Murchison, Texas

Postby retiredhappy » Mon Feb 11, 2013 10:47 am

Took a quick weekend trip to Murchison, Texas (near Dallas POP about 600) with my daughter so she could attend a horse clinic with Mark Rashid. Love traveling with my daughter; she drives and I can gawk to my heart's content. She also walks the dogs EARLY and I get to stay in my warm bed. Saturday while she was at the clinic, outside, freezing her butt off I was at the RV park, warm and toasty inside, reading and lazing around. Its a terrible life but someone has to do it. Found a Passport America Park in Murchison (surprise) and it was nice with two ponds and even a small cafe with great food. The people at the park were really nice. We had trains behind us which I really love. Would rather listen to trains than car traffic. Had a big storm with lots of lightening Saturday night but the sun came out Sunday (a little) for our drive home.

That sounds like an absolutely perfect weekend. Well, except for the storm.

Who's the cowboy and why does he wear a microphone?

His name is Mark Rashid and puts on horse training clinics all over Texas. He's written several books and is one of my daughter's idols. He stresses gentle training and building a strong relationship with your horse and not forcing the horse to do anything. They had just finished for the day thus the microphone.

Every time my DH mentions wanting to see one of our friends that we knew from the horse shows I tell him we could go in the motorhome and camp at their barn. He says my motorhome doesn't have his recliner. I tell him we could fix that, get a bigger motorhome. I haven't been able to get that idea to fly yet.
