What's the winter weather like down there?

I'm eating mac-and-cheese comfort food for lunch and gearing up for a really difficult afternoon. There's a formal meeting with my brother, who is trustee/executor of Mom's trust and estate. In the eleven months since her death, he has not finished one single task -- and it's a very simple, straightforward trust. I have to make it very clear to him that lawyers will be involved if this continues, and I have to do it now, while my son is available (he is also a beneficiary).

This is likely to get ugly. Wish me luck, ok?

Good luck, Louise. Why does death have to make ugly? It's hard enough to begin with.

I know it is late, but I wanted to let you know that incredibly, my plane made it to Cleveland yesterday in the middle of a blizzard!! And only an hour late. Somehow Cleveland got the airport runways cleared and we landed. Bad drive to my son's house, but at least I made it.

Course, one good thing about driving a motorhome to an airport, I could always sneak in and sleep in it in the dark if I had had a very long wait for a delayed flight. I was prepared with extra clothing in my carryon in case we had landed in some place like Newark and i have to spent the night in a hotel.

Anyway, having a good time here in Ohio, but miss my home on wheels. Will be back on Sunday and moving on from there.

I was sitting on the beach in shorts ... cool nights make for great sleeping. Cool, but not cold mornings, wonderful, warm days ... and that was one of the really cold winters ... took getting 1/2 way down Baja, and it was mahvelous. You'd have a reason to keep the kayak ... can kayak with the dolphins in clear, calm waters.

My mother died in 1978 and we had quite a time with my brother, but we have put it behind us. Well, that's what I thought. Seems while my younger daughter was there for Christmas, he brought the whole thing up again! Why I have no idea because she was only 5 at the time and had nothing to do with it.

We didn't get the snow (other than a few flurries today) but got the cold temps from Canada. Like my dad said, we can't complain about the cold, considering what everyone else is dealing with right now. It got to 21 today.

I am still suffering from a terrible cold. Had to work again today but now have the next two days off to recooperate. Feeling very tired tonight. Not too fun having to walk the dog in the cold weather when I feel so crappy. Gonna get to bed early tonight. Bought a large container of pot roast at the deli and some mashed potatoes so that will be my comfort food for a couple of days.

I am thinking of getting booties for Shama. She loves the snow but her feet get really cold and she ends up limping back to the door. I got a coat for her (with a hood) that wraps all around her so her tummy doesn't get wet either. She doesn't mind the coat but not sure how she will feel about the booties. :?

Dawn, I am sure your mom will be much happier in that little cabin by the lake. Sounds like a perfect place to me! At least you got her to downsize all her stuff so it will be an easy transition to get her settled in there.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Home again, exhausted but unscathed! The good wishes really helped. Thank you all!

Anita, your brother sounds like my brother. Ugh on them.
