Christmas song

Becky Kelley grew up not far from where I did in MN. This is a great song and story!

The song was prompted by a question Kelley's nephew Spencer Reijgers asked while they were standing in line at a mall to see Santa. She mentioned it to her father, Steve Haupt, a St. Louisbusiness owner with a background as a pianist, and he wrote a song around the idea. They recorded it last year and made a demo video with the help of Kelley's cousins, but the effort was amateurish and didn't get that much attention. Kelley knew music producer Chris Loesch, co-owner of Shock City Studios, and asked him to listen to what they had. Loesch said Friday that he helped tweak the song with a stronger chorus and a new second verse, and got Kelley and her father into the studio with a full band. "We went all-out," Loesch said. "We thought we had something special." They then got cinematographer Chris Benson,, who was a cameraman for the movie "Up in the Air," to make the video.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Very powerful song-----thanks Barbie.

Reminds me of the first time I went to a huge cathedral with my father when I was nearly 3 years old with a wrapped gift for the "baby Jesus" up on the altar. All the kids walked past the manger with Jesus lying in it, and put their gifts (for the poor children of the city) on the floor about him. I noticed that Jesus looked a bit strange or dead, so I climbed up to touch his face. I realized he was a wooden doll and promptly screeched out, "It's only a wooden doll!" I refused to leave my gift, all the while yelling about Jesus being wooden and not a real baby, until my poor embarrassed father rescued me with my gift tightly clutched in my hands and ushered me out of the cathedral! He never forgot that Christmas Catholic service, and neither did I! I was so sure Jesus would be there in the flesh. Amazing what parents don't realize about what their kids might be thinking.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
