Saturday Morning, Where's everybody?

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday Morning, Where's everybody?

Postby Colliemom » Sat Dec 29, 2012 8:35 am

A Hearty Good Morning everyone,

So, where's everybody this morning. It's 8:23 a.m. and not one post so far. Guess you are all sleeping in this morning, all wore out from the Christmas doings etc. Time to rise and shine and get the day going. There are 3 more days left of this year counting today, to get anything done you wanted to do this year  And from the looks of it, maybe we should find a way to keep 2012 aruond for awhile rather than face that fiscal cliff that's loomng ahead.

It's a cloudy morning here in the west central U.P. Supposed to have a little snow. There is some clear sky out there, but fast getting cloudy. I don't care. Haven't seen the sun for quite a while now, so am used to the clouds. Typical for this time of year. But the days are slowly getting longer ;)

So this morning is going to be getting breakfast dishes done, putting Christmas stuff away and "cleaning house". Then will take dogs for a walk, go get the Saturday paper so I can have a TV guide for my last week here and we will go from there. Will probably work on a sign project later on. Next week's forecast is calling for colder temps, so we probably won't be out walking quite as much. Highs in the teens and low's in the zero's. Good time to take a few rides around up here and do some snooping. Also have a couple of place I want to go yet before I leave.

Dawn, what's the name of that campground your mom is getting her cabin at? That might be something for me to look into if I wanted to spend some time away from home in the winter. That in LA?

Ava sounds like she is putting her "room" in tip top shape for the new year. Soos is waiting to find out from her clan when they will do Christmas/New Years, Irmi and Steve are chugging south, others are making plans for the FL GTG, so I guees life is moving right along here.

So, that's what I'm going to do too. Get myself up and going here. I imagine that the snowmobilers will be heading out on the trails before long. I think somebody is supposed to be leaving today, but not sure.

Have a great day all.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

It sounds like you are still enjoying life in the U.P. and I'm sure your pooches are enjoying it just as much as you are. I can't wait to see the new signs you are making.

Steve & I arrived in Ocala just before noontime yesterday. Between lousy weather the first day and heavy stop & go traffic the second day, it took three days to get here. But we are set up in the same site we were in last year and have seen many of the friends we met last year. It rained and stormed much of the night and the storm was still here when we got up this morning. We lost our electric momentarily but our cable is still off. The rain has let up enough for Teddy to have a long walk. The winds are going to pick up and it'll get much cooler this evening but it's 70 degrees right now. I'm glad we're here and the long trip is behind us.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Ha! I was waiting for the first post too... Thanks for getting things rolling, Sue.
Good morning everyone!
Looks like we've got lots going on - great excitement about the FL GTG is high on the list along with jammies! Can't wait for the pics! :D
I finally have my home back for just me & Sierra. California kids left Wed night. College kids went back last night (after getting 3 square meals a day  ) - they didn't want to leave until after dinner. I have to admit they are the sweetest kids ever, but I do LOVE my house & time to myself. I really need to find a way to simplify Christmas - I'm exhausted! Any ideas are welcome (short of hitting the road  - that's my last resort)

Finally getting to relax with coffee & slice of fruitcake (yum)! And the day ahead is my own. :D

Dawn, I understand totaly your qualms about leaving your mom - but the gals here are right - take some time for yourself - get away, relax, breathe. If you have to take over again, at least you've had a little respite. We kept mom in her home for the last few years by taking turns visiting & tending to her. A couple of us girls & 1 brother did handle more than the others but we had the treasure of knowing her a little better & in the end knowing that she was comfortable as long as possible.

Irmi, glad to hear you've made it to warmer weather - the 70's sound wonderful - rain & all! :D

I hope everyone who is under the weather gets better soon, all those traveling have clear & safe roads & to everyone else, a peaceful day doing whatever the heck you'd like to do! :)

Good morning everyone.

It is NOT raining today. Woohoo! Sue, Mom is going to be staying in a cabin at the Family "C" RV Park in Forest, MS. I am pretty comfortable with her staying here. My SIL has known the owners her whole life. They prefer seniors over young families as residents of the park. They have quite a few seniors living here in their rigs and there is one couple living in a cabin across the road from where Mom will be. DB and SIL only live 3 miles from the park. The owner of the park came yesterday while Mom and John were here. He and John drove the Jeep. He really wants it. He has a 2009 Ford Mustang he says he can swap with Mom for. She and John are going to go look at it and test drive it. If she likes it, looks like they will just swap vehicles and titles. That will be a lot easier for her. He also said he would transfer Mom's chair lift for her. He has the tools to do it.

I need to run to Wally World today to get a tension rod to make a place to hang drying clothes in my shower. The drying rack is not working for me. It is just too big. It takes up most of the bathroom floor. Figure I will give Mom the drying rack for the cabin if she wants it. Also need to pick up more meat to put in freezer for when I don't have a car to make these little trips to store.

I have decided to give myself a birthday present of being a non-smoker by my birthday in February. I downloaded a Livestrong App for my iPhone that will track my smoking and wean me off my cigarettes on a scheduled pace culminating with a quit date of my birthday. Wish me luck with this.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning ladies
the year is quickly coming to an end and I will continue getting my room ship shape. Finally got my desk and shelf unit remade. That
was the biggest project and I've wanted to do it for a very long time. The corner uprights are now inset instead of being on the outside.
Gives 4 more inches to the walk through side of the room and no more knuckle bumping when son goes to open his closet door. Have a few
minor adjustments to make to that and put the top (third) shelf back on then I can get the rest of the tubs back where they all belong. I will
not make the same mistake today as I did yesterday when by the end of the day I was feeling dizzy and weak. I never stopped to eat!
Gonna go to Subway today and get a footlong, then I'll have the other half for dinner. Its been months since I've treated myself to a subway
and I have funds on a gift card I need to spend. So the kitchen area is done, and the desk unit is done although it could use a new paintjob
that isn't going to happen on this project. Thats a whole nother project for another day. But I still have lots to do to finish the ship shape
project.
Will also do my routine Saturday chores today, wash bed linens and pajamas. The girls are still sleeping and once they get up and ask for
breakfast I'll strip the bed while they are eating. They get so frustrated when they can't go back to bed
Ready for my third cup of coffee and just waiting for the girls to stir a little. Ya'll have a great day and stay warm and be safe.

Good morning everyone. Sue is enjoying the U.P. I've never been on a snow mobile. Lots of skiing, been towed on a stretcher in a cage behind one after blowing out my knee  but never on the snow machine. Gotta do that some day :P Kathleen has peace and quiet again. I love having all the kids, but I enjoy my peace and quiet better :P Irmi made it to warmer weather. Wish we were in Fl as well, but our cold is mild here! This week HI 50, Low 30s. But next week it'll be back up to the 60s next week. Dawn, you have shouldered the responsibility for mom for a long time. Isn't it great to have a sib willing to take the load for awhile?? Enjoy while you can :P Wishing you strength and resolve to quit smoking :P

Today I am taking a few of the outside decorations down and storing away while getting the rig ready for our trip out west. Just 2 weeks from today!! I'm getting excited. Our first trip beyond just a long weekend. :P

Hope everyone has a great day. Stay safe and warm. Aloha y'all

Good morning all, We had more snow last night and it is so beautiful out right now, but it is falling off the trees fast. I dashed out at first light and took pictures, yes they are here! Now I am ready for it all to go away but think it is here for awhile.

Image
Catherine, I had a dream you were in the other night, can't remember it now but instead of calling you by your name I was calling you cnq50b. I have an idea for making your next holiday with the kids easier, assign them certain meals that they are responsible for, the planning, the fixing and of course the clean up, while you rest from all the work you do to get ready for and entertain company!

Irmi so glad you all arrived safe and are set up! That sounds like a difficult trip with all the traffic. Dawn good luck on your new program I hope you are successful!!

Image

Well I had three pictures and all were pretty small, I though I changed the size but all I succeeded in doing was loosing one picture :( Will have to practice that another day.

 S-e, had to laff at yore "s-bject"! I was on line early, bt wasn't in the mood to be the opener this morning??? I feel like I'm being an MC-hog by opening almost every morning! Now, hrs later, it's so nice to read what others are doing today. So a late "good morning" from me! :D Snow pix from BJ! Wow, & now we're getting it again here today. I went to Walmart & Aldi early, & by the time I got home at 9:30, snow was piling arownd. Another 4-6 inches for today. Qwiet on the home front for those of yew sending loved ones back to their normal lives. Bitter sweet partings, I imagine. Like others, I'm cleaning & organizing. Will need to go shovel soon--easier to shovel a little snow several times than to shovel a lot of snow one time! Y'all have a great day!!!! Another day closer to FL GTG! 8-)

Been up for hours and busy. Just now getting a chance to read and post. Linda had a great day yesterday but today is starting off rocky. Low blood sugar and low bp. She has no appetite, so its hard to get her to eat. Kids will be over this afternoon with the baby so hoping that will inspire her to eat and feel better. Weather is gray and cold. Starting to get things gathered up and loaded in Seeker in anticipation of my leaving here after the 1st.

Irmi I'm jealous that you are already in FL. Don't envy all you snowbound ladies although the pix are lovely.

Stay safe out on the roads this weekend.

Hi gals. I'm still pretty sick today. Thank God for Bill helping me out! I can barely get myself out of bed, let alone take the dog outside! May have to send him to the store again today for dog food and ice cream...
Gonna call work later on to let them know I probably won't be able to make it in tomorrow yet either so they have time to find a replacement for me. I sure hope this goes away soon! I hate being sick! At least my temp broke last night and now it is just my head and throat that are misereable.

Just sitting here watching snowmobiles fly across the lake. Need to make something to eat soon too. Still have some pot roast and mashed potatoes left. So yummy! The roof of my mouth is all sore from sucking on cough drops so can't eat anything with texture that will irritate it more.

Still not sure if I will be able to afford to get the the FL GTG yet. Still working on that...

Hope you all have a good day!

Hmmm... Redetory, wonder what that dream was - maybe me cutting loose of the day-to-day job & hitting the road????? :D :D I loved your pics - the only thing more beautiful than lovely snow scenes are warm beach scenes. :) I side with everyone else though - very happy we don't have those vistas here... Your idea is so simple (to assign the kids a meal) - guess I'm just used to doing it all. Asking them to help would add some variety & give them a productive activity... I have to admit my DIL did fix breakfast (around noon   ) a few of the days. She is a sweet one & I was delighted that she felt enough at home to just 'do it'.

Hope Linda regains her strength soon - must be so hard...
And Barbie, you must get better so you can attend the FL GTG! Hope you get over this thing soon.
Will surround you both with prayers for healing & funds for traveling.
And Carolb - you sly fox! You don't 'hog' the MC opening - we all love to see 'ew' each morning. :) So happy you get to head south soon & meet up with the gang... I'll be watching for lots of pics!

Morning has slipped away here too and no sunshine. In fact it is down right cold. Love all the snow photos others are sharing and very thankful we do not have any on ground here. If we did it would be ice, not good.
I haven't been accomplishing much lately; gotta do better today. Cold weather, grey ski, icy rain only want to make me hibernate until spring.

Have been having a hard time getting to my e-mail all week. Not sure what is going on as other sites seem to be functioning okay.

My BIL did get to go home from hospital for Christmas but that may have been a mistake. He went back to hospital and has gone down hill since. Just got call from his son that father has been moved to ICU and is being prepped for dialysis as his kidneys are failing. We could use your thoughts and prayers as his overall health is not good.

Wishing all a great day whatever you are doing.

Dawn, I'll be supporting you in the quit smoking endeavor. I did it many years ago and you'll feel so much better after... Its just getting to the after and then staying there.
