Catherine,
Your van looks plenty big to full time in! I agree it is all about THE FEEL you have when inside it. I have looked at photos so much and feel like Dean of Leisure Travel is a long lost buddy! They even sent me a Christmas greeting! But I have not seen one IN PERSON and I'd not purchase any unit until I'd driven it. I'm thinking gas over diesel also.
Right now I'm scheduling medical stuff before I take off. And as they say "it ain't over till the...." and until I have that closing check in hand I leave room for development!
Thank heaven I don't have to MOVE! The house sold FURNISHED and I have a 10x10 storage unit filled with what I'll take to the apt. I'll get once I land. I did all my sorting and moving in August so can put my personal effects in a box and head out. That part is great.
I am so happy to instantly have this circle of wonderful women surrounding me. It is an unexpected joy!
It is also a source of comfort to those I will leave behind for now......all have been delighted to learn about this forum.
Peace,
Dottie

You definitely have your head on straight & your heart even straigher. :)

I have a mechanic brother who really, really wanted me in a sprinter (of any kind). I was delighted when he approved of my van (even from a distance) & happier still when he checked it out when I got it home. Nice thing is I feel so confident with this engine -I know it will get me where I want to go. And traveling solo, dependability is the top of my list! Plus, it's really nice inside - I just need to homey it up a bit to make it my own. ;)

Can't wait to meet you!

Dottie, I met Dean at a show once. I love his Leisure Vans and if I ever went with that size, would definitely be considering them, too. I was impressed with the work they did. That said, YOU are the one that has to fall in love with the one you make yours ... no matter the brand.

Personally, I got really lucky today. I intend to keep what I have another couple years, but have one mh that is a dream ... and a used one was for sale only a bit over an hour from where I am. I decided to go look at it today. All night last night I was having heart palpitations, cuz I was afraid I'd buy when I know it's not in my financial best interests to do that now (even tho this one was asking a price that I was happy to negotiate around IF it was all the pictures showed, etc). Well, on the drive there, the salesman called me to tell me it just sold. I had a very big "Whew" moment ... as I no longer would have to have will power ... hahaha. Now, I'll hope that in a couple years when the time is right, something like it comes along. And it will, just as yours will, and just as what I have now did. I agree with you; it does work that way.

Gas or diesel the big decision. I can show up at the dealer with my gas van or motorhome and get them serviced the same day. We have 2 diesel trucks and have to make an appointment at least a week ahead to get them serviced and it costs twice as much. There are so many sprinter vans on the road now that there must be more places to get them worked on. Getting something worked on when I was on the road would be my biggest concern. One of our members was having trouble getting her diesel generator repaired. There are only 2 places that I know of to get a gas generator serviced and I live near a lot of industrial companies.

Thank you for input. I really WANT to find a gas one also due to price of fuel right now. Diesel is higher than unleaded! I must trust in the gods to show me the right unit and aid my head/heart in the right decision.
Just had Home Inspection take place and met the potential new owner. He is adopting my cat also so I do hope this deal closes! It looks strong.
I have mammogram today so I am off in many different directions. LIfe is very Varied and busy at this juncture and I'm hoping for some lazy camping days in the near future! (to recover!)
If I can get through the "getting Ready" part, the actual being on the full time roll will have to be easier!
Thanks all for concern and encouragement.

Peace,
Dottie

Wow dottie, selling your stick and bricks and looking for a rig at the same time! You are gonna be one busy lady. You know you are going to have to keep us posted on what happens here and we also are going to want pictures of your new rig too. Happy travels.

Hello Colliemom!
You have 2 BEAUTIFUL furry ones! My girl is hairless and love of my life! I'll try again to get her picture to show.
Thanks for your interest and I hope one day to meet you since Michigan is on my radar to visit a friend one day in Travers City.
I have had migraine headache all day from meeting with Realtor about Home INspection. As bad as I feel right now,if it all goes south, SO BE IT! My house is 9 years old and the Inspector has to knit pick to earn his fee and I am just not going to play the game. If the deal fails the next contract will state AS IS and then the inspector can say what he wants and its no frustration for me. I will be glad when its all history!
An RV show in Asheville in early Feb and I hope to go. There is so much on my mind I'm lucky to still have one.
Take care!
Peace,
Dottie

Dottie, Don't sweat the inspector. They knit pick but work for both sides, usually. And anything the buyer wants to make changes for ... YOU have the option to make changes or not. Breath deep. It'll soon be past. I actually was glad for the inspector who couldn't find anything worth anything and knit picked on a house I was selling, The buyers wanted major money off for lint in a trap and a missing light pull in a closet. I backed out (running) from that deal. Learned later they purchased new and caused mega problems for the builder. I was glad to be rid of them ... and then the right buyer came along.

Here's a big hug hoping your head ache goes away quickly.

Bethers,
THANK YOU for that hug! I am just wrung out from the Maxalt effects and this ICY rain day and all the hassel and I SO MUCH appreciate knowing there is this wonderful community of Sister Women who are and will be along with me on this adventure! It is a lot less scarey knowing there are pals rooting for you and there to help with a kind and knowledgable word. I had though I'd be by myself on this thing but I have a chorus of supporters already. It really is the most hopeful aspect!
I do not understand navigating this site yet but I'll figure it out in time.
Surely not tonight! I'm going to pack it in.
Again, thank you for your kindness.
Peace,
Dottie

Dottie,
As Beth indicated things will work out for the best... try to relax & not let it stress you out too much. With as much as you have going on right now no wonder you have a migraine... I hope you can get some rest & yes, if the buyers want you to do too much you can always say no - or negotiate doing what you're comfortable doing & nothing more :) .
When we sold our mom's house, (she kept everytihng in impeccable condition) - we had several offers - we went with the cash buyer, who immediately wanted big concessions even though we had listed it 'as is'... We said no & took the buyer who we thought would have more difficulties with financing etc. Lo & behold, they were the right family for the house - closing took a little longer with them, but we know now they who were supposed to have it. Things will work out exactly as they should... just trust.. :D
And yes, this is a beautiful community of women - sharing & caring for each other - living life as it comes. Glad you've joined the club. :D Great adventures are ahead...

Just remember to keep breathing and moving forward....you will find your way through these interesting journeys even though they don't hand out road maps for some of this. :)

Catherine, Birdbybird,
As usual when I get a migraine it is a Part trying to get me to look at something painful. This was a long time ago in my 20's a real estate deal with my dad where he had to install a septic system for a building he had built that connected to another buildings septic system. He figured I would be the one to pay for his illegal doing but HE was the responsible one. He hated me for years over that! So much of ones history will affect the present unless we take it apart and seek the truth of it. My years of therapy have helped me on many occassions to recognize and either change or accept what lies in my life story. After 2 hours of therapeutic writing I feel much lighter in both my heart and my mind.
This whole Journey I hope to go on is as much about an inward journey as an outward one. The dessert pulls me to it. I'll find out why I hope.
Thank you all for being like spirits around me. I feel the presence.
Today.........sun. Time for a brief walk.
Peace,
Dottie
