Soos, how scary for you. I hate the word cancer. Nothing can numb your mind quite like it, I think. It brought me to my knees almost 40 years ago now. Mine was different, but caught early and now I am still cancer free more than 30 years later. Keep the faith. I know from experience if the doctor thought it was really serious, you would not be waiting. I had my annual checkup on a Wednesday, biopsies on Monday and surgery on Thursday. I am taking comfort for you that it is not going that fast.

We are all pulling for you. {{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Soos,
I am sorry to hear you are going through this! Its very scary and the waiting is the WORST. Dawn is right, they would hustle you in if the doc thought it was needed. My F-I-L goes through this a few times a year now, poor guy, always seem like they wind up on his face and head!
Went through a melanoma diagnosis (lucky, caught early and a scar is my only souvenir) a few years ago and my wait for surgery was not long but it was worse than anything else I went through. PLEASE try not to stress.
Will be thinking of you!

Ditto what everyone else has already said, Soos. Waiting is the pits, but praying that you find peace during the wait & a quick remedy once they decide what the treatment needs to be. You'll be in my thoughts & prayers - hang tight. {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}

Sorry to hear this Soos. My friend in FL has these things removed every so often, mostly from her face, tho.

Are these the same spots that the doc up in NY said were "nothing"? (or am I thinking of something else?)

[quote="Nasoosie"][color=#800000][b]Yep----squamous cell carcinoma----skin cancer, is the pre-lab opinion of the doc who biopsied the lesions on both of my legs yesterday. Of course, one can always hope he is wrong, but chances are he is right on. He assured me, "It is curable"

I know it's a scarry word to hear. But, be not afraid. If it can't be just a "mole" or a "cyst" you want it to be "squamous cell carcinoma". That is the one that is the least offender and it is biopsied first than go back and get it cut out and you are good to go...I am sure you don't need me to tell you that there are degrees of "cancer" and even benign cancers. The "cureable" aspect is that they cut it out, stitch you up and off you go...cured. It is always a scarry word...but you will be just fine. Plan something extra extra special for yourself once it's all taken care of because you had to hear that wretched word you deserve something special...

hi soos! yes, im still alive! just been wrapped up in my silly life of doing not much,, but haven't been on the forum in a coon's age.

Just a note to say,,,not to worry. It's unreal how common that squamous cell thing is! You will be fine,,, but i know that's easy for me to say! all the previous comments are correct.,, tho. I know you will be glad when that crap is all gone off of ya! will happen soon.
heckfire! i probably have some on me too that i just haven't gone to the dr for yet,,, yeah yeah,, when my medicare kicks in! (next summer)
don't be paranoid and imagine all that cell dividing stuff. We must just think positive and be grateful we aren't facing worse,, like our dear friend Sprinter MAY be facing... (which we are all praying for NOT to be).

Keep us posted and keep having fun w/ all your other stuff. Have a great winter and just know that I am jealous cuz it's been in the 80's here still! and im sure tired of it! I know i should be grateful! sheesh!!

love ya!

Soos, For those of us who have been outdoorsy all our lives the majority of us will have at least one bout with this type of skin cancer..I get checked pretty often because of the kerotosis I have popping up...
KD, we know you're reading the posts but we aren't hearing from you enough...where are you and what are you doing?

Soos, it is those big dang words they use. Enough to scare the britches right off of you. My dermatologist never uses words, she just grabs the icer and burns them off. Usually on my arms that are exposed to the sun. This year it was one on the arm and one on my face.

But although those words are scary and especially when the one word you understand is the big "C" don't panic, be positive that things will be fine.

Now get the receipe ready and get yourself ready for a good time in January..

My husband and his sister have had to have things removed - sister in law has had a couple really bad ones- the dangerous kind...and his mother had breast cancer... don't freak out until there is definitive reason to. :) Hang in there. :) ((hugs))
