Thursday thots

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday thots

Postby carolb » Thu Nov 15, 2012 6:04 am

Good morning...hmmm, where to start...Zeee, soooo sorry for the hard times for yore fam, & now a trial for a past tragedy  Many prayers go owt to yew...AND Red, THANKS for "venting"--no, not venting, rather sharing what many people are feeling as the holidays approach. What to say? We were raised in a society that still lived & loved within the extended family. Now, the love is still there, bt we're a society of great mobility, & loved ones are miles apart...Okay, what I'm trying to say, I'm thankfol for all of yew. I've been transient most of the past 20 years & lately realize the loneliness of it. To find others in a similar state, well, that's where y'all come in...Bottom line: yes, we can begin new traditions, bt the memories of gramma sitting in her rocker & smiling, well, they are always there, heart-warming, yet awakening a longing that brings tears to one's eyes. I read Bether's description of walking her dog (don't remember which topic) in response to someone's poignant comment abot the faithfolness of owr 4-legged loved ones. Don't know when I'll stop crying having read that. Almost 10 months since I lost my beloved Bo, & thinking how he was everything to me & my reason for even waking on Cmas morning--or any other morning....Got my HarBor now, got my sisters on this forem, gotta get on with those new traditions, like it or not :(, gotta get on the road! :P Y'all have a great, safe day!

Good morning Carol, Beth & everyone!

Carol, I agree with Beth. Well said.

It's another chilly day in MD and we'll get up to 50 or so today, which is below average for this time of the year, but at least the sun will be shining.

After a workout this morning, the clean-up continues. I found a Vehicle Maintenance Manual I started about eight years ago in the bottom drawer of a file cabinet which was saturated. I've just about got it dried out and will keep it as is. I'm hoping the diningroom will be put back together for Thanksgiving dinner next week. We have so much to be thankful for.

I hope all of those on the road are safe. Carol, how is your grandson? And I hope everyone else is doing well.

Good Morning Carob, Beth and all,

Carol, you summed up the holiday moods of many of us very well. We all think of passed loved ones at this time of year and the traditions of the holidays we had. But even though we may not see them and not be able to do the traidtions we once did, they are there in spirit, because we remember them at this time. In cases where out of town children are involved, they carry some of the traditions along with them, of how they spent their holidays at home, and they in turn will start those traditions wherever they are and if they have children of their own, they will be passed down. Just as it was from our parents to us. The cycle of life goes on.

A cloudy morning here this morning. Nothing earthshaking in the weather forecast for the next week. I'm getting my appts. and so forth whittled down slow but sure. Today is yearly checkup and then probably a few stops before heading home.

Keep looking at the local RV dealers lot here when I go by to see of that little MH is still there. Yep. Not that I am going to buy one right now, not ready financially, but guess I just want to see how long it stays there. It's about 22ft. Shasta. Either 2000 or 2002 I think. Looks really nice from pictures I saw on the website. On consignment. At this point I am not sure just what I want in terms of RV. Maybe a small van camper or perhaps Class C. If I were just staying in MI, I probably would get another TT perhpas, but I want to travel out west and not sure I want to pull a TT alone, altho others of you do it. I know I can just hear it "c'mon chicken, if we can, you can"

Oh yeah, was wondering if anybody out there has had experience with a WiFi antenna? Am kind of looking into it as I can't get the WiFi into my unit up north there due to cement block walls etc. Kind of thought maybe an antenna will pull the signal in stronger as I can get it if I go outside and closer to the location of the router, keep it until i go back in my place and poof, gone.

Well, I'm outta here. Not going to waste your time talking about nothing this morning. So wishing you all a really nice day.

Sue, just got a wifi antenna but have not found anyone to install it yet. As soon as I do, will let you know how it is working.

Slept in until about 6:30 this morning but Belle woke me up at midnight and we were all outside for a few minutes. Haven't heard a peep from Mom and Bitsey yet this morning. On mornings like this, I fix the coffee and then just sit on my bed with iPad and TV to watch the morning news. It feels so good not to have to be somewhere at a specific time this morning. Paul's new tires are supposed to be in after 10 this morning so when he leaves, we get to babysit Sugar and Bo. As hyper as Sugar can be, will seem like the rig is full of nothing but dogs. This is mean, but glad I will be working outside today.

Been thinking all night about how to shift my weight around over my axles. Have a few ideas of what can be moved where. Then will check the charts I got yesterday to make sure my tire air pressure is right for the weight over the axles. Having actual information and charts is so much better than just shooting in the dark and hoping all is OK.

I am still behind on reading the posts. Does anyone know how Joan is doing?

Hey Sue - C'mon Chicken!!!!!!   :P

Got my truck out of the shop so we will be able to hook up and head north tomorrow for our DOG. Red, if don't have anything else to do (yeah, right), drive on over Saturday and see what it's all about. Hey after you visited me the last time, you ended up with a 5er, no telling what would happen this time  :D

Went to PetSmart and bought Oscar a ramp last night - needed it this weekend. Man, I wish I had been able to wait for the mails to buy Karen's. They didn't have one like hers and the one model they did have was E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E!!!

Good Morning
I was shocked to discover that Thanksgiving is next week. Guess my perception of time is in trouble. I am so not ready for any holidays and this one is especially difficult as my husband passed away unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Day - 15 years ago and sometimes it still seems like yesterday.
My niece is doing well following her knee replacement surgery last Tuesday. It has been two long days at hospital for me; fortunately was able to find someone else to stay with her at night. On my way back up there in a few minutes.
Better get moving. Will have to try to play catch up on other posts later.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning all. I'm sitting I'm waiting room at neurosugeon. Not sure why I agreed to this appt. No way I'll consider neck surgery. It's cold....for an island girl. The winters here are mild, so I do ok. I hate the summers. I've spent the 1st half of my life at the beach in SoCal and the rest in the islands. So I have a lot to learn about "winterizing". Last might we had a freeze coming, so I drug my big hibiscus trees into the garage. after Dr appt I'm gonna take myself.to breakfast. Wishing everyone a great day. Stay safe. Aloha y'all

Good Morning... wow a full room today as usual... Thanks Carol... I am home but alone also... will see my daughter once a week not at all like FL and having someone next door visiting every day... will visit here and wish I was there! we have such a safe place to talk about what bothers us...

Yesterday I had a planned visit from a lady from PATH she is an in home senior counselor... I have been so concerned about family wanting me to sell things even my motor home and get rid of my Shadow... she is qualified to evaluate a person and see if they need to make a move... well as those of you that know me she found no reason for me to make a change... now to get this across to my loving children... they have my best interest at heart and are not mean spirited in any way... The counselor will meet with all of us if the need arises... I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and will also ask his input he has known me for over 10 years... whew talk about unloading...

The lady that is cleaning for me cleaned my bedroom yesterday... wow she found a whole nother dog under the bed... half a vacuum cleaner full of Shadow hair... I cannot get under the bed... bless Bonnie's ability and willingness... I do the center of the rooms and they look ok but as everyone knows there are corners and under things that get very dusty!!

Red if I were near I would gladly go to breakfast with you!! maybe one day we will meet... Sarah thinking of your niece and you this day...

Today will be finishing up sorting the 3 drawer storage from Bright Hope and getting it ready to put back in... that will be done after reading posts and doing games on Facebook!!
Have a great day

I'm late (it's still morning somewhere, right?)...

We're going on our second day parked out front of my new grandbaby's home in Riverside, CA. Spent nearly the entire day with her yesterday-most of it alone- one on one time and I have her again today. It's weird. Awesome, but weird. Alone in the rig with a 7 month old and the dogs. Got up early and helped hubby off to his commute back to L.A. -he and my son have to go square away the lease and take a first load to his new apartment. (15 days left of our apartment left to get rid of things---I had temporarily forgotten about all that until now. Wow. It's like being sucked into a new time and space inside this RV--or maybe it's a TARDIS [for those DrWho fans]!)

Something new- I gave my granddaughter a bath in the RV today... soo much easier than the one time I tried in our apartment; the shower head and easy turn off switch at the head made things easy and fun... for me... she didn't like it. (I'm not sure if she's had a bath in that manner...she seemed as if she'd never experienced such a thing. Weird.) OH well, she now looks and smells divine--- and now it's time to eat her... I mean she's sleeping soundly and peacefully on the floor near my dinette, surrounded by her things and using my dogs "snuggle sack" as a sleeping bag.

Other than monitoring battery life on my computer and the house...and then running the generator if needed...I'm just sitting here waiting for her to wake up and processing photos I took of her yesterday (her first day with me here in the rig- what fun she had in the bunk area!!)... and passing the time.

My thoughts are with those having a tough time... and I hope all a good (rest) of day.

Maggie, my reaction to your comment is

Dawn, I will be waiting to hear how your antenna works. There are antenna's out that can be hooked right up to your computer ISB port and kept by your computer or extended across a room too.

There are antennas and there are repeaters (and other names for both, of course). Some are to boost YOUR signal (your Verizon or AT&T card, for example). Others are to boost a wifi signal that you are picking up from outside. I've had the first kind with not the best of luck (but think that was because I had a computer with a really GOOD signal already). I've traveled with some people who had the 2nd kind and have thought of getting it one day. The one they were using was awesome in allowing connections to wifi signals that at first almost weren't even appearing on their computers. I can't remember the one being used - but the following has good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005UB ... epocshe-20 It's called a repeater - as it's grabbing the signal and repeating it - without as much loss, supposedly.

Now, again, that one is for catching other wifi signals and making them better. If you want to make YOUR signal better from your mifi, for example, that requires an antenna.

What I have is an external antenna, an internal antenna and an amplifier. It is made for motorhomes and put out by Millenicom, which is who I have my mifi with. I just have to find someone to install it. Paul could, but says he does not want to drill holes in my rig. When we get back to Fort Worth, will check with Car Toys to see if they will. That is what they do on large trucks, not sure about MH's though. I may see if the tech, Craig, at CW in Fort Worth can do it for me. He put all my other items in and he did a good job with everything I needed done.
