Good morning Carol & everyone!

Carol, you wouldn't believe all the laughs you have given me reading your posts. I would never have thought of all the ways to spell not being able to have the letter "u." You do an amazing job!

After I get a workout in this morning, I'll be leaving to spend the day and night with my parents. Whatever needs to be done, or they want done, I'll try my best to do it for them. They are totally dependent on others and if it weren't for the two nurses that work for them six days a week, they would probably be in a nursing home, but this way they can still live in their house.

Our turkey is in the refrigerator thawing and in a couple days, we'll put it in the brine for 24 hours. Then it'll go in the oven on Thursday. It'll be just the two of us for Thanksgiving, but we'll have all the makings, as if 10 people were here. We have so much to be thankful for. Have a good day everyone!

Good morning all,
I agree - lots of laughs from the 'mom' posts yesterday. Guess moms are all alike. :D
We had a great turn out at our first Peanut Brittle Sunday - the second generation eventually took over & taught us how to pull the brittle until it was paper thin. Lots of laughs & visiting going on trying to figure out what each of us are doing for Thanksgiving day... My older sister has never cooked a turkey!!! Her daughter took my cell #, just in case, on T day. Another sister helped mom make the dressing last year, so she passed down those instructions. :) So between all of us, I think we'll each end up preparing something suitable for our families. ;) The 2 youngest brothers & wife/fiance will be stopping at each sibs house participating in it all. :D
Irmi, I, too, love seeing carolb's posts - her creativity makes me chuckle. Maybe loosing that 'ew' was part of God's overall scheme to give us morning smiles. :?
need to get to work now - everyone have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone!

Lori, cannot wait. Love to see your surprise visitors.

Hope it doesn't take all day for MySweetDream's repairs.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner Irmi. We are doing the same thing here. Will be just the 3 of us, but Paul and I are fixing enough for quite a few more. I don't know how you would be able to make Thanksgiving Dinner with all the fixings and not have enough for 10. I bought the smallest turkey I could find and it's still over 12 lbs. going to be putting my food saver and new little freezer to work.

Carolb I was laughing at the Mom stories too. I have to say it was mostly because I am that Mom. I know it. Can't help it. I took over making the Thanksgiving Dinner and mostly all of the cooking for my family when I was 15. Mom had to work 2 full time jobs to support us kids when we were growing up. Back then after a divorce, if the Dad decided he was not going to pay Child Support, there was not much you could do about it. After getting married, everyone always came to our house. I cooked the bulk of the dinner. Would only let kids, siblings, Mom and in-laws bring side dishes or desserts. Everyone knows not to mess with my kitchen or cooking.

Planning on another quiet day today. I need to update the maps on my GPS. Mom and I ordered Paul's Hannukah gifts last night. She is giving him an RV GPS and I am giving him all the accessories. He will be so excited. Haven't figured out everyone else. Hate to say thinking mostly gift cards this year. Have to figure out what to get for Mom too. That's definitely harder. Maybe an iPad so she can FaceTalk with her sister and have her books and magazines. She does pretty good with her iPhone.

Need to get the dogs up and out. Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Happy Monday morning everyone,

Stopping in for a short visit here before I head off to gym class. Been a busy morning here. Up at a bit after 6, a load of wash through the washer and now in the dryer. Shopping list made up for somethings I need and also on sale, bowl of cereal and strawberries in the tummy, dogs pottied and pilled and hmmm, let's see, what else....

Irmi, since you are making so much food for two people, what times is dinner, I"ll be right over  Maybe some of the others will be along in line too. Glad to hear that your cleanup is almost over and now you are heading for your parents to help them out. Such energy and dedication. Our paretns took care of us our whole lives so far, so it's tme for us to return it to them. Mine are gone now, but the memories remain.

And yes, I too have been enjoying your posts Carolb. Starts my day laughing at all the ways you create words without a "yew". Very creative. If you ever get a "u" back someday, none of us will be able to read your posts

Gee, reading about mom's in the kitchen was so much fun. Our holiday dinners were always wrapped around whomever's turn it was to do the dinner that year, mom and my two aunts. So it was always busy and sometime confusing in the kitchen as the ladies worked, the men watched football and us kids amused ourselves. Was always noise, laughter and sometimes an ocassional arguement, the usual family holiday time. After moving up here, dinners were between us and my aunt next door, so we did some, she did some. But when things were just about ready, the potatoes needed mashing, the turkey was coming out etc., then things got really busy and mom was the kitchen boss. Lots of good memories from those years and I miss them. Think about how it was every year during the holidays. But it is apart of the cycle life and as we pass on, the children from the next generation carry on the traditions.

But I am so grateful for all of you on this forum, making my day, giving me info when I ask or need it and just being "friends". There are so many of you I would love to meet and hopefully will down the road. There seems to be imaginary "Thanksgiving Dinner" cropping up in Campfire I think it was and boy if it was real, what a feast we could have and what a great time could be had by all.

Well, enough talk of food for this morning. Now I really need to go to the gym and work it all off  Everyone have a wonderful day here.

Good morning all...I am up way too early...always happens when I telework from home ans COULD sleep in longer, but noooo! Wide awake, so I will get logged in early and be done with work early! The various Mom stories are in the Sunday Morning Coffee, Lorna! They were entertaining!

I went out to FooFoo yesterday. Two weeks ago I was out there and wanted to drain out the stinky water from the hot water heater. I went on to check air in the tires. When I went back inside, I realized I'd left the bathroom spigot on...ran ALL the fresh water out of the tank into the grey tank. So yesterday I had to move FooFoo to the wash rack to dump all that water...just the grey...and put in more water so I can keep some water in the pipes and toilet. I washed the front end and the windshield cover while was at it. Then as I tried to navigate back to my spot, there was an RV in the other wash space, so I had to get into the space going the wrong way...but I guess there is no right or wrong. I am such a creature of habit. From day one, the lot guy had me park facing south, so I've always gone that way. Turns out it doesn't matter so long as you are between the lines! But Foo Foo now has a half cup of bleach in her fresh water tank and pipes for a couple of weeks til I go out and run thru fresh water.

Nearly 0630, so it is time to log into work...only five more Mondays to log in...whahoooooo! Have a great day everyone! :D

I loved the MOM stories as well. My mom was not much of a cook on a day to day basis. I think I inherited that gene  My dad died and she raised us by herself. But at holidays it was always mom and her sisters in the kitchen together. The laughing that came from that kitchen!!! One year my uncle carved the turkey at the table with 15 of us watching. So Rockwell :!: He was scooping out the stuffing and all these pieces of paper were in the stuffing. My aunt started laughing and the three sisters all chocked, spit on their whine and were almost hysterical. In all their fun, they had put the stuffing in the turkey, but forgot to remove the packet of giblets, gizzard & neck along with the instructions. Then they looked at one of the aunts and asked what the chunks were in the gravy, if they weren't the giblets and neck meat. She rolled with laughter and thought her son had stole those prize pieces for his dog. Not wanting to rat out her son she used chicken bouillon cubes to make the stock and added various leftovers from the refrigerator as substitutions. It all tasted good anyway

It is such a beautiful day. Clear, blue skies. About 55. Had some quick cereal. Headed out to the post office and grocery store. Everyone have a blessed day. Stay safe at home or on the road. Aloha y'all

Good morning!
Had a busy day yesterday....my Thanksgiving celebration with oldest dd and grandsons. They came for the day. After church we went to the McIntosh Community Thanksgiving dinner (great way to get out of cooking). In the afternoon we went Zip-lining. Here's a butt shot of me:
Image

Today I'm frittering the morning away here, slept late. Abs are sore from all the crunches I did on the zip line course yesterday. Overcast and chilly again outside. Laundry is in my immediate future. Ho-hum.

I like to spend the down time planning my next adventure. I also enjoy reading about every one else's adventures....gives me ideas. I have a series of day trips around north central FL planned for after I get through all the dr. appts. And a longer trip planned around southern GA for sometime. These are to visit some parks and historical places I usually drive right by on my way to somewhere else!

So, what's your next adventure?

Wendy, I was going through the channels last night or this morning and saw one of the Rattlesnake idiots standing in a field in his socks. Changed the channel because I can't watch snake shows. One was talking about how much money they could make and I'm thinking you are going to have a $100,000 medical bill if you get bit.

Spent 30 minutes cleaning my van this morning so I could take the dog for his shot. We didn't get on the road before he found something to chew on. I try to get there early so I can walk him around outside so he can get his peeing done. The vet took him from me and wasn't watching him and he peed on the counter. My back has been bothering me the last few days and I think I figured out what caused it. It's the 40 pound bags of cat food that come from the feed store.

I have to take Pepper cat for her checkup this afternoon. The vet wants to do some senior blood work. He said he might have to sedate her a little to draw blood. She has bit him before. She is pissed because she has to be in the carrier. Knowing her she will use the bathroom in there before it's over with.

Need to go pick up my stuffed chicken. That meat market is one busy place between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would like to know how many chickens they debone and stuff. I cooked a pan of biscuit dough and cornbread for my stuffing yesterday and put it in the freezer. Trying to decide whether to make my dressing and freeze it or wait until Thursday to make it. Hate to be so rushed trying to cook too many thing at one time.

Liz, you are one brave woman. A zip line is not something that is on my bucket list.

Martha - I go ahead and chop the celery and onion ahead of time. You can even go ahead and cook it with some stock to speed that part up. I go ahead and throw some of the seasoning in the stock. Then on Thursday, it's just a matter of mixing it all together and throwing it in the pan to bake.

GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL!

I am here in the trailer on my brand new Verizon MiFi wireless modem that was easy to set up and get running! I opted for the 250 megs and one week usage this first time, until I find out how much data I use. I will only need it for this next 5 days, as the kids will be back on Friday from DC, and then I use theirs. BAck in Orlando, I have cable internet----so this is a test! I need to call someone and ask how I monitor how much data time I use as soon as I get off here.

The Thanksgiving prep stories are bringing back such neat memories of Thanksgivings past at my Grandparents' house. Gigi was the cook in our family, although my mother could cook somewhat equal to me----which is nearly not at all! I plan to buy a turkey and cook it on Saturday when the kids get back, as I will be alone for the holiday and I will miss turkey if I dond't cook it. I am going to try Gigi's bread pudding, too, if I can remember the recipe. It has double boiler hot sauce that goes over the top of it! YUM!

Time for me to get off here and get some lunch and cal Verizon to learn how to monitor my usage on this thingy!

Happy Monday to all! Looks as if Liz is as active as ever out over those cliffs!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
