Good Morning ladies,
Thought I had better check in here, before you all think I drove off the Mackinaw Bridge or something on my way home Saturday. Actually, trip was uneventful, good weather and no traffic till I got closer to home. Made about 3 stops for potty calls, dogs and I both, and one to grab something to eat.
I really enjoyed my month in the U.P. and plan to do it again this year. However, like all fun things, eventually we have to comeback to realilty and I sure did when I drove into my drive. Now, I knew from my neighbor and the news reports, that the snowstorm we caught the edge of in the U.P., had caused a considerable amount of damage in this area, not to mention power outages etc. Well, seeing pictures and the actual thing are two differnt things. This is what I came home to;
This tree fell part way across my drive, but my neighbor cut it back for me before I got home
one small tree down in the wooded area west of my house
That mound of snow covered brush, is or was my lilac bush
the tree top from one of my big pines in my backyard which fortunatly missed my fence
More limbs from another pine, some of which I have already cut up in order to get my snow blower into the yard and clear an area for the dogs to go "potty".
And three trees down as well, plus I think that I may have one that is leaning, taken down as well
Also have a couple of limbs down from my oak tree by my garage.
So, needless to say, I've been busy since I got home, between dealing with unpacking, getting my dogs some room to get out in the yard, clearing off at least 2 feet of snow on my deck, shopping, banking, chatching up on paperwork, mail and the usual things you have to do when you have been gone. Today, I'm kind of slowing down a bit. Just had breakfast, the which of I have eggs, sausage, toats, bacon and peaches here if anybody's hungry. Have a load of wash going and will clean up the dishes in a short. Then finish unpacking from my trip and put that stuff away before venturing out and working on cutting up some more of the limbs that I can get to and can use my Sawzall on. The rest will need to be removed by somebody else after the snow melts, probably in spring. I'm ready to head out of here and hit the road again
I can feel the excitement from those getting ready to leave for the FL GTG. Also glad to hear that Barbie has started her new job and that you are finally through with GC. Hope you never go back to them again. Sorry to hear you gave up Shama, bu I can understand. Another dog in the future perhaps, after Lola is gone maybe. After all you went through to get her and gain her trust, she deserves to live her life the way she's comfortable, in a one pet household for now.
I've got to do some reading and catching up on here. Plan to do that this week as weather is going to be nice today and up till Thursday night, so taking advantage of it and going outside. I sure do miss our long walks up in the U.P. as we don't have too many places to walk here now, with winter and deep snow. I did go for one yesterday over on the next road from here, now that the county has finally been able to plow the roads good. So many trees and limbs down, it took time to clear them away and get the roads open the way they should be. Everywhere we walked yesterday, there were piles of limbs and branches along the road edges.
The post is going to be long enough, so am calling it quits for today. Wishing you all a wonderful da, happy dreaming and packing to those heading for FL.
