Early grey Sunday...

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Early grey Sunday...

Postby flick4411 » Sun Dec 09, 2012 8:33 am

Good morning all! No idea why I am wide awake at this hour on a Sunday morning. But it is cool and quiet this morning. Dense fog here in SoCal... Head is so stuffed up...Santa Ana winds supposed to kick up later today. It is hell to be a walking barometer!!

Today is all about packing and boxing Christmas presents and getting them to the post office. Thank heavens for the posting machine at the PO. No lines, and it takes credit card. :D

There may be a trip back to bed before all that work tho...it is just too early!! Have a good Sunday day!

Good Morning Li and all lwho follow,

Hey, I found out at least for last night and this morning, that if I keep my ocmputer close to the back windows of the bedroom I am in, I can pick up the WiFi connection from upstairs, granted, some times it drops to to bars but sometimes it' up to 4, so hey it's better than mothing. The windows are up along the top of the wall, (I'm in the walkout lower level and windows are at ground level above my head here), but I put a night stand under them, with a cardboard box on to. Make a rough computer stand and I am sitting on a chair and able to type. Going to look for a smaller box or see if perhaps there are some blocks of lumber around here to prop the stand up a bit higher. Any port in storm. Only thing I can't do is send out emails cause my account configurations are different from this cable company's stuff and the computer says since it can't find Charter it won't mail them out. Will work on that.

Had a good drive up here yesterday. Light snow when I left home, enough to dust the ground, roads were fine other than scattered slippery areas in the passing lanes here and there between home and the Mackinac Bridge. Ran into snow snowers on and off. But once over the bridge, the sun came out for awhile and it was pleasant driving. Had snow on the ground for probably 3/4 of th way here. Some ares bare and others not. Here there is just a little bit but a Winter Weather Advisory is posted for her and may get about 6 inches by tomorow afternoon possibly. The same storm that is hitting Barbie in MN is heading across MI too. I don't care, will sit and watch and work on my crafts. The owner set me up with a really nice table and a high powered wor light to work by so I dont have so use the kitchen table. Figured that way I would be able to eat on something besides the floor  Table gets crowded when you have craft stuff all over. And she also put on a nice Christmas table cloth. So once I get my Tree and decorations up, it will look very festive in here.

And I see everybody's singing carols whether or not in the stores, home or wherever. I listened to mine all the way up yesterday and have a new CD boombox (my christmas present to me) t listen to them here.

Am heading off here now to get dressed and head out for a morning paper. Have to go about 7 miles to the store to get on, but will pick up some other stuff possibly as well. It's just a gas station/store thing. There is a small store about 2 miles the other way from here, but I like that other place better and also want to check out a church near here to see what time their Mass schedule is. So will send this off the get rolling here. Have a great day all, raise you voices, lift your hearts, tis the season to be jolly :D

Good morning Li and Sue and all who follow. It is grey outside but not too cold yet that's supposed to come in tonight. It's been unusually warm all fall.
Sounds like you are all set up Sue, so nice that they brought you a craft table to work on, that will make it much easier. If you don't have one, set up a gmail account you should be able to send and receive mail that way and it will import your contact over. After two of our internet providers went out of business I started using gmail all the time. You can still use your other account in places where it works.
Toby is resting his head on my knee as a gentle reminder it is time for breakfast! Guess I should get on with the day so I'm not late for church, again...

good morning ladies
well, today son gets his christmas present. Went to Cox yesterday and signed up for their internet. Service tech comes out sometime after 10
to hook it up. Didn't know they worked on Sunday but yep, I confirmed it. So I can turn my crosswave off and save myself $45 a month for the
next 6 months. Will be hanging out here waiting for the hook up. :D Other than that I have to clean the bathroom today as it smells of whatever
and I want to get a bath. I'd rather smell bleach while I'm soaking in the tub.
Its gotten a tad cool here at night so I've had to turn the heater on a few times just to take the chill off. But in the day time, its warmer outside
than in the house. Love that sunshine :D
Ya'll have a great day, be safe and be warm.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!

While The other Sue is experiencing the kind of weather I grew up with for Christmas season, this Sue is down here in St. Cloud in her trailer with some very mild, and sunny weather about to break out of the early morning fog. This entire mowed area around the trailer is LOADED with robins----there must be about 200, or more, of them. Robins and Christmas just do not compute for me! I am happy to learn that you will have some internet capabilities, Sue! It sounds as if you are all set up for a neat vacation! I must say I do miss snow in December....I just can't help it.

The kids are still over in Tampa at Melissa's parents' house, and I decided to stay over the weekend so the dogs can run and play free----they love being able to come and go here. I need to get back tomorrow so I can pick up Dinah's renewed prescription at Publixs in the afternoon. I wish I had my mouse for this computer, as I find these danged little touch screens unbearable!

I hope you all will have a happy Sunday doing something fun for yourselves. My chore for this morning is to attach the new water line filter for my trailer water supply hose. After that, I am free to just loll, I guess! Or throw toys for the dogs to chase.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

HO HO HO. Good morning to all!! Sue, glad you have Internet connectivity. Would miss your daily posts. Weather up there sounds so much like the white Christmas wonderland I've never experienced :P right now it is really sunny here, but I see a hint of black clouds threatening from the North. We're suppose to have T storms in about an hour with 1/2 inch of rain. We are still officially in a drought down here, so they rain would be good for the water table. So letting Tyler run around all he wants till the rain starts. Got the Christmas tree up & decorated and half the presents wrapped and in the mail. Will work on the other half today. Want to get a string of lights outside, but don't want to do the ladder, and DH can not do ladders. Got DH a couple Bah Humbug T shirts. He wears them proudly  Everyone have a great day. Got a pot of chicken soup going. Not really soup weather right now - maybe tomorrow. But I wanted to cook some stuff up to have in the freezer for heat and eats our first few days of traveling. We will be putting about 400 miles in each day or we will never get to AZ. As it is, it will take 3 days.

Looks like we will stop around Sonora and then Las Cruces before making it in to Tucson. Beth gave me the name of a park to check out in Tucson. Then depending on the weather forecast, we will spend about 3 days in the Tucson/Phoenix area, move up to Peach Springs on the Hualapai reservation for a night. There is a drive down into the canyon there. Then over to Grand Canyon for a couple of nights. Because of the night time temperatures, I think that's all we will be able to take. Then down to Sedona/Cottonwood for 3-4 nights before heading back to Tucson and then 3 days home. We will be out 15 nights. Everything is still jello-y but at least we now have a game plan.

Good Morning,

Sue, good to see your post!

Definitely cooler weather in the desert! 60s in the sun is nice tho.

Gave myself a bit of a day off yesterday because I know the next 10 days could be hectic getting ready and then going to Yuma. Today will be back to cleaning and maybe some laundry later when all the early birds are done! One nice thing, I don't have to worry about making a packing list - everything is now with me!

Some book publishers are not allowing their e-books released to libraries so I got a library card at the little library near here. One usually has to wait for the latest J.D. Robb books, but library had it on the shelf! Now just have to find time to read - seems I am too sleepy at night to get far.

My latest travel plans are reservations at Disney World for December 1-12 next year! I love going there during the holiday season.

Sounds like everyone is moving right along with holiday happening! Red, glad to hear you aren't getting up on the ladder!

Wishing everyone a happy day.

Good morning all. :D
Grey day here in KC but got out & walked to church, then over to Kmart, picked up a newspaper & wandered back home. Temps in high 30's -low 40's - but going lower later today - birds in evergreens chirping - absolutely loved it!
College daughter came home for a bit yesterday, went shopping (of course) & helped to put up the tree - its over 20 years old & I declare each year I am going to replace it, but it is beautiful when done - just a pain putting it together, stringing the lights on & then taking it down again. :) Daughter loves Christmas so I must decorate (maybe I need one of those Bah-humbug shirts) - she's got finals this week - works next week & then will be back home when son & sweetest DIL ever come in for Christmas. Cant' believe its nearly here. :o
Sue, glad to here you got settled before more snow sets in - also glad you've got internet - would miss your posts.
Red, DIL from California didn't even know what a 'snow day' was!! I hope we can drum up a little snow for her again this year. Last year we had a dusting & she was very excited!
Maggie, hope you have good travel days...
Stay safe everyone, enjoy the season - just remember this, too, shall pass.

Red, if my DH wore T-shirts a Bah Humbug one would be one he would wear. Holidays are just another day. When people give him presents he has been so ugly to them it embarrasses me. He is always buying meals for people but doesn't want anyone doing anything for him.

Maggie, it takes me almost 3 days just to get across Texas. We went to the Grand Canyon the first week of June and the night temperatures were in the low 30's. Don't know what it would be in the winter time. Hope you don't run into any bad weather.

Friday night I started feeling so bad I thought I was coming down with something. Was a little better yesterday. I was invited to a party last night but didn't feel up to going to a party. Feel ok today but not up to my normal self.

Going to tackle the Sunday paper, not that I need anything.

Good Sunday afternoon all. I'm having my afternoon cuppa tea and waiting for my gd to get home from her overnight with her mom. I braved the crowds at the mall this morning and believe I have 98% of my Christmas shopping done. Yay! Have to get a package together and shipped to son#1 and I do send a couple of Harry and David gifts too. Now it's almost time to start on the cookies!

Joan, so glad to hear you are starting to feel better. Sometimes those meds can really mess you up!

Soos, I so wish I was in a warm temperate climate right now! It's been raining here all day. I'm glad it isn't colder and snow! Although it does look pretty, it doesn't feel pretty and dealing with it isn't pretty!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon.

Afternoon everyone. Glad to hear everyone is having a pretty good day. It's been really quiet here. Just did a little bit of housework this morning. Only vacuumed and washed the coffee cups. I moved Buddy Bird onto a chair in the dining area. Felt like he was not getting enough interaction with us being in the bedroom. Since he has been where he can see everyone, he has been more active and chirping more. I think he likes his new place. Will need to get a folding table to keep his cage on. I have figured out how to redo everything to make that work. Also thinking about getting another parakeet to keep him company. They are very social birds and with the dogs, I cannot let him out as often as I would like. The cage is plenty big for 2 birds.

Made reservations for our next stop today. We will be staying at the Poverty Point Reservoir State Park near Delhi, LA. for a week. I cannot wait to be back in a State Park. So far, I have not had much luck with private campgrounds that I like. I think more than anything it is because the rigs are all so close. I guess it's because of having so much room around me for the last 20+ years. It's definitely going to be an adjustment for me.

Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon and evening.

Holy cow!!! If you want snow, you otta be here! They were predicting 4 to 6 inches of snow here. Well, we are now at 12 inches and still snowing!!! Later, the temps are supposed to drop down close to zero with -10 below windchills and 40+ mph winds so could have blizzard conditions here by morning. Already total white out conditions just west of here. Winter has officially begun!!!

I worked all day today, in fact I stayed until closing so one of the other gals who lives further out, could leave earlier and get home before dark. When I went out to my Jeep, I could hardly find it under a ton of snow. I used my 4 wheel drive both to and from work. Apparently, the cities and state are cutting back on winter road cleanup. Not much plowing and no salt or sand put down. Not sure what they are saving it for. Not like this was just a sissy snowstorm. The roads are really awful! A layer of ice under the snow. Even the freeway had about 4 inches of built up snow and no one was going more than 25 miles per hour.

Shama doesn't seem to like the snow much and just does her thing and wants back in right away. OK by me!

Let me know if you want some fresh MN snow! I will send you some in a jar!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
