Come Rain, give me a break, Tueday...

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Come Rain, give me a break, Tueday...

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Tue Feb 26, 2013 7:13 am

Geez, it's still raining.... :( I'm hoping for it to stop soon, cause got alot to do to get ready to move on Friday....But in the mean time.....

Spinner's even tired of the wet....our morning walk was put on rain gear, go out the door, head for the nearest tree, pee, then right back to the camper....it was really coming down, still is, so guess we'll do it again in a little bit for #2.....He hates the rain and doesn't like being wet....

We are under a tornado watch until 3PM....it's so depressing... Oh, well, at least we are in a warm, dry place..... ;)

Okay, got coffee going and some oatmeal cooking....Help your selves....

Have a great day, all...

Good Morning Lori and all who come later. Funny isn't it how rain is different to dogs than getting wet while swimming, Charley always wanted me to walk him when it was raining rather than him going out alone into the back fenced yard, guess he thought if he was getting wet I was too, or else he just couldn't resist me going out the door without him.
I'm moving slow this morning, hope I'm not coming down with what DH has, he has been coughing since Friday and I couldn't keep him in, finally after church on Sunday he has felt too bad to move much from the couch. Men, you just can't tell them anything. Of course he swears he didn't catch this from standing outside talking to the Direct TV guy for 20 minutes with just a light jacket tossed over a cotton shirt, when the wind was blowing like mad and the temp was in the mid-twenties.
It is gray and cloudy here, think it's supposed to be this way till the end of the week. Maybe I'll stay in and get my furry little friends groomed.
Coffee in on, think I'll have some of Lorie's oatmeal to go with.

Raining in Ocala too, with more storm warnings for today. This morning I'm sitting at the Ford dealer customer waiting area with Thistle beside me. We're waiting on RV service. No full breakfast served, but they do have coffee and doughnuts available. I don't imagine they'll offer to do a free RV wash either, sigh.

But I had forgotten I had tires rotated last time, so won't have to get that done as I had thought. (They reminded me) Found out my regular mechanic is in the hospital with heart problems, which is why I came to Ford. I had my service here last fall too, because I also needed AC repair. I was pleased with their service, so my just keep it here inthe future.

When I leave here, I go to Cummins Power South for generator service.bought my new generator there year ago, and it's still under warranty if anything should go wrong. So far, so good.

Later this afternoon I will go to visitation at the funeral home. Funeral is tomorrow for an Elder of our church.

All good things to do on a bleary, rainy day I guess.

Stay safe, warm and dry everybody.

Good Morning Loriand everyone else,

Sorry to see that you are still being rained on. Did the Sultan start the "ark" yet  Oatmeal sounds good for that kind of weather. And unfortunately there is another storm heading across right now too, which will probably dump more rain down your way. The weather people were saying the it's helping with the drought conditions in GA, but still has a way to go yet. But I know how you feel, cause I'm the same with the snow up here. Fortuantely we are heading into March and I know it won't be much longer.

My biggest issue here is trying to get a decent nights sleep. With the little amount of pain in one spot in my back yet, it's very hard to get comfortable and go to sleep. Needless tosay, I'm getting very worn out here. Went to the chiropractor yesterday and she did adjustments again. So was kind of sore most of yesterday till in the evening when all settled down. She said she wants to see me two more times and yes, I'm getting better. It will be a long slow process before I am my noraml self again. Even if the bones are all back in place, it will take awhile for everything to heal up in there I think, so will be just taking things careful for awhile. Have decided to apply for SS as soon as I can get an apppointment over to our regional office. Posted a couple of SS questions in General Talk, as i know it's been a subject of discussions on here.

Red, did you get RED home and all parked safely in your yard. Bet you got really excited despite being tired, when time came to actually do it. Now comes the fun of making it "yours'. Liz, glad to hear you are moving through your various appointments and before you know it, you will be able to hit the road again. So where are you off to this summer> Sarah and Wendy, drive carefully on your way home. Sarah especially, as it's getting into bad weather season for you up there in AL. Carolb is still chugging along and getting ready to meet up with some of our western members. How neat. Judy is caught between enjoying the wonderful weathe in FL and having to "work" on the side too. Ava is busy getting things in order so she can make that big move to her rig eventually. Way to go girl. Well, if I missed anybody, sorry. Too much to keep up with.

Time for me to move along here as well. Need to take the snow blower out and clear end of drive from the plowing yesterday and also do the neighbors drive. Another storm passing by to south of me, but might get a little snow from that tonight. Nice thing is, will only be doing neighbors drive a few more times and that's all. Days are gettng warmer and snows start melting. Yay.

Have a wonderful day all despite the rain and whatever else comes your way. Those of you on the road, travel safe, keep an eye to the sky and the forecasts.

No RED for Red yesterday. We made it to dealer at 9:30 am. The weather was clam, misting and foggy. They inspected Monty, we signed the title over to them and gave them the keys. Went to our new rig and spent 4 hrs doing walk through. A few things need to be fixed. They still had not finished removing all the plastic and stuff. So we went to grab a quick lunch. Then to finish paperwork and write the check. Then back to service to drive her home. However, the wind started blowing. 30 mph gusts. They had not finished prepping her. It would be another hour and then we have to deal with rush hour traffic and ever increasing winds. We both have Dr appt today. The kind that you make months in advance and to reschedule would postpone for months again. Resolution?? They will deliver her to our home this afternoon. It is clear, blue skies this morning.

Off to the Dr. Everyone have a great day and stay safe. Aloha y'all

Rode out my first tornado watch last night. I might be in Oz this morning bc I looked out the window and saw the sun shining, something I haven't seen in over a week. Will know for sure if I go outside and see a pair of feet wearing ruby slippers sticking out from under the rig! High winds again today but at least the sun will be shining. NO RAIN in the forecast for the next 5 days!!!

Good morning everyone,

For all of you getting rain - hope you get a break soon. :( Maybe work on the ark should begin soon... ;)

We're getting round 2 of snow. Our office decided to close - only the 2nd time in the 18 years I've been there (first time was last Thursday). :D :D This is a very heavy snow - trees are coated & getting weighed down - folks loosing electricity - my internet has been in & out this morning. I'm just happy I don't have to get out except to clear the driveway. Finally - a real snow day - hooray!!! :D

Noted that Malia commented on an older topic that Joan had started on 'how to plan for interesting places' - so grateful for all the good information on this thread about planning a trip in general - a special thanks to each of you who contributed to this. :D

Red, it'll be exciting to have the big RED in your driveway this afternoon - good judgment call on NOT driving it in high winds AND rush hour in HOUSTON!!!
Sue, hope your back gets better - take it easy on that snow blowing... And I'll be interested in what folks say about SS - I'll be doing that in a couple of years too.
Liz, you mentioned something I hadn't thought of when traveling with pets - 'waiting in the service area with Thistle'... hmmmm... hadn't thought of this before.... needing to keep pets with me at all times - even when getting the van serviced. Something to think about & figure out how that will work on a long trip. :?

Looks like there are still some fun GTG's going on. Keep 'em coming..

Well, I'm going to get some more coffee & then start enjoying my 'snow day'!!
Hope everyone stays dry & warm & safe!

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Tornado watch for us and all of Central FL today as the line of storms passes over us bringing the latest cold front. We nabaged to get about 15 minutes of heavy rain with heavy winds yesterday afternoon which probably did little to alleviate the drought conditions. But all the frogs, toads, salamanders, lizards, and snakes loved it as they were all out, along with the glorious singing of the songbirds when the storm ended.

Doctor was very scary yesterday as they refused to tell me anything when they admitted me into the inner sanctum of the office ("I am not allowed to tell you anything about the biopsy results---the doctor will be in to do that") asking me dozens of questions which I had already answered on previous visits---alergic to any meds, what are you taking now, etc. In my mind, I decided they must be thinking of putting me on chemotherapy. Then, the doc came in with two other people. I felt faint and weak and shouted at him to hurry up and tell me the results before I passed out. Bottom line is the biopsy of my face was benign, and the one on my back is pre-cancerous and will need surgery to remove it before it becomes cancerous! The relief I felt brought on immediate tears and some swear words nobody should have heard! I told them I had no number to call this time for biopsy results, and that the last time they mailed me copies of them. Hence, I figured the results were too ominous for me to know without someone present. The doctor was very apologetic, gave me his private cell phone number so I would never have to go through that not-knowing anxiety again!

So today I will call to make an appointment as soon as possible to get that done. I asked if I could do it without the lidocaine as I did the biopsies the last time, but he said I would need the numbing this time. I told him the lidocaine was worse than any cutting I could imagine----like being burned with a cauldering iron. He said they can add sodium bicarbonate to the solution to neutralize the acid burning, and for me to make sure they did that. I certainly will make sure!

Will hold off going to trailer until possibly tomorrow after the stoms pass, unless they move faster than they are predicting. Torrents of rain, heavy winds, and tornados don't sound like any fun to me if I am to be on the road or in the trailer. Bad enough to be right here in my secure steel rod reinforced block home!

With the health stress alleviated, I feel like a new person, and hope to get through the storms in fine fettle---whatever on earth "fettle" might be! I hope the rest of you fare well also, and that you all keep a wary eye to the sky.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning everyone. We are getting rain here this morning too. We are under a tornado watch until 3. I had a great birthday yesterday. Many thanks to Irmi & Steve, Tina, Sarah, Barb Z, and Liz for making it a much easier day for me. We definitely had lots of laughs listening to Zee's stories of the multitude of things that can go wrong with a rig that is not well made. Also got to hear the stories from Tina and Barb about the life of showing dogs. It was really interesting.

Sue, glad you back is doing better. Don't overdo with clearing your drive.

Catherine, definitely enjoy your 2nd snow day. It may never happen again.

Soos, how awful for you. All that anxiety. I am glad it's nearly over for you.

Lori, it sure sounds like the Sultan needs to start that ark.

Red, that is neat that they are delivering RED to you today. I am glad you did not try to drive it home in the winds and traffic.

Liz, thanks so much for coming yesterday. I know you were really busy so I appreciate you taking the time. It was great to get to see you again.

Horizonseeker, doing the happy dance for you. No rain for 5 days!

I am planning on a busy day getting Sunshine back in order. I have not done my chores since this time last week. Just been hitting the high spots so I could spend my days with everyone here before heading west on Thursday.

Sure hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning everyone!

Like Lori & Dawn said, it's raining here today. It was really coming down hard the last half hour, but Florida really needs the rain. We had such a good time yesterday celebrating Dawn's birthday and being with such wonderful friends. I just got beef stroganoff going in the crockpot for this evening dinner. Tina & Sarah, you are both welcome to join us, as we have plenty. Or if anyone else is in the area, please stop by! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning all! :D

I've missed a few days again, & missed so mch! Weather the big topic! It's been crazy all over. Now I see in the paper a giant storm heading threwgh OK? Yikes!

It's been nice to be somewhat parked for a week now, except driving 20 miles between Mesa/Phx. Will meet Ava Thrsday :D Anita, will PM yew re Fri afternoon/night. It's been a fantastic trip for me to meet all these new peoples & now to have time with all my old ones!

I know I'm crazy, bt I'm pretty certain I'll head back to NY with a third dog. I know it'll be more headache, bt it woold be even more heartache to leave her where she is now--being shoved aside by bigger & littler dogs who have "seniority."

Soos, glad to hear this "new" canceros spot will be removed on the spot! No long drawn owt treatment...Kathleen, PBJ's are the best, & not a sign that yo're being derailed  ;) S-e, hope yore back is better. Red, is RED there yet??!!! :P

Okay, more coffee! Have time to myself, as my friend had a meeting this morning. Nice to have qwiet personal space which I treas-yer greatly! Introvert that I am!!! Y'all have a great day! :D 8-)

Carolb, I know how hard it is to say no the the fur kids. We now have 6 house cats because the kitten with the injured leg moved in. I would have put him in a big cage we have and treated him in the old house but my DH took a liking to him. In a week he is as rotten as the rest. You were making me nervous seeing you getting in and out of your camper with all the leads. Be careful and don't take a header out the door.

It looks like our weather mess is in Florida today. It is beautiful today but a little cool with colder weather coming. But next week it will be back in the 70's.

Good news about my generator. Yesterday when I tried it fired right up. Only thing I can think of is the batteries didn't have enough of a charge. The shop had let them get low when it was in for 2 weeks. I'm going to start it every week for a while to make sure it will be ready for a trip.

Martha, when the batteries might be low, start the engine and then try the generator. I used to have to do that often mornings after needing to use my furnace.

I had tried it with the engine running and all I could hear was a clicking sound. It wouldn't even try to turn over. Yesterday it started right up with just the batteries. I'm hoping it's not one of those mysterious things where it works one time and not the next. My cruise control is like that. It works when it feels like it. It was working the last 2 times I had my RV in for service so they say they can't tell what's wrong with it.
