WOOD BLOCKS

Next thing I need I guess....are leveling blocks...what do I need to
get ....2x10's? cut to what length?...I will have to ask Home Depot to
cut them as I left my circle saw in PA....

Most of us who don't have automatic levelers use leveling blocks from camping world.

I started out using wood blocks because that's what I had around here. As I could, I replaced them with the 10-piece orange blocks in zipper carry bags. The wood works okay, but can be heavy, especially when they get wet. I still carry some of the wood for when the ground really drops off or has a steep slope, because the TH is really high off the ground & carry weight isn't a problem for us.

I had Woods when I started out, only because the previous owners gave them to me. Over time, most of those have broken, etc. I much prefer the orange plastic ones,,, Walmart, camping world, all rv stores carry them.

And the orange ones are called Lynx levelers. I had to get a second bag after I flipped the axle because the trailer sits higher. We use them under the scissor jacks that we put under the front of the trailer. I do have a piece of 4x4 that just fits under the tongue jack pad.

I got Home depot to cut me four 18" long 10x2s out of treated wood. Actually, the guy gave me the wood almost free bacause it was cracked on one end.

One disadvantage of wood, besides the weight, is that it does crack lengthwise. I tossed one of the four pieces because of this after using it once.

The plastic pieces are nice, but I really need another set, and they are narrower so harder to drive up on. Frankly I almost never need to use either since I have been able to get almost level on almost every site.

I use the plastic levelers when I am camped at a site on gravel. My automatic levelers seem to work better with them on gravel.
