SKIN CANCER

Yep----squamous cell carcinoma----skin cancer, is the pre-lab opinion of the doc who biopsied the lesions on both of my legs yesterday. Of course, one can always hope he is wrong, but chances are he is right on. He assured me, "It is curable" whereupon I had hoped he would totally remove the offending hunks of crap yesterday. But NO----health insurance rules dictate that he just shave them off level with the skin and ship them to a lab to be examined. Meanwhile, the roots are still in me, probably dividing cells like crazy. Waiting for bad news has never been one of my fortes in my life. I have another appointment in 3 weeks----the 20th of December----to come up with a plan of action to "cure" me. Nothing will be done on that visit other than educating me about skin cancer and my options to treat it. I am so very excited about everything I have to look forward this month. His comment, "WOW---that one is a deep one!" gave me no comfort.

And I forgot to say RABBITS this morning.

Soos I had one cut off my upper arm several years ago. That doc too just shaved it off to send out then I had to go back and get the rest dug out. Now I have a scar that looks like another vaccination. And no more problems. think positive.
For the first time ever I remember to say Rabbits.

Wow - Soos, that sucks. But you caught it early. Think positive...think of experiences like Ann's.

don't stress Soos, melanoma is the one ya gotta worry about, squamous cell and basil cell are both slow growing and easy to remove. The melanoma
is the fast growing and requires the "cutting out" type of surgery. But I'll say my prayers and hope the lab tests prove its not a melanoma.

Three weeks of worry will seem much longer....It is times like these I try to remember the state of presence that the dogs live in....Hope you have plans to fill your days.... and that you have the strength to deal with the "professionals" with all the letters after their names. Tell them to get busy with appropriate treatments. You have to be ready to dance by January....

Oh Soos I'm so sorry but the good news is you caught it early.
I know from experience how bad the waiting can be but keep that positive attitude going and you will be as good as new very soon.
Tina is right, we need you dancing by the Jan gtg.

((Hugs)). I know waiting is the pits. The med professionals just don't understand what it's like. Like Ava said, the squamous cell type is slow growing and less threatening if caught early. I've had 2 removed. One from my nose and one from my back.

Sorry for the news, Soos. But good thing you caught it early. The wait will be awful, but drop by often and grumble if you need to.

The wait is horrible, Soos, but like us, the medical profession is under the thumb of the insurance companies. At least it's skin and not near any major parts of your internal workings, so that's a huge plus. I'm sure everything will come out fine even tho the wait is a PITA.

Soos, I'm in your corner too!!! Like the others have said it's good that you've caught it early. And probably like you? I'd like to swat the doc and tell him to hurry his azz up! Waiting for something when we were kids was bad enough and now that we are adult?? ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH

Soos, sorry to hear about the skin cancer but happy you are getting treatment. When they removed the cancer from my head they checked the sample as I waited. If the Dr needed to go deeper to get it all it was done right away. Sorry you have to wait. Praying for good news.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you but you do have to stay positive! Terri's cancer was melanoma and it metastasized into Stage 4 inoperable lung cancers and then moved to her brain. After her chemo sessions and stereotactic brain radiation, she is presently cancer free! So, you can definitely beat this thing!

Lots of prayers and positive thoughts together with the support of this wonderful group, you will be fine!

Soos: My 101 year old friend had one taken off her face which was fairly deep. Can't tell it was ever there. Relax.
