FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

OK, my Sprint phone has been down since Thursday afternoon. Some construction crew sliced through a fiber optic cable and they're not expecting it back up until, hopefully, sometime today. Did NOT realize how dependent I am on my smart phone. I can't even buy gas until I check on the prices all over town on my Gas Buddy app. I also use my phone's Hotspot to get on line. (Right now I'm using my neighbor's wifi since they don't have it secured). Last night I couldn't even get on line, talk about frustrated. What did we do before the internet and Smart phones????? I went and had a BIG glass of wine. Apparently Verizon is also down. Its down all the way to Junction, about 50 miles but only on one side of town. My kids live on the other side of town and aren't affected. I don't have a landline so I'm really isolated. OK, so now I'm beginning to understand all those Doomsday Preppers. Am going to learn smoke signals.

The messages that Native American tribes sent were simple, but very important. Here are a few of the common signals used by the Apache Indian tribe:

One puff -- Sending a single plume of smoke would commonly be an attention signal. This meant that something unusual was going on, but there's no cause for alarm or imminent danger. It was commonly a sign to watch for further signals.

Two puffs -- A two puff signal meant that all was well and that camp was established and safe. It indicated that they would stay at their current location until further notice. If the camp was more permanent, a continual two puff message was sent to let neighboring bands know that permanent camp was near and safe. It was an important message, as Native American tribes often moved camp according to the seasons, the availability of resources and for safety.

Three puffs -- This was an alarm signal, just as it is with Boy Scouts today. Indians warned of approaching enemies or marked the beginning of a battle with this signal. Continuous single columns of smoke indicated greater danger and a call for help.

Personally, I vote for a bigger glass of wine...

I have a really big wine glass for you. It is really a margarita glass, but was the only one I could find made from plastic. It works just great for wine too!
