So sorry Sarah to hear it was this time of year yew lost yore DH :( Yew had no choice abot starting new traditions--hard to go on as "normal" after losing yore loved one...And Kathleen, glad yew "passed the test"!!! Those kids of yores trying to keep "granny" off the road??? Thank goodness there are social service agencies to set them in their place ;) Only a half day of school today, so I get to start my wkend early--probably start some major howse-cleaning for the coming holiday. My sis & her DH will be in town on Tews, so I'll have them over for pie-making on Wed, along with owr bro & a bottle or two of wine! She's the one who prodded me to get on the road in an RV! :) Wise little sis! To all, have a great day, be safe on the road & keep those loved ones close to yore heart!

Good Morning Carolb and all,

I can hear the "holiday" excitment in your posts Carol. Sounds like you are getting ready and looking forward to it. Sarah, I'm sorry too, that the holiday isn't a good memory day for you, but I know of others who are the same way. And many times it doesn't even have to be an "anniversary" of a loved ones passing, but just a passing altogether that makes the holidays hard to get through.

Was thinking last night about how times have changes during the holidays. Used to be you never saw anything "Christmas" till the day after Thanksgiving. Families were closer, everything was closed, we gathered together, watched the parades, the ladies did thier thing in the kitchen, the men discussed the issues of the day or whatever and children played until it was time to sit down to a table laden with food and give thanks and eat and eat and eat. The stores opened the next day all decked out in Holiday finery and it was a magical time. People were usually off work and we went shopping and took in the sights and sounds of Christmas.

Now, families are scattered across the country, Christmas is in the stores before Halloween, and it overshadows Thanksgiving with it's commercialism. People are already decorating and even Christmas lights are on and Thanksgiving isn't even here yet. If families are able to gather, the day is spent getting the dinner ready, in between plotting the "Black Friday shopping lists of who is going to which store to get the bargains. And now many stores are getting on this Thanksgiving evening "Black Thursday" opening. So soon as dinner is over, things get cleaned up and by evening the ladies are out the door and heading for the mall to get in line with thousands of others to grab the bargains before they are gone. The holidays have turned into a frenzied mess. No wonder by the time Christmas gets here, people are all stressed out. And even for those who work in those stores, Thanksgiving is short if they have it at all. Doesn't it make you wonder how it's going to be in future years?

Well, got my annual checkup done yesterday. Now need to get those other "woman" things out of the way. The mammo and she wants me to get a colonoscopy done as well  I'm not really in favor of that, but I know others of you have done it, so I will jump on the bandwagon. I do have cancer running through my family, so it's best to be on the safe side.

Today I have a mandatory retraining seminar to attend as part of collecting unemployment. Then off to the store to pick up a few things and back home. Weather has been beautiful and is supposed to stay that way through Thanksgiving. Cool but nice.

Dawn, I will be interested to see how your WiFi antenna does for you. I'm looking into one that plugs directly into my computer and can pick up closer signals, even from inside the car if I want. There is a srouter upstairs from the unit I will be using next month, but my computer is not strong enough to pick it's signal up through the upper flooring and cement block walls. If I go outside and a bit toward where the router is located, then I can pick it up. But it's too cold for that this time of year. Sso I'm thinking if I have an antenna and it's by the window, it might bring it in for me.

Well, enought chatting for this morning. Off to check emails and get cleaned up, the day rolling and what not. Have a wonderful day all of you. If you are on the roads, please travel safe.

Good morning Carolb, Sue, and all,

I'm so glad someone posted it's Friday. I got up thinking it was Saturday and dressed prepared to head out to the Cross Creek Festival to help with Christian Face Painting all day. I didn't sleep well last night and was not looking forward to it in the cool, cloudy weather. So, thanks to you, I have another day before I have to do that.

I hadn't planned anything for today, so now I will have to think about it. I need to get out and get some exercise, so hope it warms up and stays dry so I will feel like doing that. Yesterday was gloomy too, so I spent the day looking over maps and other sources, planning my next trip. That's always fun, and it's how I discover interesting places to visit along my route.

Hope everyone takes advantage of this extra day ;) and does something fun!

Morning Carolb, Sue, Liz and all.

Sitting here drinking a cup or two of coffee before I have to get up and start stowing everything away for the trip down the road today. It's only about 140 miles that we intend to go today, so planning on getting on the road around 10 or so. Will have to stop and get propane on the way. I think Paul has to fill up with gas. I got to fill up during my driving lesson. Instructor had me pull into station and then had to figure out how to make a circle and get back out to the light again. Luckily there was plenty of room and hardly any gas customers at the time. Got about 30 more minutes to enjoy this coffee then hit the ground running. I still have some stuff stowed from the driving lesson day. The dogs and I have been sleeping on 1/2 the bed because the other half still has the normal things on it for a driving day.

I have certainly enjoyed our stay at the Rainbow's End Escapees Park. Everyone here has been so friendly and the sites are plenty big. I am now thinking, as we travel, will be looking for Escapees parks if any are close to where we want to be. I am definitely looking forward to a time when we don't have to be any particular place at any particular time. We are getting closer and closer to that.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe/

It is afternoon and I have returned from my doctor app and also lunch with my daughter... it seems that my doctor agrees with my children... he said right now I am fine but I am the best I ever will be and it is downhill from here... now that is a gloomy thought...
I will get a grip and hang on for the ride...

Sorry, Kathleen, that is hard to hear. As long as you are true to yourself in how you feel and what you can do, I would cling to the "right now I am fine" as long as you can. It doesn't mean you will start downhill tomorrow or even next year. You will know when you hit that slippery slope.

Kathleen, I think I would change doctors after that. I mean, we are all heading for death from the day we're born. Doesn't mean it'll be tomorrow - although for some it will be. However, we have to live with the glass 1/2 full philosophy. What he said to you is enough to cause many of his patients to go into decline. We need to look positively, while striving for whatever we can do. You need to live based on what YOU can do - and Liz just said that very well.

I agree with what Beth said, I would change doctors! That was a terrible thing to tell someone and doctor of all people should know better. Like Liz said, cling to the right now. Remember, a positive attitude is very good 'medicine so please think positively!

.

I say a new doctor is in order. What a ridiculous statement for a medical professional to make.

Hugs, Kathleen.

Kathleen....you really need to change doctors cause this one is pretending to be God.....You and only you know what you can or can't do.....and you should listen to that little voice inside that's talking to you....can't believe he spoke to you like that....don't think I would have let him off with anything less than a good kick in the pants......

Ditto. Fire that doctor. I hate the way some Docs (and our kids too) treat seniors. They can be so patronizing. Nobody knows what is best for you, except you.

Oh my when the tables are turned and Mom is the one doing her thing and having fun , kids want to make sure we are safe and know where we are so they don't have to worry about us. Kathleen, you know what you can and can't do, don't let ANYONE change your life unless you agree, I think we all know what our limits are and when our routes have to be revised. I won't go into the dr thoughts, only to say he sure wouldn't be mine !

Love ya lady,

I too, can't believe a doctor would say that! That is depressing! If you keep a positive attitude and keep yourself active and healthy, you can do whatever you want, until your body says otherwise, not your doctor or kids!
