Holiday Rambler feedback anyone?

So, since the only "shopping" I can do for RVs down in Belize is online, I've been having fun reading and checking out makes and models. My latest love is a 30' Class A Holiday Rambler (2006). Anyone own a HR? Would love any feedback you could offer. The floorplan pleases me, and the under-bed storage of the SFS or PBS model would be great as we'd like to store a take-apart kayak under there.

We had a 2002 40ft DP....best made rv I ever had and I loved it!! But it was manufactured before Monaco took over HR. I think the quality now is on a par with Monaco, which isn't the best, but not bad. You may be able to get the same floor plan in a Monaco for buco bucks less. The only difference is the furniture is a different brand and the color schemes are different. Anyway, that's what I found when I was shopping for my 2005. If you haven't seen it yet, try cruising thru Demartini's rv. He sold me my 2005 DP for $40,000 less than I could get it down here in SoCal. Plus he gave me more on trade in for the 2002....but we had bought that from him, too. He's pretty good about fair offers on his used ones, he pretty much wants to get rid of them. Thanks for the information, Sharon! Do you know what year Monaco took over HR? All of the units we've found online that we're interested in are 2006 models, for some reason. I hope that doesn't mean that was a bad year or something! One is a Monaco Monarch and three are HR Admirals. They are pretty much identical in floorplans, like you say, but differ in options, mileage, interior decor, of course. The Monaco is the least expensive. Would you say that the HRs would be slightly higher quality? That is how I read your post. Buying new is not an option for budgetary reasons.

The rigs I mention above happen to all be in the midwest, which would be more convenient for us than California, since my husband has family in Ohio. Thanks for the link to Demartini's, though -- he has a lot of stock!

Nope, sure don't know, but at least from 2005. I would say that the quality is the same, except for the furniture. I just prefer Flexsteel furniture and I found out after I ordered my Monaco that that was pretty much the only difference. Jon said there wasn't any difference except in price. The furniture in the Monaco wasn't bad, just not as comfy as Flexsteel. But again, I'm comparing DP's, don't know about the gas rigs. You might call the dealers and ask them what the difference is between the 2 and what brand of furniture is in them. Quality wise I would say they are probably the same. (the coaches)

I have a 2007 Holiday Rambler Neptune XL 35' DP purchased new at the Pomona RV show in Oct. 2006. It has quality features compared to similar coaches. Yes, the furniture is Flexsteel and Holiday Rambler had been taken over by Monaco. HR is again manufacturing RVs under the HR name as is Monaco manufacturing RVs under the Monaco name. When you purchase used, a lot of the kinks are worked out and taken care of.

Any idea why there would be so many 2006 models of the coaches we're most interested in and not many from other years. New to the RV world so don't know if something strange happened that year or what? Looking at Holiday Ramber 30SFS or 30PBS (there is also a 30PDD that doesn't work as well for our needs) and the same models Monaco Monarchs. For some reason, 2006 models outnumber any other model year for these models when I search on rvtrader.com, rvt.com, etc.

Not a clue! Let us know if you find out! Mine's an '05, but like I said a DP and I haven't seen very many used ones for sale.

I'll definitely let you know if I find out why so many are 2006. Maybe a lot of folks trade in 6-7 years after purchasing new?
