Always use Diamond Lamb and Rice. It's what the breeder recommended.

Many will recommend a food with lamb or venison or fish because the chicken and beef have been found to trigger allergies in some dogs.....along with the usual wheat and corn, etc. so folks have to go to a ingredient that the dog's system has not experienced before.

Ole Roy is one of the first dog foods made in China. For that reason, I would never consider Ole Roy. Beneful has turned out to be bad enough but my dogs did ok for over 5 years on it. There are so many stories out there, it's really hard to know what to believe sometimes.

This was the only breeder who had recommended Diamond. I've always used a lamb and rice formula for our Bostons because the breed tends to be quite gassy and lamb and rice tends to control it! Several years ago when we still had two Bostons there was a severe winter and we ran out of dog food and I wasn't able to get out of town (remember extremely small town with few shopping options) and I had to buy some regular dog food. Going to bed at night with two extremely flatulent Bostons makes a person wish they had a gas mask....unfortunately they weren't available in town either.

The first time I brought my son's Boston Terrier to the vet as a puppy the vet said something about them having a gas problem. That hadn't come up in my research. Butch liked to sit by your feet and when he took off you knew what was coming. He knew we were going to yell.

We are feeding Hank some kind of food that is suppose to clean his teeth. I think it's made by Purina and I have only found it at the vet's. It's about $68 a bag but the bag last's a while. I just took him for his 6 month heartworm shot and his teeth are looking good. Hope it works and we don't have to have his teeth cleaned every year.

My two are the silent but deadly type - when they are "asleep". And I haven't noticed it as much since they went to a better food.

We've always fed our dogs Eukanuba Lamb and Rice. When Remi was still alive, he was the typical male, he'd just let them rip, LOUD! You can always tell when Weatherby has gas, he tucks his tail and runs. We say the Poot-Monster is after him!

Luke has always been hilarious. When he passes gas, he jumps up and turns around quickly as if he thinks his rear end has just been blown off. He always goes in a circle and looks at his tail. The other two are the silent but deadly kind. Doesn't phase them.

I've almost always been able to control my dog's gas by the foods they eat. Luckily Peaches doesn't have a gassy problem. I shouldn't have typed that and did not say it out loud - or she would have tried to figure out what it is and do it.

Beth, I agree with the food. Since I have been feeding much better food over the last few years, they don't have the problem like they used to. Every now and again, Luke still jumps up, goes in a circle and looks at his tail.
