Repairs at Fleetwood Customer Service Center

As some of you know, i have had a lot of warranty issues, including a door that would not latch and lock, steps that were bent and rusting from deploying and hitting a log because the door flew open at 55 MPH and hit a log, a drawer that kept flying open and had bashed a big hole in one of the kitchen cabinets, a shower door handle that was broke, etc.

After trying to deal with dealers who were uncooperative and incompetent, I finally decided to take advantage of the factory service center in Indiana. This has been a good decision. So far they have fixed the water pump, put an additional latch on the drawer and adjusted several other cabinets and drawers, fixed the door that would not latch or lock, installed a brand new set of steps, enlarged the hole where the sewer hose goes through to make it easier to use, fixed the shower door handle, and a bunch of other things.

They also did an oil change and the 26 point check that is supposed to be done at 14,000 miles, which I am fast approaching. That I have to pay for myself, obviously, but it is very convenient to get it done here.

This is my second day here and we are waiting for two parts—a new dinette table leg and the replacement wooden panel for the bashed in kitchen cabinet. I am hoping to get it all done and be gone by the end of today. I have spent two nights in their parking lot with just electric hookups, so I am anxious to get on the road.

One interesting thing: I have been constantly worried about the level of water in my fresh water tank. After four days of showers and some dishwashing, it still shows I have half a 60 gallon tank. I was really worried I had much less, but he did a visual check and showed me how to view the tank, and it is correct!! Apparently, I am just VERY good at water conservation!

Can't stand the cold here, and am looking forward to heading to Florida after I visit friends this week and family this weekend.

We have had several Fleetwood products over the years and always found them to be very helpful and good at customer service.
i think most new coaches have a few glitches to be fixed. just like new homes and sometimes new cars.
Glad you are getting most everything taken care of now.

Down to the very last item! This service guy has been terrific and I will write a letter about his work.

Last thing is replacing the panel on the side of the stove with a new panel. This is very tricky because he is trying to slide the new piece in without damaging or removing the trim. Hope it works and i can get on my way soon.

Not only have they fixed everything "plus" but there have been no complaints about how it is all my fault and I shouldn't have done this or that!! Nice to be treated well, compared to the hemming and hawing and refusals I got from various dealers.

Absolutely wonderful news Judy. I am so glad that you are getting everything resolved with no acrimony. Your patience has been well served. It will be so nice to have all this worry behind you although you have done a fantastic job of putting it aside and continuing to enjoy your travel.

Judy, this would be great to post in the kudos/kudnos section of the maintenance room. I could move this, or you could do a separate post there - whichever you prefer. But when we get good OR bad service, we all like to know about it and that's the perfect place to tell.

I am relieved for you.

I already am tired and do not want to deal with our local dealer service for warranty repairs (or anything!). Our factory is also in Indiana and we were hoping that we'd have to go out Indianapolis for my husbands employer again and then take advantage... not sure we'll be so lucky.

Those of you at the Texas GTG saw the hole in my cabinet where the large drawer under the refrigerator kept opening and bashed a large hole. The dealer told me it was my fault because I had overloaded the drawer, even though he couldn't tell me what the limit was.

Here is the before:

The service guy, spent well over an hour just tearing out the old panel. Then he very carefully cut a piece of paneling to size and slipped in the left side under the molding, then bowed it slightly and slipped in the right side under the right molding! He then very carefully slid it up to the top to leave the right gap at the bottom! This took at least another hour. Here is the amazing result:

They also put a second latch on the drawer. It is very difficult to open now, but I am still going to keep the pillow there when I drive. Then, I am going to get a door kick panel in brushed nickle and glue and nail it in place on the cabinet where the hole used to be, just in case. Then I will comfortable not having the pillow there. I know it is probably overkill, but I do not want to do this again--two whole days sitting in a repair shop!!

And I will post something in Kudos. The best part of dealing with the factory was the lack of complaints or irritation at having to fix things. I am not going to deal with dealers any more than I have to in the future. They are horrible.

Oh, and I was so stressed out after these two long days in the service bay, that after I got my propane tank refilled, I stopped at a grocery store and stocked up on chocolate and desserts, so now I have a full freezer of goodies and and a full tummy!

Glad you finally got your repairs done right. Just think that 2 days is nothing with what you would have had to spend at a dealer and probably not got half the things fixed. I had a place keep my motorhome a month for 3 small problems. Don't know what I would do if I was living in it.

The problem with dealers is that they don't have parts. The big advantage of this factory service place is that the parts warehouse is right here.

Had I gone to a dealer it would have been a several week wait for any parts. Also the factory guys are more experienced on a specific product so they know what they are doing.
