Good morning Carol and those to follow. It is in the 50s now and next week it will go back up to the 60s and 70s. :D So far a really pleasant winter. Birdie and Sharon (Sprinter) stopped by my place yesterday on their way back to Livingston from MD Anderson. They are thinking of parking here and house sitting while DH and I head out west. How perfect is that??
Sharon looks really good. The pain docs have a good cocktail going that works. She is able to eat and function relatively pain free. Sharon has a bunch more tests on the 31st and then on the 4th. Then hopefully some answers!

While growing up I had auntie and uncle that were not related, but spent a lot of time with us. They were both pilots (small planes) and flew every where. It was their passion. They were the ones that introduced my dad to my mom. But my dad died in a plane crash back in 55. Auntie and uncle continued to be a part of our lives. They had 2 kids same age as my brother and I. They got divorced after 30 yrs. my mom passed in 03. Lost track of them. I google them. Uncle passed away 2 yrs ago. Auntie still kicking. So I found a phone number and called her. She still flies airplanes and kayaks. She is a little ball of energy. She is still teaching flying and races planes and active in a flying club. She is 87 :P And she had to end the call cause she and her friends were going to " play airplane" and she didn't want to be late. And small world strikes....her daughter is very much into horses and trail riding and lives just a few miles from my daughter and grand daughter that also are horse fanatics up in WA. I want to figure out her secret and follow in her footsteps.. Not flying, but how she lives life and stays young,

Everyone have a fun day. Stay safe and warm. Aloha y'all

Wow!!! I slept like a log :o Maybe it had something to do with being out in the crisp, fresh air yesterday afternoon....fishing!! ;) Ernie & I went with our friend, Andy, down to the dock here, poles and live shrimp in hand, to try our luck at catching sea trout or whatever the tide brought in, for about 3 hours...even took a short boat ride in search of the "fishies" ;) , but, alas, no luck... :( :( But it was a beautiful day and we all did relax and enjoyed the company.......and got the laundry done, too... ;) :D

Today, nothing much planned, except "Dump Day" ....which Ernie has under control... ;) May work on my counted cross-stitch some...Don't know yet, got to get the eyes more open and perked up with some more coffee... ;)

Well, don't have much more to add right now, but will check back later...
,
Have a great day, all...

Fishing sounds good Lori, even if they didn't bite. Today will be a bit busy again, at least this morning. Another visit with home health nurse and her tech who will set up the wireless monitoring. These initial visits take a long time and are exhausting for her. Good news: we get to remove some more bandages and Linda can take a shower and wash her hair! She is trying to wait patiently for Mike to wake up as I can't really do the shower thing with her. She is a bit taller than me and quite a bit heavier.

Weather has been cold, damp and windy. Today the wind has died and it may get up to 50 but the rains are returning tonight. Went out yesterday and started let my genie run for an hour. Nice to just sit alone in the quiet for a while. I am ready to move on. Glad my brother is well and can handle all this without me now. Cool how we all help each other, me with my brother and now Sharon and Birdie have a place to stay near the hospital. Life is best when shared with friends and family don't you think.

Morning from Michigan's Upper Peninsula,

Another cloudy morning here in the U.P.. Haven't seen the sun in quite some time, but typical of this area and northern MI due to the influcence of cold air over the warm waters of the Great Lakes. They do a nice job of producing clouds, plus there is a high pressure ridge up here that is just sitting and blocking off the storms and what not. But we do have light snow coming down everyday. Nothing to bother with, but just noticeable in the air.

Not much doing around this place right now. Dogs are outside, unit next door has already left for what looks like the day, the next one over is a group of snowmobilers and they havne't started out yet. Upstairs is the same. Think one unit that was here for Christmas, left yesterday. Some due out tomorrow and the rest on Sunday. Don't know if anybody's staying till New Year's. Don't think so. All are from either WI or IL. I"ve been getting teased by some of my friends on Facebook, that maybe I can find a boyfriend with all these guys around here. Fat chance that. And besides, I want a Yooper guy, not somebody from IL or WI  Actually I'm not looking

Don't know what's going to happen today. Considering going to Marquette to Wally World and Gander Mountain, plus try to find a couple of other places. I'm not that familair with Marquette in that it's the laregest city in the U.P. and I don't know the in's and out's off all the streets etc. Some are one way, most are just narrow with traffic coming and going and one must watch traffic while tryilng to find something. i know some areas, but not all. Have been tempted to drive down on a Sunday when things are much more quiet, but haven't done it so far. So guess today I will venture out there.

Carolb, glad to hear you weathered the storm okay and now are heading for a casion no less. Hey, maybe you will hit it big and go out in style for 2012  And you are all packed and ready to head south pretty soon too. Red, that was interesting about your "auntie and uncle" and the fact that their one daughter is near yours in WA is even more amazing. Plus having the same interests. I had some really good friends back a number of years ago when I was active in Girl Scounting and used to do volunteer work at the Girl Scout camp where they were Rangers. Lost track of them after moving north and finally decided to check into seeing if I could find them again. Yep, still aat the same address, but did find out that she has passed away and he is still living at home but his daughter is with him too. Was nice hearing from him. They were older than I am by about 10 yeaars. So you never know who you might find when you search out old friends thsese days.

Lori, yep, being out in the fresh air will get you every time. One reason why I like to be outdoors rather than inside. Love that fresh crispy air and right now it's crispy

So am off and running here. Nothing much to add to today's journal on here. Have a great day all. And I see Horizonseeker just posted ahead of me. Glad to hear that all's progressing nicely and that Linda is doing well. Before long she will be up and at em again.

Good morning Carolb, Red, Lori and all that follow. It's supposed to be a rainy day here today. I woke up a little late for me. Did not wake up until 5:40 and don't remember waking up through the night. I took 2 allergy pills before I went to sleep, so I think that helped me sleep more soundly. The dogs were all still very much asleep when I woke up, so just turned the lamp on beside the bed along with the TV to let the dogs sleep in. They have such rough lives.

Mom, Paul, youngest DB, SIL, and I all went out for a great lunch yesterday. I had a catfish dinner. It was really good. It has been a long time since I had really good southern hushpuppies. We all dug into those hushpuppies. Paul and I then went to Walmart to stock up on coffee, creamer, sweetener since we won't have the Jeep for a tow vehicle after we leave here. I also bought new towels and face clothes since the ones I have in the rig now match the decorative set I embroidered for Mom. I am going to give her all those for the cabin. The cabin she is going to be renting is being used this week, so will be when those people leave before she can start moving in there. SIL told me that she had toured all the cabins and she liked either that one or another one of the cabins. I think SIL will be good for Mom. Youngest DB was talking about her getting a golf cart. SIL pretty much nixed that idea by saying Mom needed the walking she would get walking around the little lake to check her mail. I did tell SIL, if this did not work out, call me and I would come back to pick Mom back up. Paul and I are dealing with a lot of guilt about leaving Mom here when we leave next month. Youngest DB has been trusting me for about 40 years to keep an eye out on Mom, so I am going to have to return the favor. That is what I have been telling Paul. Paul is still not sure about leaving, but he really does not want to stay here. It is really going to be strange to be so far from Mom. We don't do well living in the same abode, but I definitely want her taken care of.

Just saw that Horizonseeker posted. I am glad Linda is doing so much better and that you are feeling it getting to be time to be back on the road again.

Colliemom, enjoy your trip into the "big city" of Marquette. I am not fond of streets like you describe. Too easy for me to get turned around.

I am going to try to get some things done here in the rig today. Need to put up two spice racks I bought along with the pictures I still have not hung up. I have a lot of things to get rearranged as soon as Mom moves out and I have those cabinets in the living room area. It will be nice to be able to walk around my bed again. I have a lot of things on the floor between the bed and the back wall of the rig. Too easy to put things there out of sight there.

Hope everyone has a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Dawn it would be fun to know what is going through your mom's mind as she prepares to embark on a new plan for her life! I'll bet she is as excited as a kid who is moving to a new place that will be wonderful. I would love to see her cabin when she gets in there.

Sue, I am so ashamed that I forgot the chatroom again last night----perhaps tonight? Sigh. Need to touch base with you in more "real life" style.

Very happy to hear that Linda can now take showers again----she must be so happy about that, too!

It sounds as if Sprinter is having a better life lately, and I know we are all looking forward to the latest test results to come up with a plan of action for the new year.

Red, your aunt is someone I would love to meet! What a gal!

Lori and Ernie are having a laid back day, which is the way it should be after the Christmas hubub.

Looking forward to seeing Carolb and many more soon this upcoming month! Be careful in your travels, everyone.

We had some ground frost and roof frost this morning, and I turned up the furnace to make it more comfy in here. The sun is bright now, however, and it's aready come up noticeably in temperature outside. Still waiting to hear from the St. Cloud kids to see what our weekend plans entail.....will be fun to have Christmas with them.

Happy Friday to all, and get prepared to fall off the "cliff" soon, it would appear. I am trying to find a parachute to break my fall!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Cloudy here in Normal... and cold... coffee is good... I cannot keep the fireplace going not sure why...

Lori I bet the fish went deeper to keep warm... Wow Red I bet your Aunt had a very interesting life... Sue you have had a wonderful vacation... Soos I thought of the chat room about an hour to late! guess that is my life... Dawn I am sure it will be hard to leave your mom but it is for the best at least that is what it sounds like... even though she was near you she was separate so being in the same space must be hard for both of you...

I will go to my daughter's this afternoon and fax some papers to the insurance co... she is busy winding down the books for the business... that is a job for sure...

I have a bit of paper work to do and a couple of notes to write to friends so will be off here...

Have a great day everyone

good morning ladies
everyone is so busy winding down their year it inspires me. Did a little "extra" cleaning yesterday, moving the fridge and cleaning under
and behind stuff. So much dust and forgot my fridge had a filter on the back, and it was totally blocked. Got that washed and put back
on. Now the fridge sounds better :P Will continue right on around the rest of the room, moving stuff and cleaning under and behind.
My goal is to begin the new year with everything spic n span. Other than that, I'm still cold but the weatherman says the weekend is
supposed to get up into the upper 60's, and perhaps a chance of rain for the new year. If it rains there won't be any fireworks over
Tempe Lake.
I've rambled on enough, time for a coffee refill and get off the computer or I'll not get a thing done. Ya'll have a safe day and stay warm.

The weather is nice in Florida but a little cool. It was suppose to get down to 32 last night but don't know if it did. The heat strip in my ac is keeping us warm. Don't know what we will do today. My son gets on his computer and finds something to do with Jeremy. Like most 10 year olds I think he would just as soon stay on his DSL or what ever it is called. Yesterday we went to The Catty Shack Ranch. It's an animal rescue for big cats. Not a fancy place but we enjoyed it. They have a lot of tigers, 3 lions, 1 bob cat and some panthers.

I had an aunt that I was very close to. One of my mother's sisters. She worked her way through nursing school back during the war, had her own business for years and lied about her age in her 60's and went back to nursing. She was my mentor and I could alway call her. My mother never had a job so couldn't really relate. She lent me money to go to college. When she was 80 she and friends went to see the Great Wall of China. I always want to be like Aunt Ethel.

Dawn, it's hard when your parents become the children and you have to help take care of them. My sister and I had to pass mother back and forth for a few years. I had 2 brothers but they were no help. Our children were young and she would disrupt our familys where ever she was. Take advantage of help while you mother can still stay by herself. Maybe she will do more for herself if you aren't around to wait on her.

We plan to head home in the morning. The weather channel says there is rain coming but it doesn't look as bad as the last batch.

Still sick with a nasty cold :( I finally have two days off, altho I would rather be using the time to do more important things than just laying around being sick.

Gonna have Bill (neighbor guy) stop and pick up a few things I need and walk the dog for me. Don't think it is doing me much good to be going outside several times a day with this cold.

Got a light dusting of snow overnight. Makes everything look nice and clean again for awhile.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I'm glad you ave someone close to help you. If you have the virus that was going around here it is awful and I would bet you don't feel like being up at all. Try drinking about a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in hot water it seems to help with the sinus issues.Apple cider vinegar seems to be a cure all! I hope you are better soon.

We are supposed to get precipitation on and off over the weekend, a mix between rain and snow, that sound like a bad mix to me! I bought a ham hock and dried navy beans so I'm ready for New Years Day.
