We are having torrential rains here in Oregon right now. I successfully navigated my way home around all the standing water thinking to myself "gee, I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere tonight." We got about 2" of rain today.
I walked in the door and my cell phone starts ringing off the hook. I answer it and its the storage place where I keep my trailer. "You need to come get your trailer. The water is almost to the bottom of it." WHAT??? Oh crap oh crap oh crap...So, I take the dog out real quick in the pouring rain then come in and change out of my work clothes into my "crab fishing in the Bering Sea" clothes. Wouldn't you know I couldn't find a working flashlight....I blast out to the storage lot and its a very busy place. Oh, did I mention it was PITCH BLACK outside and raining cats and dogs and cows and sheep and goats....I digress....I hook up the trailer standing in about 6 inches of water and move it to the entrance of the storage place (outside the fence...sigh) in a place that appears to be safe. I tried to put the hitch lock on it because its outside the fence and of course I couldn't turn the key. It picked a fine time to BREAK!
I am now home where I see the power was off today because everything with a digital clock is BLINKING at me. My "crab fishing in the Bering Sea" clothes are hanging up so they can dry. I did learn tonight that gortex doesn't last forever....my gortex coat that I've had for about 10 years is soaked through. I guess i need to go buy a new one. Gortex is a necessity here in Oregon LOL
It could've been SO much worse. I'm so thankful that the storage people called me. In case you're wondering why they didn't call earlier, I don't care. They called. I wouldn't have been able to leave work early anyway and it would've been way worse sitting at work wondering if my trailer was floating towards the ocean.
I look forward to tomorrow being a better day.
