Moving day

Well it is finally here....moving day
I have never had movers before, so what a new experience! I've been trying to get stuff packed up and Carra keeps running behind me "they will do that!" So as I sit here listening to the guys pack away...I just know I should be in there helping
Oldest GS (8)packed his wii and "accessories" the other day - too funny! LOTS of extra paper, how about some of those air bags, and enough tape the King Kong can't rip the box open and written ALL over the box "fragle" - oops, think you missed an i buddy!
As I said a new experience, can't wait for it to be over! Carra asked if I wanted them to unpack a least the kitchen stuff...NO not that, I'll never find anything then! Oh, and we are to have Tgiving dinner at the new place - help!!

Now Zee, this is the part I am going to blame on you The new kitchen has more counter space, encouraging me to do more cooking.... ZEE, if you would please stop posting all of that wonderful food! My mother's family was Italian and I so miss those special holiday treats. So I am going to try to make biscotti style annisette cookies and I am buying a pizzelle maker. For those of you asking what a pizzelle maker is...one of my all time favorites...waffle cookies! Both of these cookies were a tradition in the Italian community at Christmas time and the neighbors all benefited!

Keep you fingers crossed that I can get the new house transformed in time for next week!

Wow! Good luck with that!! GF, that's gonna be a lot of work, try and stay sane! I'd help if I was there. I've never had movers before, always did it the hard way. Let me know how that worked out, I may be moving next year. Keep us posted on how it's going.

Sure, sure, sure..go ahead blame poor little ole me. OMG what can I say..hahaha. Hey I've made so many cookies I feel like I could put Nabisco to shame. Wedding, Christenings, baby showers, wedding showers, engagements and to be ( the latest) engaged. My fingers have rolled so many ropes of dough for them special cookies with the lemon icing. Oh yeah biscotti of all kinds and pizzelles...so now I'm glad to hear you is gonna get to work and make goodies too...you know misery loves company

Psst ya got a toaster Hahahaha just ask Dawn hahaha. I sit upon a toaster and help hahaha even willing to take lessons too.

As an experienced military wife moving frequently, I can tell you that your job is to ensure that the movers are not coding boxes and furniture as scratched, broken, chipped, etc., when they are not. Also, to ensure that boxes actually reflect what is in the box. It is not unusual at all to find kitchen items in bedroom boxes, etc. just to fill up the boxes. Also keep a close eye on what damage is done as they pack and move. Tendency is to not pack as well as this is a within town move but things break just as easily in 10 miles as they do in 1000 miles.

10 miles down the road to my kids property...smaller house, no yard work and someone to keep an eye on the place when I'm on the road. Should have already been done, long story....

Here's wishing you a successful and uneventful move. I learned when moving to plan something in the house (house-warming if nothing else) 1 week or so away. It forced me to get everything done - including pictures on the walls, instead of looking at boxes for months and months, which would happen otherwise. I remember my last move to a house, moved one Sunday, had the house-warming the next. I think I was more motivated because a couple people told me it couldn't be done (I was working full-time) and IT WAS DONE. I guess that prepared me for the organizing, etc when I downsized to the rv. So someone explain to me how I keep collecting and this rv is overfull now?

Sharon - totally understand. Time to make things easier on YOU.

Sharon - sounds like a great idea. Keep us posted. I'm thinking smaller yard - less work for me!! Still wouldn't have a place to park RV though so it would need to be stored as it is now.

And as another experienced military wife...be sure the garbage is out cause they are known to pack that, too... Nothing like having your TX garbage showing up in Germany.... Colleen is so right on all the other stuff, too...

Enjoy the movers and your new home. I agree with the thought that cookies ship. We'll all be your taste testers. Hard job, but someone has to do it.
