Waiting for Kayak Delivery

Postby linann » Sun Feb 24, 2013 10:17 am

DS finally ordered the 2013 Sea Eagle 385 and is impatiently waiting for it to arrive. Only 35 lbs. and so stable you are supposed to be able to stand up because of new design features (keel and skeg). Tina generously loaned her kayaks to those of us at the FL GTG who are new to all this and explained the features of different styles and brands, and where to find good prices when ordering online. DS loved every minute and enjoyed researching online when we got back home. The new kayak should arrive in a day or two, just in time for a Spring Break kayak adventure.

Will look forward to seeing this when it arrives, Linda. By the way, who is DS? Is this somebody else's kayak?

I will be at my trailer this upcoming week from Tuesday on, as Melissa's parents will be there and I haven't seen them since last year. I also hope to get my defunct converter replaced in the trailer, whn it arrives there. Woould you happen to have a battery charger I could borrow until that converter gets there? My batteries are pretty much totally dead, and I am not sure what else to do but charge them until I get the new converter to do that. Let me know if you happen to have one....mine is back in the mountains, and I hate to buy a new one to use just for a day or two.

I purchased the Sea Eagle Fast Track kayak froma company called Inflatable Boats for Less; owner is Tim and Chrystal Ryerson; phone 877-253-3947. This is the company Tina told me about and where she purchased her Sea Eagle kayak.

Their website is:

My kayak is new and being shipped directly from the Sea Eagle factory via FexEx. Shipping is already included in the price. The price is $100 less than ordering it directly from the Sea Eagle factory??? I can only guess that Tim Ryerson gets a discount price from the factory due to volume. Anyway, you can also save an additional $100 by purchasing a new 2012 model instead of the 2013. I decided to go with the 2013 model due to some new features related to the shape of the kayak and keel/skeg. I can't wait for it to arrive!

Just wait until I get home.....the fast track really interests me because I like the lower profile than the one I have. It wouldn't get pushed around by the wind so much but is still open for egress and all. :) Sue...DS refers to Dear Sister, Sandy.

Need to have a launch party and break out the bubbly, except I'm pretty sure the kayak will be in the water within hours of arrival. I'll come from work and hear all about it.

Soos, Sandy said we have a jump starter, but no trickle charger, which is what you would need. When our battery got real low, it took a few days to recharge 100% when hooked up to shorepower again.

I can feel the excitement building all the way up here! Congrats, Sandy. We need photos of the launch party.

Excited for you today, Sandy! Bet you cannot wait to get into the water somewhere! Where will be your first launch place?

Nice to hear the batteries did come back after they got really low when you replugged to shore power. Weldon checked the charge level again yesterday, and the level had actually gone up slightly, which made me feel a bit better. Amazon still has not sent the converter, and they are usually so prompt in getting packages out. Sure hope it comes soon. Perhaps it's my batteries rather than the converter---another possibility, too. We shall see.

Do you know if they only come in two-passenger models?

There is also a Fast Track 385 Solo kayak. It's the same length as the two person 385, but is a little less in price due to coming with only one seat and one paddle. The two person 385ft comes with two seats and two paddles.

The 465ft not only comes with three seats and three paddles, it is a different length and weight.

All of the Sea Eagle kayaks can be viewed with full details on the Sea Eagle.com website.
