then comes....a ring? If there's a wedding can we all come? What a GTG that would be!

Marriage? I don't think so. We've talked about it a little in the past ten years, but have both decided that twice each is enough. It's much more fun being wonderful friends than trying to change our separate ways of life at this stage. He's got three businesses in San Diego along with an entire houseful of animals, photography equipment, and telescopes, that he can't just up and move somewhere else. And I just can't stay in San Diego any longer--it's a beautiful place, but has become too crowded, noisy, and expensive. Now, who knows what might happen in the next few years. I think it's important to stay open to just about anything. In the meantime, although we're not able to be together every day, those times we manage it are great.

nifty gift that gps and a helmet for safety, you have a great relationship with him, and
everything works fine the way it is, so like you said, why change it. I love the moon
shot, putting that one in my puzzle program. Thanks for sharing.
