Grrrrr! Rant away; you certainly deserve that.

I sometimes fanticize about sending a bill for all the hours I spend on hold with help desks and techs and so on!

Excel, I have a satilite on my rig that Camping World installed. I punch a button and it finds the DirecTV signal. We use to try and find the signal with a portable dish, but it was really hard. I take the box and remote from home. I'm paying for it, so I use it. But I did find out that the service agreement isn't covered in the RV.

Mitch...what is a 'spare antenna.....I have Direct TV at home & would love to have reception on the road....however, my Winegard antenna on the RV roof is the only antenna I have...so what do I have to buy to make TV work with my receiver on the road ????
Note: I am NOT savey....very good...not mechanically inclined ? or what ever so need advice.....thanks.... :x

Char, here's the spare antenna I use for the little trailer...

I have a different one that I use for RVing Guests at The Blue Marlin (that one includes local channels, which the "traveling" one does not).

I don't think you want one of the dishes Mitch posted a picture of unless you are very adapt at finding a satellite signal. Camping world and other RV places sell the automatic ones that find the signal for you. There are several brands but you want one that is automatic.

Yeah, sometimes it's definitely a PITA to get mine honed in on the satellite, but for me, at that time, prices were $30 vs. $800 or more (or something like that...).

Yours would be a lot better than the one I had on a tripod. My sister and I would fight with that thing and about the time we would find a signal the wind would pick up and blow it over.

This is the Winegard Carryout. Plug and Play. You push a button and it finds and locks in on the satellite!!. Portable and very light weight so if you are parked under trees you can put it where it can get a good signal.

dh was really good about getting that honed in (we have the same as what Mitch posted a picture of) however I couldn't when I went to ID
so didn't watch tv paid for but didn't use it...so I called when I got here to cancel it park has cable although not many of the shows I want..
but the price is right  I thought by canceling it I could redo the program perhaps be cheaper..she told me that they have a vacation program
can put it on 'vacation' for up to 6 months so decided to do that and right now I have two of those things so if any one wants one of them they are
welcome to it

the one I have cost a lot more, but all I have to do is push a button. It's on top of my rig. It unfolds and searches for the signal. We got it at Camping World. There is one just for Direct TV and one just for Dish.
