Glad you found this forum. I think you will really enjoy. You'll find that it is a good place to vent your frustrations. I also used to follow along with you. I somehow lost you along the way.

Welcome Malia, from Karen in Oregon. I remember hearing about you from Dick (aka RVSnowbird on rv net) in his Open Road Singles forum and at a couple of Oregon GTG's.. He was very impressed by you and I know you had a visit with him when you were in Oregon. A lot has changed in that forum since he passed away but it only gets better with age. Thanks to Beth for keeping it going also. Not a plentiful group but great folks for sure.

Glad you found this group as the people on here are terrific. Beth is a busy girl keeping up with both forums and does a great job so hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. I dont post too much but read it every day. Hopefully you will be able to chime in and share some of your wealth of knowledge of being on the road also. I learned so much from the gals who did the Alaska trip last year...was so much fun to follow their travels.

Hey, y'all. For someone who has really never been a "joiner" I'm happy to have joined this group. The welcome has been fantastic - it's great to hear I'm "remembered" even when I didn't always keep my blog current. I have focused more on adding content to my websites, MaliasMiles and MichiganMiles. MaliasMiles was started so long ago in older format so I can't get comments directly on the site. MichiganMiles began my start of working with WordPress and I like this format so much better because people can follow it easily, get notices of updates, comment/contribute, etc.

But I'm also active on Facebook and often post a lot of things there before I ever get around to doing website page. Some of you have mentioned Facebook, so if you want to connect there, here's my page: https://www.facebook.com/malia.lane

So many of you have kindly responded to my intro, and I don't see a way to respond directly to an individual post, so will add some answers here if that's ok:

Martha (Acadianmom): Thanks for checking RVing Women for Shirley. Disappointed you couldn't find her cause I sure would like to meet her or at least keep up with her. I'll see if I can find out anything else, too, but like I said, I won't be joining RVing Women group.

Karen (OregonLuvr): OMG, I'm so happy to meet another Oregon Lover! I spent a lot of time there during my early years. I've always said if I settled somewhere other than Austin (because of kids/grandkids), it would be Oregon. I dearly miss Dick and I thought you might like to see some pics of that get together you talked about with some pics of Dick: http://www.maliasrv.com/CoastTrip/Roseburg.html and a trip we took to Wildlife Safari: http://maliasmiles.com/OREGON/Activities/WildlifeSafariGiraffe.htm. Those were some really good times!

Janet: I'm so glad to make more Texas area RVing lover friends! I was blessed to be able to take my mother along on a bunch of my big RV trips (Alaska, Canada, Redwoods, Sequoia, Yellowstone, Yosemite, and many more). Unfortunately, her health has declined to the point where she can't even make it up the RV steps, but she says those times were the absolute best of her life and I made lots of scrapbooks of those trips that she loves to look through. I do hope you get to live your own dreams soon!

I do sometimes find it hard to keep up with my websites, email, blogs I follow, as well as trying to fit in work to pay for gas money! But I will make an effort to keep up with this forum, too, since I can tell this is a great bunch. Will try to make a get together whenever possible.

For now, I've gotta get back to work. Thanks again to you all - warmed my heart at a much-needed time!

I, too, really miss Dick. He was an inspiration for me. And I believe he's the one who sent me first to your blog. I enjoy your pics with him!

If you want to respond individually, you can do so through use of the PM feature. But if they posted on here, feel free to answer on here, as many will enjoy hearing the responses. If it's private, then, of course, use the pm feature.

Talking about keeping up with websites and blogs - I have a couple for business, then these two rving forums, and my blog. Guess which doesn't stay up-to-date at all? My blog. I can be really good and post regularly, then, like now sitting in one place for the winter, I just let it go. And I've visited with so many good folks and done sight seeing, etc and really have had things to post about, just haven't done it. Isn't it funny that when I'm traveling and have LESS time, I keep it up regularly.

Wow, Beth - that is EXACTLY the way it is with me, too! When I'm traveling, I am moved to share the excitement and beauty with others. But when I'm back in Austin, I tend to hibernate and isolate. I just don't feel like I have much of interest to share during those times, even though I tell myself I could write more about Austin. But it's all I can do to keep up with work and finish the pages of places I've already visited. I'm such a perfectionist that I'm sure it takes me twice as long to do those as necessary, but my whole intent for starting MaliasMiles and MichiganMiles was to share info that I wanted and couldn't find when I was planning RV trips. The encouragement I get from others that find these sites helpful really keep me going on that trail.

I really look forward to keeping up and sharing with this group, as well as gather ideas and inspiration here, too! I've even added the link to my RVing Neighbors page at http://www.maliasmiles.com/RVingNeighbors/NeighborsIndex.htm

Warm regards,
Malia

Oh, and I've also been so inspired by the welcome and people I've read about here, that I finally updated my own blog and added link there, too. http://www.maliasmiles.com/blog/reminders-to-myself/

I actually forget about that blog a lot since originally it was intended for things not necessarily related to RVing, but since that's still my main focus in life, I usually end up posting about that or nothing at all.

I hope to share other RVing related links as I get to know more people here, so again, thanks!

Another welcome from Texas; I'm in Austin too. And yes, your blog was one of the first I ran across when I was having withdrawals from horsey activities and looking for a new adventure. Glad you are back!

Well, I'm glad to see so many Texans here, so surely I'll be able to meet some and maybe attend a gathering at some point before I head out of Texas. Not exactly sure when that will be at this point, but probably some time in late April.

Welcome Malia. I had not found your blogs before but I just started full timing about 1.5 years ago. Took some time today to peruse your sites and enjoyed your writing. Hope you resume your travels and that we meet somewhere down the road less traveled.

Hi Joan,

I enjoyed your story of your process of going fulltime, too. Do you miss your cello? You haven't updated your blog in a while, though, and I'd like to hear more.

I am determined to travel this summer, and I do hope our paths cross sometime so we can share a campfire and swap travel tales! 8-)
