I remember Jean and I having to pay a bribe when we went down Baja. We fought and got it down to very little, but he wasn't going to leave till we paid. How lucky you were to have witnesses, including an important one. I know he didn't report him because they hate anyone losing a job - and they don't get paid all that well. But that's no excuse for bribery.

That said - how pretty everything is. Are you better off getting the peppers at Walmart instead of vendors?

Bill's Spanish was used with the policeman - but not with the Minister who spoke better English than me. Actually with the policeman Bill used quite a few words in English that I hope the policeman didn't understand.
Beth, actually haven't seen any produce vendors around here - And by staying here today we missed the farmer's market just outside of Huatabampito - maybe next week. But I think most of the produce now is brought in from other areas.
Another beautiful sunset tonight - need to down and upload it.

I am really enjoying your trip through Mexico. It is not someplace I have ever considered going. I guess because of all the bad publicity the border towns get. It sure is pretty where you are.

Glad it all turned out well for you. Amazing that the Minister was there when this all happened. I'm sorry to say that "la mordida" is the reason why I swore never to go back to Mexico. We went by train from California to Mexico City via Guadalajara. Then flew out of Mexico City to El Salvador. I can't tell you the number of times we were victims of la mordida - and we were Spanish speaking - didn't make any difference. Hopefully you won't experience it anymore on your journey. I love the pictures you've posted along with the interesting commentary. Praying for your safe travels.
