Postby carolb » Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:53 am

Good morning ladies! :D Yep I was the last to post last night, & now back to being first? Hope everyone had a good night's sleep! I'm off to school again this morning. SS payday for me, yippee! Lovin' retirement--that part especially. Again, I've been browsing other topics. So many things going on! Now, I'm still wondering abot Joan & the heart operation? That one is a mystery to me--is she the same "Joanne" who doesn't post, bt reads? Well, whichever Joan/Joanne it is, has there been any word abot the s-rgery? ...Down to a week before Tday. Hope yore all getting in the spirit of the holidays & have safe travels if yore heading to see fam/friends. Y'all have a great day, & again, safe travels to those on the road! :P

Morning Carolb and all who follow.

Drinking my coffee and waking up before I have to stow everything for my weigh in and then driving lesson. I am so glad I did not take out anything for outside. Did not put up any chairs, etc. We have just been sitting at the picnic table. Only have to stow what is inside. Have definitely learned my lesson and will stow the laptop in a drawer with clothes for protection. The dogs have all been outside and they are all enjoying the heat here in the rig. It's still cool outside, but not as cold as yesterday.

I am more anxious about the driving lesson than I am about the weigh in. I already have a plan in mind if and when I weigh in overweight. Talked to the lady at the Care Center yesterday and I can donate my sewing machine, serger, all my jewelry making supplies and my books on quilting and crafts. Going to take the broken computer out of here before I weigh because that is going to Paul if Gateway says they can send him the components to fix it. I believe I will just keep a laptop from here on out. Will get a USB drive to back everything up so if this goes out, I can just reload from the USB. I still need to do the tutorial for Windows 8 to figure out how to do the settings I like. This laptop goes to sleep much too quickly for me. Also need to be able to have slideshow screen saver for my pictures. Use it like a digital frame.

I am still days behind on all the postings. We have become more gregarious. Maybe I can do some catching up at our next stop. We leave here tomorrow morning heading for Fairfield Lake. That should be a much more relaxing stop over. Nothing planned except getting some things caught up in the rig. I still need someone to install my external and internal antennas along with the amplifier. Will keep looking everywhere we stop to get this done. Haven't even taken them out of the boxes yet. I figure I will need to buy some coaxial cable, but will deal with that later.

Everyone have a great day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good Morning Carolb, Dawn and everyone else who follows,

Carolb, good to see you back on Coffee. Know you have been busy and trying to read through all the various post and threads on this forum is a full time job.

Dawn, good luck on your weigh in and I know you will do fine in your driving lesson.

It's a chilly morning here this morning and a light dusting of snow on hte ground. Winter is defiinitely working it's way in, but it will be awhile before it begins in earnest.

I"ve got gym class and a bit of shopping on my agenda for today. Yesterday was a just do what I wanted to day. Got the burner bibs on my stove all cleaned again, put away some stuff. put up some new vertical blind hangers and the other ones broke, took the dogs for a walk, cut the lumber for my Christmas signs and figured out a pattern and a paint scheme, watched a bit o a movie for a while, did some reading etc. So was busy day, but enjoyable.

Thank you for all the compliments on JudyJb's Campsite sign. She got a prototype actually and I am not sure that the decals I put on are going to stay there but if it works for her, I'm happy. I plan to make more, but will so some refinements and also not going to decals or if I do it will just be a few. They don't stay forever. And I plan to use the Bright Yellow paint and might even do another color that stands out as well. Projects for the winter. Right now I am into Christmas signs as I said and also will be doing some Winter Welcome signs as well. I"m not an expert at this stuff, but do enjoy doing it. Some people have fancy workshops with all kinds of woodworking equipment etc., I just have my brain, my miter saw, a sander and a saber saw, so I can only do certain things. Fortunately there are craft stores with some of the stuff I would like to use.

Red, sorry about that bump in the head. Maybe you should put one of those tripod stablizers on the kingpin or I have seen people surround that area with orange cones too and one time, somebody actually fitted an orange cone upside down to the kingpin. Same goes for TT hitches, they can be tripped over if one isn't careful.

Soos, glad you are settled in your winter home. Sounds like you and Kathy are enjoying each others company.

Barbzee, I'm enjoying reading about your "toaster" episodes with Dawn and your "cooking" class. Sounds like you two are having fun. Hope that toaster isn't too hot for you

Lorie and Ernie are supposed to be on the road today. Safe and happy travels to you both.

Yep, next week is Turkey Day. I nave no plans here. May have friends passing through the day before or so, on their way to the U.P. and over to WI for dinner with their daughter and family. I'm going to fix a turkey, but that's about all. Want some turkey leftovers :) Love cold turkey sandwiches. Plan to freeze some to take north with me in three weeks. And of course I have to have my pumpkin pie. Will freeze some of that to take too.

Well, time to get rolling, want to wash hair and maybe do some shopping before I head to gym. Today is the only day I will do gym this week, due to appts. on the other two days they have the class. Missed Monday and will miss Friday as well. Oh well, I will be missing a whole months worth when I leave. Well, not quite as over the holidays they don't have it as regularly depending on how the holidays fall.

So y'all have a wonderful day out there.

Good morning all, Lots of talk about Turkey day and the food. Yum  I used to love Thanksgiving. When I was a kid I loved running around with all the cousins. Hiding under the table while mom and her sisters cooked and sipped wine. We'd reach up and grab black olives off the relish tray and put one on each finger then chase each other with our "monster hands". Always careful to avoid uncle Ben (big as and disposition of a bear). Uncles in the living room with their scotch or bourbon discussing politics like three bulls trying to dominate the hill! Older cousins trying to ignore younger cousins. Grandma in the rocker just smiling. I now know what the smile was about :P

Raising my family I always tried to recreate that wonderful, fun, get Togethers for the holidays. Never the same, but a brand of our own. Oh, how I miss all that. Kids are spread all over the country. Their father and I no longer together. No bonds between new husband and my kids. His kids always spend holidays with their spouse's family. So I am having a pity party and feeling very alone and isolated. I always thought I'd be the grandma sitting in the chair smiling at all the wonderful chaos. But things change. People change. Stuff happens. Just venting :P

Off to grocery shop and Dr. appt. As people hit the roads to travel for the holidays stay extra alert while on the road. Everyone have a wonderful day. Aloha y'all

Good morning to all from a kind of cool San Carlos. But we will be heading south today on our way to Huatabampito about 170 further and again right on the beach. As soon as the driver gets up and we get things stowed away.
We have some delicious pastries this morning

Morning! It's was much warmer this morning due to cloud cover overnight. I think it's supposed to cool back off tonight. Mark says that his calendar says the Leonid meteor shower is supposed to be tonight. If that's the case, I can almost guarantee it will not clear off! :x

We are going to another DOG, a local one, this weekend. I told Mark today to think about Friday night dinner. And I've mentioned the cornbread dressing I'm going to make for Saturday.

Karen - I realized that I'm going to have to go buy a ramp this week for Oscar to go camping this weekend. So, maybe Red can take your ramp for Tyler.

Ohh those pastries look wonderful!

And Turkey Day will be spent with my mom and my sister. My sister and I discussed instead of having a big meal, she would do a casual brunch and invite friends to watch the parade. Well my mom replies with a list of things she will make and oh, but the way, what should she bring for Thanksgiving dinner. I say if we are still hungry after our brunch, we go out.

well talking food again are we...hey red , I hear ya about the empty feeling..happens to me too being I'm in Florida and family is back north. But if you're in the area you are most welcome to join me. Italian style. ..bring an appetite...

Morning has been busy for me had to my cooking for the critters and now I'm good for 10 days. Next is put something together for me to just heat up..I tend to cook big and that helps cause I can relax for a few weeks. Love that microwave. Zap and dinner is ready. Hahaha..and I have my pasta cooker. (You all remember ) that cooks up great pasta...

It's gloomy here as we is fixing to get some rain...needed...and before the week is out I will have bought my laptop..much needed cause I enjoy the Ipad but certain things you just can't do!

Finished another Cowl. This pattern moves quickly and now one more to go and I'm gonna sew them together and wrap. Then on to cookie baking...have all my tins for shipping and boxes too..

Don't know if you all knew but 5 members of my family lost their homes because of Sandy and we just now got our company up and running..so it's going to be really hard on all of us...holidays are gonna be hard felt..and last but not least most of you remember when I stopped doing the Morning Coffee Room..was because of our first cousin being murdered..

Well we now received notice that it will be coming to trial inDecember..it's been 3 years and a lot of things have been happening..I can not go into but ask that you keep us in your prayers..it's gonna be horrible that we have to relive it again..and with everything else going on I just pray that we can get through it..

Ok bent your ears and most likely strained your eyes...again thanks for being there!

God's blessing shine down on all

Good Morning,

I, too, am concerned we don't know about JoanE, but if she is recuperating and didn't ask her daughter to post, we just have to continue to wonder.

I am still cleaning out the 5er to put it up for sale - taking much longer than I'd like, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Red, I also always thought I'd be enjoying holidays with family. After my mother died in 1978, since I am the oldest (by 9/10 years), we continued the get togethers until one year my sister dropped out. Then Steven and I were on the road fulltime tho we did go home for one Christmas. After he passed away, I eventually found myself spending Christmas alone. Being on the road, I have no expectations of anyone so no hurt feelings. Steven and I met on Dec. 26 and were married the following year on Dec. 30, so December is a rough month. Enough.

I did get my airplane reservation yesterday for April 26 to Maui with a good friend, her DD and SIL and their 1 yo son. Fun!

There is so much going on with everyone I find it hard to keep up! I do keep you all in my prayers.

The veggie stand is open today so we will go there plus take another backseat full of stuff to storage.

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Good Morning... coffee is almost gone wow those sweets look good... none here sorry...
Zee things have sure been rough... but your spirit is strong...
Red new traditions are what you can start... when we lived in FL for 8 1/2 years we did not have family near so we would invite 10 to 12 others over and we all shared food... that was our new tradition but that too passed... one year on the way to FL Sarah and Wendy and I made a thanksgiving together... it was a fun day they came to my Bright Hope and we pigged out!! every year is different... but it does bring back fond memories of the family get to gathers... and enough sadness to make one weary... take care and vent here good place...
Yesterday was a 'wash' good term... I stripped my bed mattress pad and all got the towels and other things did none load got another in the machine and oh no I thought the machine was broken... but alas it was not the water was out in the park... someone broke a water line and they had to shut down the water that was at 11:30am... came back on at 5:10 another break at 5:20 soooo left the laundry in the washer and on the floor and watch tv until bed time... today the water is on and the laundry is all done but one load to dry... whew glad that is done...
My fire place feels so good and looks so nice... I love watching the flames...
Take care everyone and have a great day
Kathleen
Anita I also am concerned that we have not heard... in another forum we have a room that is not able to be viewed by others it is password protected most of us listed contact numbers... that may be an idea here... then one person could contact the missing person and post for others to see if things were ok or not...

Good morning from cool and cloudy central Florida. We may get some rain today, so I stowed my folding bike and cushioned rocking chair back inside the big compartment.

My ears are slowly clearing out so I can hear a little better. Haven't had an ear & sinus infection that bad in years. Hope it's even more years before the next one.

Joan said in her original post that she hoped to be back online in about two weeks. It hasn't been that long since her surgery, so we'll have to be patient.

No appointments today, no big ambitious plans either. May look at the atlas and think about my next big trip...that's always fun.

Have a great day!

Good morning all. Carol I LOVE that sunset photo looks like a watercolor, and of course the pastries look yummy! Zeee will be thinking about you at this time, I know it will be hard. Red sending you a big HUG and hope you do enjoy Thanksgiving. I'm so happy my cousin invited us to their Thanksgiving dinner, Michael has no family except a few cousins he never sees and he loves going to family dinners even if he doesn't know many of the people. I have two brothers nearby but we don't do holidays much together.
Well the sun that was out earlier hadsdisappeared and it's time for me to finish getting dressed to meet a couple of friends from high school for lunch.

Chilly 41 here in SoCal, but it's supposed to be up to 84 today. That's a good thing since I have to get the RZR out and cleaned up for the sand dunes trip. Leaving on Friday for that and I can't wait. It's one of my most favorite trips of the year. Lots to do today, plus I have to go and get the gas jugs filled and a last minute trip to the grocery. It's a lot easier this year since I didn't move back into the house when I got back from the summer trip, so the coach is pretty much ready to go. Not much sense in it for just 6 days. I'll load the trailer Friday and hopefully get out of here by noon or so. I boondock the first nite with friends either at the Slabs or the Indian Casino in Indio. Still waiting on word as to what they want to do. I vote for the casino!! Pretty good buffet there.

Thanksgiving has changed over the years for me, too. When the kids were home and then for a couple of years after they were gone I made a huge dinner for them and Jack's family, usually about 25 people or more. Then we joined a jeep club and it was Thanksgiving at the sand dunes with them. I'm thankful that I'm still included in that family, in fact there are a couple of widows that still go there to play in the sand and have fun for the week. The great thing about this club is, even tho you lose a spouse, you're still considered part of the jeep family and are invited to any and all rides and functions. And made to feel so very welcome. They even come find me when I get lost in the dunes! I may even make their Christmas party this year, haven't been since Jack passed. Things change, and all we can do is make the best of what we have and start new traditions.

Liz, glad your ear infection is better, and yes, I agree about Joan, but we can't help but worry about her.

Hope everyone has a perfectly wonderful day and if you're traveling, wheels down!!

Holidays can indeed be hard. I was planning to head east and spend a week with my boys, but it didn't work out. I'm feeling deprived! I'll get together with my sister and her family, which will be nice. It will be a small group this year. Often we have a group of international students over for holidays, but we're all tired this year.

Zee, I'm so sorry your family is having such a rough patch. All good thoughts your way.

Dawn, the slide show screensaver is so much fun! I have it on the desktop now, and since that computer is on all day, I see something happy every time I walk past. It's lovely.

I'm glad your ears are getting better, Liz. Infected sinuses and ears are so miserable.

Good roads to all today.
