I guess I'll be the one to go against the grain: I knew what they were and prefer those over just about every other chew out there; rawhide and plastics are not something my boys get. My boys used them and we avoided so many puppy chew issues that most people have, by having plenty of bully sticks available. Now, they only get them for special occasions. My only complaint about them has been their price and sometimes, the smell. My dogs do not have any weight issues...no matter our activity levels over the years.

I bought a few here n there back when Bandit was alive, Gracie has had the pleasure of chewing on a bully stick but can't say
that Pixie ever has.
