New Tuesday - let the countdown begin!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

New Tuesday - let the countdown begin!

Postby cnq50b » Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:40 am

Good morning all,
Been awake since 3 - got up at 4 to work on annual assessments - did laundry & straightened up house instead... will try going into office early - maybe I can focus there better.
Need to start thinking about Christmas gifts - (Red, this is why I can identify with your hubby - so many things to do, so much to get ready & so little time)... Oh well, Christmas always comes whether I'm ready or not & we all survive. We learned last year that it doesn't take that much (in terms of gifts) to make Christmas - just time together with those we love. (Just writing this out is making me feel better - see what a great support group this is! :D )
Hope that those who are snowed-in get shoveled out, those who are traveling are safe, & those who are panicking like me, calm down.

Tuesday

Postby Paulette » Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:44 am

Good morning ladies. While I don't usually start the morning coffee, (cause I don't drink coffee), I thought I'd get something started here this morning. 29 years ago today I gave birth to my baby girl. I was In labor for 2 days, started with placenta previa and she weighed all of 5 lbs 2.5 oz. 5 weeks premature but perfect! Now it's all just a fond memory!

Warm here in Maryland this morning, but still overcast. Sure wish the sun would come out!

Yesterday I babysat for my 15 month old grand niece. She is a cutie pie. Glad it is only the occasional babysitting though, as I'm just not up to doing it all the time!

I'm pretty much finished with my Christmas shopping. Need to get a few items sent via Harry and David and a package put together for son#1. The house is probably as decorated as it is going to get. Still need to bake some cookies and make some spiced nuts and cinnamon nuts for gifts and bottle up the kahlua I made for gifts. I'll be glad when it gets here.

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I may head to the grocery store this morning...or not. We could, survive a few more days I think.

Polar Express Tuesday

Postby Redwahine » Tue Dec 11, 2012 7:45 am

Good morning all!! It is 27 right now. Just day before yesterday it was 80. How crazy is that??? Moved my Hibiscus trees into the barn, covered hose bibs, etc for the coming freeze. Had a wonderful evening watching football (Texans just couldn't get it together against the Patriots), eating pizza with a nice roaring fire. Hot apple cider and hot chocolate!! Very nice winter eve :P

Really don't know what today will bring, but there is a long list and a big pile of stuff to do. But for now I'm gonna enjoy my time with y'all, sip my coffee and watch the birds at the bird feeders and the squirrels collect acorns. Everyone stay warm and safe. In you are traveling don't go any faster than your angel can fly :P Remember this is the time of good will and cheer. Don't let the grinches out there steal your joy. Live ALOHA!

Tewsday sociology lesson

Postby carolb » Tue Dec 11, 2012 8:01 am

Good morning :?: Well, miss a day, miss a lot! I'm back! I read posts early yesterday morning, bt had a nasty head cold with no energy to post or be online the rest of the day. Hmmm, what did I wake to today? Catherine, I'd love to think I coold have held this all in check! 8-) Typical of "groops" from a sociological point of view--as they grow, they tend to form "groops" within the "groop," those groops "splinter" off, & as that "splinter groop" grows, the same is very likely to happen to it. More people brings more personalities, & people gravitate toward those individ-als who are most like themselves...yes, & they begin to share more intimately & desire their own "groop." Yet, easy to see it as a "slap in the face." Please let me again say, that's jst the nat-re of groops! Lesson done....Okay, I had a lovely time in NYC, not excited abot having a head cold (not invincible with the flew shot!), & am very happy to be back :D Will miss others if they do indeed "leave," however, we are gaining new members daily! With that, another cp-o-coffee & wishes for y'all to have a great day! :P

I know it is tough for people that have birthdays close to Christmas. My grand daughter's birthday is December 25. They celebrate Xmas eve and morn. Then from noon on it is birthday celebration :P My DHs birthday is Dec 31. He is bitter cuz he never got to have a birthday party growing up. I keep telling him that everyone is celebrating with him, but he doesn't see it that way.

Morning all. I would hate to have a birthday close to Christmas. Chuck's was always on or close to Father's Day. He always teased the girls that they had to be sure and bring him 2 gifts. One for each, birthday and Father's Day, otherwise wasn't fair to him. After all, my birthday was not in Mother's Day.

Got to go wake Mom up as today is a travel day.

Everyone have a great day!

 Ha! I spent so mch time selecting the "right" words for my sociology lesson, that I was way late posting it! Good to see that we can go on. I'm jst hoping y'all get what I was saying & that the air is a bit cleared, bringing s-bjectivity to what happened yesterday. It's the way of ALL groops, whether it be families or political systems! Carry on! :P

Well I think this was the first Tuesday post, so I'll reply here.

If you need rain in your area, have your rig washed and waxed. That's what I did yesterday, and the storms came right after they were finished. Unfortunately, CArolinagal was also getting hers done, and the rains came before they got completely done. So she will have to see the results when things have dried out and call them back if necessary. The storms were not expected until today, or so I thought...

Don't know what today will bring. It may decide on what the weather decides to do. Hope you all can find some fun.

Forgot Lori was now in EST - when she said 9 I was so totally confused, thought I must be reading an old coffee thread. (used to her being an hour behind me not ahead of me    )

I think I'm officially so tired I can't think straight. I kept hitting the snooze alarm this morning thinking I was getting those 10 minutes all over again, you know like in Groundhog Day?   Fortunately I realized what was going on at my normal get up.
