Mini GTG - Sarah & Wendy are In Town

Let's get together!

Mini GTG - Sarah & Wendy are In Town

Postby linann » Sun Feb 17, 2013 7:57 am

Sarah and Wendy stopped by yesterday for a mini GTG and are camped out back on our property. Soos lives nearby so she drove over for a little while yesterday and will be back today. Pete is wintering closeby so he was also able to join us.

We're tring to figure out what we'll do today. Probably breakfast and sit around talking in the house since it is definitely too cold today to sit outside. This evening we'll find somewhere for dinner. So far, we're focusing on Cracker Barrell. I belive Wendy and Sarah may be a little maxed out on seafood after their visit to the Keys.

This is another one of those GTGs that is being planned as it happens.

So glad to hear that Wendy & Sarah have made their way a little further north. You all have fun at Linda's & Sandy's!

Glad to know that the travelers are making their way across the state and having fun. Now that we know you are there you may get more visitors than you want.... :-)

We like visits. Drove over to Melbourne today so Wendy and Sarah could see the ocean, with waves, since they said there were no waves in the Keys. Afterwards, we drove by Wickham Park for a surprise visit. Donna has the photos. After a pit stop at home to walk the dogs, we picked up Soos and headed to the lakefront for dinner at Crabby Bill's. Dinner was good and we stuffed ourselves silly.

Soos insisted we drop her at the corner on the way home because turning around on her road is difficult in the van. Soos explained she would handle any attacker by grabbing him by his bald head, tossing him over her shoulder, and throwing a punch you know where with her hefty flashlight. After that vivid descrption, we definitely did not want to miss the action. We sat with the highbeams on in high anticipation watching as she made it down the block to her place. Darn, no unsuspecting male jumped out of the bushes. Back home, I went out and found my cat while Wendy, Sarah and Sandy examined the map (of Alabama?) and ate pie. No, I do not know how they could get down one more bite, but they informed me it was KEY LIME PIE!

Sounds like so much fun. I could just picture Soos wielding her flashlight.

Everyone was up early this morning. It was very cold for us with lots of FOG (frost on ground). Sandy, Wendy and Sarah reported the trip to Blue Spring State Park was successful. I had to go to work today (bummer), so I missed all the fun. Anyway, they got to the park early and saw over 100 manatees. How do they know how many manatees were at the refuge? A park ranger in a canoe was completing the daily count, and two biologists were in the water with the manatees conducting a research project.

The girls stopped at Stacy's Homestyle Buffet in Deland for lunch on the way home. The dogs were ready for some exercise when they got back around 3pm, so they all walked down to the lakefront park. By the time I got home, Sarah was giving Sandy a Forum tour and Wendy was trying to rest in her rig. We gathered in the family room and snacked on leftover grilled kielbasa, and of course, more key lime pie before everyone decided to call it a night.

Cannot thank Linda and Sandy enough for generously sharing their lovely grounds and home with us plus the sight seeing trips.
Hanging head in shame that I forgot to even look for my camera.
We've had a wonderful visit here; sadly it is time to move on again. But looking forward to seeing Dawn & Paul this afternoon.

You know you're having way too much fun when you forget to get out the camera! Glad you are enjoying the journey, and could meet up with all the new and old friends.

Last night warmed up quite a bit and the weather is just beautiful today. Everyone slept this morning and were moving slow. We ate a late breakfast of cheese omelets and bisquits, then sat on the porch enjoying a cup of coffee. Nicky and Pepper had long walks around the yard. Sarah and Wendy were all packed and ready to hit the road, and drove off just after 12pm. They are off to Dawn's, where they will have another GTG with Steve, Irmi and others staying in that area. Hope everyone has as much fun as we did.

The GTG is over and we are left behind. Sooooo, out come the maps. Got to start planning our next adventure!

We seem to have the roaming GTG thing going. There's still a group wandering around south FL. It's to be expected when you have great weather and a large group of RV'ers snowbirding here.
