... but my Forum FB friends can still find me here. I was getting too cranky and did not like what I learned about the "Graphic Apps."

I'm looking for a place to land this summer in my MH, but need to ramp up my search if I want to get a quality gig. For those who don't know me, I like to volunteer for a park -- state or federal -- or at a wildlife refuge. I am escaping my desert home for cooler climes. I melt in the heat.

Any suggestions?

Diana, what you saw on FB was a deeply edited version of what I was thinking. I un-friended a good real-life friend (I owe her a real-life apology) and I was wanting to throw things.

I'm going thru one of my angry cycles and am waiting it out. My goal when these come up is to do as little damage to my relationships as possible.

"Graphic Apps" is a new facebook search feature. It allows you to do long-string searches of all fb content. Under the old system you could only search for a person's name and send them a "friend" request. But under Graphic Apps, for instance, you might do a search of all of my friends and their friends who are 13 years old, play Halo and live in (my grandson's town). Or the favorite restaurants and pictures of my friends and their friends who "liked" the Rape Recovery Center FB page or plan to attend a certain upcoming event.

See? For FB to create this app is SO creepy. Mostly it'll be used for fun stuff, but it's a setup for less savory or just plain invasive things.

I find it very creepy. I know that the kind of privacy we all took for granted when I was growing up is now not possible, but Graphic Aps is nasty. I found this article:

Yes, I'm about to opt out of FB. At first you had control by setting privacy settings to just friends. But now worth all these apps there relly is no privacy. I seldom post on FB anymore. I only have about 30 friends and they are all related to me or a very close trusted friend. But my kids and grand kids all FB and I can see what they are doing and give then a "like" However there really is no privacy except in the private groups or chats. Even then everything you have ever typed since day one is in their computer memory banks. Really feels like big brother, but doesn't seem to bother the younger gen. They give up their privacy so willingly. My DH is anti social media. He had a FB page when he was organizing the H.S. reunion but has quit. I'm not allowed to mention his name or post a pic of him on open social media. I'm beginning to feel the same way.

I have a dear friend that watches our house & vehicles while we're in Florida, & I sent her a message about things to check on "her" FB page. Someone else saw what I posted and I only email her now. I will never post anything on FB thinking only one person could see it. Anything else is fair game.

One of my cousins set up a closed group on FB. We fight about politics but some of his friends get really vulgar. I have stopped posting there because they are so vile. On my regular FB page I have it set up for just friends and I am careful about what I post. Having said that, at my age what do I care what someone finds out about me? If I was way younger, I would be very careful. Employers screen your social media and with friends tagging you in photos which could be unattractive or embarrassing, it could be a career breaker.

And then you can get booted off private Facebook groups just because their moderators don't agree with you, or don't like you, and you're given no explanation why and said moderators won't answer a direct question...I call that behavior cowardly, lacking cajones, or no courage of their convictions. I'll go so far as to say immature behavior of a 10-year old and/or a Master manipulating her Minions.

That's my personal opinion.

I am so thankful our Founder, Beth, is not so petty.
If she was, there'd be no Forum that so many of us (but not all) enjoy.

Yep, it happens to the best of us. Then people want the scoop in pretense of getting an explanation for you...never to be heard from again. Guess that's why I don't trust people as much as I used to, just a certain Dufus.
