My first RV show!

Postby BarbaraRose » Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:39 pm

I went to my first RV show today in Minneapolis. I had a great time! I was surprised tho, that the booths there were mostly just for campgrounds and RV parks in MN and Wisconsin. I thought there would be more selling stuff for RVing and camping. Camping World had a little 10' X 10' booth with a couple things for sale.
Lots of RV's tho! I decided to just look mostly at smaller trailers that I would be more likely to start with. I looked at pop-up's but decided that with all the work of setting up and lacking a bathroom, they aren't worth the money they want for them. I did however, like the hard sided pop-ups. They have everything a small hardsided trailer has plus the pop-out bed/s. So the best of both worlds and not much more money or weight than the regular pop-ups. With those, too, you don't have to open the pop-out beds if you don't want (ie; bear country) since the couch and dinette can be used as beds.

I didn't see the exact set up I would like, but since I can't afford one right now anyways, it doesn't really matter. I would like a comfy couch (most were hard and boxy), a separate dinette/table, a separate bed, and a bathroom with a small bathtub. I know beggers can't be choosers so I may have to compromise once I can actually afford to buy one. But for today, it was fun to dream!

I also ran into a guy who was the manager at the apartments I lived in before moving to California. He and his brothers started a business making and selling teardrop trailers (way too small for my comfort), and had a booth at the show. That was fun to talk with them. They had heard I was back in town (it is a small town  ).

So for now, I dream on...

Barbie...I love going to RV shows to get ideas, but don't rule out buying a used TT. You can get more of what you want for less. I can't wait until your RV dream comes true!

Barbie, when you are ready, your perfect rig will be there for you. Keep the dream alive and keep working toward it.

I like RV shows too. Going this weekend. It's fun to see all the ideas, both brilliant and crazy the designers have invented. I know people that have had several rigs. They have a class A, then a 5er, then a C, just what fits their fancy (and their wallets).

never hurts to and dream at new ones, cause in my mind it will be used by the time I have the money to buy it,
so keeping up on the floorplans from year to year is quite helpful. :D

I know you. I really picture you RVing, Barbie! You've had a boat. Now it's time for your RV dream to come true. You would be a great workamper! I saw quite a few small TT's while I was at Amazon. My friend, Anthony, lives in a small Class B. He said he got it super cheap. A little rust, but hey! You know what I paid for Myrtle. I am hoping to someday run across a deal of a lifetime and upgrade. I hear of them all the time. Where someone is getting off the road and is practically giving it away. I hope you can find a deal like that, too.

That's exactly what happened to me... My daughter & I saw my vehicle at an RV show probably in 2005 - loved it immediately, but way,way out of my price range - ever! - or so I thought :D ... When I came across mine on ebay last Aug, I knew that this was it!
So keep dreaming - the right time & vehicle will come. :D
