Hello out there I'm new to this site and excited to get to know women who are out there in the RV world.
Two years ago I returned to a retail management position after 10 years of working contracts and travelling.
Oh my this has been a challenge and I'm in the process of downsizing and cutting loose.
I want to be infected by your enthusiasm, experience and knowledge of the RV lifestyle.

I have a tiny woodstove off a boat and wondering about installing it in an RV - that is not yet purchased and
if it makes sense to use the woodstove the vehicle decision would take that into account. Anybody out there
using a wood stove for heating?

I also have a 250cc motorcycle and would prefer not to tow a trailer - what kind of mounting systems onto the
RV are you using?

Lots of questions look forward to replies.

Welcome to the forum......enjoy your research and deciding what you want phase..... I for one would not want an open fire near my vehicle much less in it. I look seriously at campfire spacing on the outside. Most of us us propane for heat when we have to and electric and/or solar if we can....

I agree with Tina and would never think about having a woodstove in our motorhome, although that is our main source of heat in our sticks & bricks. Because the propane furnace uses lots of propane, I opt to use a ceramic heater and save the propane for cooking and for the fridge when under way.

You didn't mention where you are from, but there are get togethers (GTG's) all over the country. Check the get together forum and see if there is something within driving distance and try to meet up. You will learn so much!

I echo the comments on burning ANYTHING inside an RV. AND it would need to be vented, and in my experience any holes punched thru the roof -- however well done -- tend to leak. Plus, I would be terrified to have an uncontrolled fire anywhere near the 33-gallon propane tank in my rig.

But that's just me.

Having said all that, welcome to the forum. We certainly have fun and there is lots of contagious excitement here.

I had a hitch carrier for my scooter. Next time would get a more upgraded one. In other words hydraulic. Make sure you can get the motorcycle on and off by yourself.

I, too, would worry about a wood stove in an rv. If you go further with the idea, make sure it could be vented and that the heat wouldn't be near any of the gas.

Also, you would need to worry about the weight of the wood stove in addition to the other concerns about having the open flame in the trailer. You have an open flame for the furnace but it's specifically built to be vented through the side of the trailer, as is the refrigerator on propane.

This room is the first. Then many other rooms follow, like morning coffee, general, etc. As you scroll down the rooms you will find one called get togethers.

That was my mother's name and I don't meet many Eileens. Welcome to the forum. The fun/frustrating part is finding the right rig for you. You'll know it when you see it assuming the price is right. I've been reading "Goin' RV Boondocking" blog today. They went for a Class A but seem ready to downsize into a Class B. I wanted a Class B but ended up in a Class C. Turns out it was good that I had the extra room since I was working while in the RV but now it seems like something smaller will fit the bill again. I don't tow and occasionally I wish I had a toad or scooter but mostly I am fine just going from point A to B, etc. While in FL for the winter, I rented a car.

We will all be interested in your journey.

Welcome Eileen. Glad you found us. As you just found out, we DO have opinions and are happy and quick to share them.

I recently downsized from a 31' class C in which I fulltimed for three years, to a 19' Roadtrek which I absolutely LOVE. I didn't want to tow anymore (altho my B will tow my car if I wanted to) and Rosie is the perfect size to just unhook and go into town. I can park her anywhere a big pickup truck can park. Since the dogs are inside, if its hot I just turn on the generator and the AC for them while I sightsee or shop.

Welcome to the forum! I had to chuckle about idea of a woodstove in an RV; as one who uses wood exclusively as heat in my little house the thing I love most about my Roadtrek is the little button I get to push for HEAT! Good luck in your search for the perfect rig.

For all of us saying we wouldn't do it ... there is a picture circulating on FB I believe with a converted bus that has a ... drum roll ... wood stove in it. So, yes, I guess it is done. And I suppose if done properly it can be safe. So, if it's something you really want ... check closely into how you'd have to do it SAFELY.
