Sleepy Saturday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sleepy Saturday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Sat Dec 22, 2012 8:09 am

Good Morning all,

It's dark and cold outside. Good time to be snuggled up in bed, but as usual the fur kids have other ideas. Since I had to get up and put them out, at it's after 7 here, may as well stay up, although my body says bed. Oh well, life with fur kids isn't always like we want it, right  And of course, they are all snuggled up in their beds, snoozing away

The big snowstorm is now history and the digging out is over here for now. We figure we got about 14 inches minimum from it here. I jumped in and helped dig out yesterday, while to owner plowed and plowed. Spent about 3 hours with the snow shovel. Enjoyed it though. Good way to get some exercise and be soutside for awhile. The girls got a walk later in the lafternoon after the road got plowed.

But I did get some bad news from the home front yesterday in that the heavy wet snow down there along with the high winds, brought down at least 4 trees in my yard. One looks like it may have hit a section of my fence where the fence gate is and damage that area, but nothing done ot my garage or house according to my neighbot. I asked if I should come back home and he said no, nothing can be done right now anyway with the holidays and all, which is true. So i will stay up here and finish out my two weeks and then head home and deal with it. It could be something I will talk to the insurance company about, but here again, as long as it's the holidays, nothing will get done anyway. Plus there's so much snow on it all right now. From what I saw ofthe pictures he sent me via his Iphone, I may just leave a couple of them tll the weathe breaks. We shall see. I asked another friend if she happens to be by my place while out snowmobiling, if she would stop and take some pictures with her camera, so I can better see just what's going on.

So that kind of put a damper on my fun a bit, knowing that is going on down there. My neighbor who is watching my house is the one who's house I was watching this summer and also takinng care of their yard while his wife had lung transplant surgery. It is ice of him to return the favor by watching mine and taking in my mail, but this is a bit much along with clearing my drive from the snow. But by the same token, had I been one of those folks who head south for the winter or part of it, it would make no difference anyway. Just like Irmi and the flooding from Sandy. Knew it happening and that there would be a mess to clean up, but was way down in GA and would deal with it when they got home. It's happened, you can't do anything about it, so you just deal with it as best and when you can. In my case, it's just trees, they can be cut up and hauled away.

So the big holiday weekend has finally arrived. The shortest day has come and gone, the world didn't come to an end and we are all still here. Now to enjoy the holidays, friends, family or whatever one is doing. I"m heading into town this morning to pick u a few things today and tomorow will be heading for church and a church decorating thing afterwards. So the weekend will be a bit busy. It's beautiful up here with all the snow, so will be taking camera along today too.

So guess it's time to get some breakfast going here since I'm the first one up and nobody's gonna fix it for me. I have bacon and eggs here, along with toast if anybody wants some. Also good cold OJ. Breakfast pickings are a bit slim at the moment. Might stop at the bakery and get a cinnamon roll while I am out. They are so good and the size of a loaf of bed. LIke everything else in the U.P>, things come big :)

Have a wonderful day all.

Good Morning Everyone !!! I have NOT gone far enough south !!!!!! But I'm here through Christmas, whatever the weather :D
My little guy who was ran over looks and acts as if he never had that accident, a Real Miracle !! We put a puzzle together last night, found he's very good at them and loves doing them. Sure glad this ole Gram has an extra one, had this urge to buy one extra, now I know why

Still have my little tree to decorate, I think I'll be able to find some help later, when I get all set up here.  The little guy loves my Big Truck !!! That's how he remembered me

My DD doesn't drink coffee, so having mine here with you all, about time to go in and see if she is serving breakfast yet :D We are all baking cookies today, that should be fun, maybe a little hectic

I'm sure there are others posting now, hope we don't collide and any of us loose our post. .

Wishing you all a Great day !

CArol :)

good morning ladies
too bad about the trees Sue, guess you'll have lots of firewood after it cures.
Agenda for today depends on the weather and what I feel like tackling after the sun comes up. But for now I'll get the laundry started. Most
likely I'll clean out the car cause right now its an embarrassment so much stuff got put in it during the last couple weeks on top of the stuff
that was already in there. Last time I cleaned it was Thanksgiving. :o I probably have a dozen coffee cups on the floor in the front seat. Every
time I clean it out I tell myself I'm not going to let that happen again but then it does anyway. This little cycle of untidyness will cease
once I get back into my rv as there are reasons I don't bring certain items into the house to get mixed up with sons stuff. Am so looking
forward to getting my rv out of storage, I can hardly stand the anxiety. Shopping for the necessary items for the remodel will help that.
Tires first though and of course tags and insurance. Right now its covered only for storage.
About time for another cup of coffee and get my hair washed and by then the laundry should be ready for the dryer. Ya'll have a good day
and be safe. Hope everyone stays warm.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL THIS WINTER OF 2012-2013!

Wow, Sue----a shame about your yard and those trees, but am happy your roof seems to be intact. A damaged roof would have shortened your vacation greatly!

Carol, it's not much warmer here in St. Cloud this morning, so be patient and things will get warmer no matter where you are! Glad you are spending time with your grandson!

Well, although I didn't get zapped yet, as the rules of our health insurances first require "informed choices" before anything gets done, I did get thoroughly informed about the Superficial Radiotherapy procedure, got fitted with my lead shield for both legs, and got my first appointments of about 15 beginning with New Year's Eve Day, Dec. 31st. I will be going 3 times a week, Mon., Wed., and Fri., for as long as my body can take it, which will probably be the entire time, I hope. I won't need more than about 10 to 15 minutes in the office on each visit. I called my secondary insurance company to make sure all the docs and all procedures are covered, and they are, thank heavens. They say I won't even need any copays, which will be extra sweet. The place seems nice and clean, friendly, and crowded with tons of patients in various stages of skin rot! It's almost exactly midway between here, St. Cloud and my trailer, and my house in Orlando, so convenient. I asked if I could miss a week of treatments in January for the FL GTG, and she said that would be no probloem by that time whatsoever, so I felt good about that. The radiation is so slight, like x-rays, that I should feel no sickness whatsoever. The spots will get scaley, scabby, and probably itch more than hurt. The surgery could be done only at separate times as the cancer is on both legs, but the radiation can be done on both legs together. I feel ok with my choice thus far.

I am packing to head home for Christmas as the kids are off to Tampa and Melissa's parents for 4 days. They will be back and come to my house for New Year's weekend, and we will celebrate present-opening then, too. Still no news from the northern kids and grandkid, but it isn't looking good for them being able to afford a trip down. It will hinge on whether or not my kids' father gives generously of some money, which has not happened yet. He usually comes through,

It got into the low 30s here last night, but is warming up fast this morning. I had a leak in a feeder hose to my water pump under my kitchen sink which neither I nor my son could stop with any gaskets or tightening attempts. After several trips to look for gaskets, we finally decided on a pex stopper on the intake, as I am not using my pump at this time anyway. No more leaking, thank heavens.

Off I go to pack and head home. Hope you all stay warm and happy with holiday fun.

Happy travels!

Good morning everyone, I looked at this thread and read Sue's and Carolb's post. Went to get my coffee and more posts to read. Busy morning. Sorry about the trees Sue, but your house is good, so that's what matters. 2008 Hurricane Ike took out 100 feet of fence and two trees, but the house and everything else was OK. Insurance did pay for the fence!! Soos, so glad to hear that things are moving forward for your treatments :P

One of our Christmas presents will be a new sewer line  It is an older house. When I moved to DHs house in 09 the first thing that happened was the sewer line to the septic system plugged up. It had collapsed from age and they dug up the yard and replaced the pipe from where the patio cement is to the septic tank. Well this week it plugged up again and guess what?? The pipe has collapsed under the cement. So now we have to tear up the cement and replace that pipe. :x Why at the holidays :| I know this stuff happens, but Mr. Murphy go away already.

I had fun yesterday. I drove down and took a pot of vegetable soup to Birdie and Sharon. Vickie was there and we all went over to Best Buy and helped Sharon select a new computer. I love meeting up with our ladies as they pass through the area. And Vicki lives in this area as well. So we'll get a chance to connect more frequently :P

Tonight DH and I are going to drive over and look at the Xmas lights on houses. There is an area that at least 300 houses decorate and each loop has a theme. It is so wonderful and takes me back to when we were kids. My aunt and uncle had a big station wagon. All us cousins would pile in the back and the aunts and uncle in the front. We would drive around singing Christmas carols and look at the lights. I can still hear my uncle's deep booming voice. :P

Everyone have a great day. Stay warm and stay safe!! Aloha y'all

Good Morning... Sue sorry about the storm damage... makes for a lot of work on you... Soos did not like to hear the treatment could not be done yet... insurance is a pain... Carol how fun to play with the little ones when they are able to interact with you... puzzles are such good learning tools... Red that is an interesting Christmas present!
I called Bonnie and told her my circumstances have changed and do not need her to clean... that is over at least I hope it is... I did not like doing it but no choice...
Hope everyone is winding down to the big day... I will spend it with my daughter and her family...

It was really cold here last night, Carolingaal--46 when I woke up. And I am halfway down Florida, so not much farther to go south! Sorry to hear about your trees, Sue. Were they big ones? At least you will get some firewood out of them, but it is hard to see trees go down.

I had to turn on both furnaces in the middle of the night because the electric heater was not doing enough to keep me warm. I use a cotton coverlet (easy to wash because of allergies) and a down throw, which has nearly always been enough no matter how cold. Supposed to be cold tonight and then get warmer on Monday.

Sitting here waiting for Carolb and her husband to bike in from the north entrance of this state park, which is several miles in this large park.

Only other plans for today are to work on the class that opens on Dec 30 and learn how to use the new software. This is third software I have had to learn in 11 years of teaching online, so I hope it is better than the last two. Might take a bike ride later, also, just to get some exercise.

Good Morning,

Sue, sorry to hear about the trees, but I am glad it doesn't sound more serious. Two people just lost their lives in Washington State due to falling trees.

I enjoy reading of all your holiday happenings! Really not much going on here and this is one time I miss being near a town/city with lights, music, etc. I will go with LeRoy to Christmas Eve Mass in Parker (45 minutes from here). We did find Pizza Hut was open for dinner after Mass last year.

Judy, did you enjoy the Very Merry Christmas Party (sorry if I missed a post about it)? Did you see Holiday Around the World at Epcot?

I brought some things from storage to organize - got that done. Now need to vacuum and do laundry. Trying to get to quilt and genealogy time!

Continue to enjoy your holiday happenings!

Good morning
The fierce winds have finally slowed down and sun out but no warmth.
I did get by Big Spring Park last Wed. before storms/high winds moved in and knocked trees over again. The display is beautiful and there are now over 200 trees along the lagoon. I could not find a spot to get them all in the pix but you can get a feel for it. Trees are lit at night.

Due to heart issues, my BIL was transfered to a different hospital last Wed. and his condition has improved greatly. Doctors have cleared much of the fluids. He has had a very rough time with health issues especially this past couple of years with complications related to diabetes . He keeps bouncing back against all odds and we are thankful.
Stay warm and safe out there.

I didn't sleep for beans last night, The Chewmonster and I kept waking each other up snoring. Pretty bad when you have a snore competition with a chihuahua! The Samcat was on and off the bed several times, once to puke. I heard him, but so far haven't found the evidence. I thought when cats were cold they curled up into a ball to stay warm. Not this one, he stretches out as long as he can get and then velcros himself to me. He sleeps for a while with his back to me and then turns and warms his tummy. At least he doesn't snore.

Frost on the ground this morning, we've sure gotten winter early this year. I know I keep saying that, I guess I'm tired of it already. I keep saying that, too. Is repetition caused by snoring? :D

When the grand was here for a couple of days she mentioned she loved stuffing. I asked her did her mom make my recipe and she said not unless I used Stove Top. I told her mom (my daughter) I would make the stuffing for Christmas Eve dinner. They were both excited, then the daughter asked me how much work was it to make that fruit salad I used to make, so I volunteered for that, too. Before we were done talking I ended up with bringing the stuffing, fruit salad, bread and pumpkin pie. It'll be nice to make some of the recipes I haven't done in years.

Hoping for blue skies, warm weather and safe traveling for everyone.
