Snowy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Kathleen, my DH goes on the Slim-Fast diet every so often. The last time was not long before his check up with his heart doctor. His cholesterol was higher than usual. The nurse told him that sugar would make your cholesterol high and evidently Slim-Fast has a lot of sugar. He is always going off on some tangent. One time it was a mostly meat diet. When he went to the doctor his triglycerides were out of sight. I have always done best on Weight Watchers but I fall off that wagon pretty easily.

Wendy, what happened to your electrical plug?

Our weather was back in the 60's today. I went to Walmart without a coat. One of my son's is staying here and he decided to change one of our toilets. I think I brought the wrong baby home when I had him. He is always doing something or fixing something. The toilet has only been cracked for 6 months. I would probably have eventually bought one and it would have sat here for another 6 months. It was bought and installed in 2 hours.

Late getting on here today. I had a meeting in west Houston then Birdie had contacted me about getting together this weekend, so I met her for lunch. Red - sounds like your house is still standing and your aren't as far out of town as I thought. My meeting was at West Houston airport, so it was easy enough for us to get together.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Yes I not only made it out but got further than I thought I would/could but it involved driving after dark (people with night blindness should not try that). However, I did catch up with Wendy and she had a much needed glass of wine for me.

Only two scary places as far as road conditions go. Getting thru the short section of road under water at the park was first. I had to move barricades as illegal for Eddie or park employees to do that. Good advice from Eddie: Get in middle of road and stop just before reaching the water, check to see that wheels are pointed straight and roll slowly forward without turning wheels. It worked!!
Next problem area was a pass in one of the mountains, still icy as no sun could get to it. Actually I was surprised to see as much snow as I did the first hour or so; thought more would have melted yesterday as it did in the lower elevations. After the 1st couple of hours, most of the remainder was clear with dry roads thankfully.

I had to load friend's car for ride to Magic, then transfer all of it. She normally sleeps in but got up early today and was at my house by 8:30. In my haste to leave, I just threw everything in the RV wherever it might not hit me or Nicky (must piled high in bathroom). I'll probably still be looking for some of it when I get back home. Got to find coffee, PJs and CPAP, short walk for Nicky, then I'm off to bed.

Praise God for your safety, Sarah! :D Thanks so much for posting. :D :D :D
Sounds like you had more excitment for one day than most of us bargain for in a year. Also good to hear I'm not the only one that uses the bathroom as a secure traveling spot for stuff.
Enjoy the rest of your travels & the GTG!

Sarah, glad you made it so far south. When y'all get here, I will have a meal and a rum & coke for you. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you and Wendy tomorrow. Or today, if y'all decide to the last 75 miles today.
