Joan, I met my DH through cutting horses. I was the secretary for a cutting club and he was a member. We both showed about 30 years ago but I went back to work and eventually quit riding. My DH started colts and rode outside horses for years. We are down to one horse, my DH is 85 and still riding. He keeps looking at the sales and wanting a colt but hope he has better sense than to buy another young horse.
The Cutting Futurity is something to see. Between all the Non-Pro and Open classes it goes on for almost 3 weeks. It is something to see when it gets down to the finals. Since these horses have been bred for their ability since the 1940's when it gets to the finals a lot of the horses will be half brothers and sisters or closely related. The big futurity starts near the end of November and goes up into December. After the Ft Worth futurity there will be smaller ones in different parts of the country.
