Thanks, Mitch - good article. Having read that and looked at my life as it is now, I don't think I'd have regrets if I died tomorrow. I have been blessed with 12 more years than my mother got and 8 more than DH - so far.
I will always be one who avoids conflict (not sure that was the word they used) to keep the peace - have had to do a lot of that in my family! Parents, siblings, children. Guess I did it with DH, too.
On the good side for me, DH retired at 55 and we got over 3 years of full timing. When he got the cancer death sentence, he commented, 'Well, at least we did that right'! There was much left to do, but at least we didn't totally miss out.
