Beth and Sparkle, that Bailey's Mint is wonderful on ice cream! Now you've got my mouth watering.
My 6-hour-workday today and so much fun. This is a trip! I can see why Ben, the owner, loves this place. He had to go into town today so it was me and an 18-yr-old woman I met last week minding the store. Not many people showed up, but enough to make life interesting. One big guy, who looked like a football player, actually an accountant, stopped by on his way from the desert to his house near San Diego. He and I shot the breeze a little about Ocean Beach. He wanted to buy the old Airstream parked out here. Another couple and their son and DIL dropped in. The parents have lived at De Anza Resort, the clothing optional RV park nearby, for many years, and his son and wife are moving up to Northern California to go to school. So, I recommended the Samoa Cookhouse to them. Quite a few other people. One of the other women, who lives up here with her husban, had her four-yr-old granddaughter visiting today - very cute. Didn’t take her long to get over being shy. One guy brought his dog into the store, and the dog promptly peed all over the floor under the clothing rack. The guy was so embarrassed, but we assured him that with nine dogs around here, it happens all the time. I did have to go put two long, wet, tie-dyed dresses in the washing machine, though. I played the piano quite a bit, and two visitors talked with me a lot. As they were leaving, they left Ben a note with a special P.S. about thoroughly enjoying talking with the very friendly "piano woman." Cool.
Today was beautiful – absolutely no wind at all compared to the gale last night. I'm so glad I decided to stay here instead of Blythe. Much more interesting and plenty of places to hike and explore.
