Do you remember the Dr. Suess book, " The Things You'll See on MulBerry Street" ?? I think we should have a topic to post the fascinating things we see at RV parks or CGs.

On the back of this tractor in very large graphics, " Nowhere to Go and All Day to Get There". I talked to the wife and she explained they have been full timing with the tractor truck and 5er for a couple years. She had to take the big tractor grocery shopping What creative thinking! It is a Smart Car and the bumper says "Joy Ride". I saw at least 3 Smart cars being used as TOADs.

My son says he wonders if this guy's insurance agent has seen all this stuff he is pulling. Looks awfully top heavy.

Ooh, I love this thread. We have a Smart...have yet to install the hitch- but we'll be amongst those that use a Smart for a Toad- ----Toadly Smart, eh?

I LOVE those little Smart Cars. They are rated by the Insurance Institute as one of the safest in a crash - basically a steel cage surrounds you and they are seriously cute. My car is paid for and I don't NEED another car - I DON'T.

I can answer this. Unless the smart car has changed, previous years can be towed all wheels down. It's a strange automatic. In other words as the driver it appears automatic, but somehow it's still charging gears like a stick.

How do they get that car up on the truck? If someone has to drive it that would be scary to me. The day I drive a Smart car everyone will be driving Smart cars.

In the storage area under the smart car are ramps. They just drive up the ramps. I got a serious look inside. She keeps a log book for people to sign as she gets lots of curios people. Even cops stop her and she offers to let them sit in it. They have an incredible safety rating....like a roll bar cage. Even 6 footers say it is an OK fit. But, I'm still with Martha. Until the other cars are smaller I want something that feels like I'd survive a wreck.

I've learned over the years that the size of a car often says nothing about how someone fits in it. 6+ footers usually fit very comfortably in a Corvette, for example. But my 6'10 1/2" friend, usually has to buy smaller cars than anyone would expect to have room for his legs. He has to sit in every car to determine whether he can drive it. Traveling on business once, the rental company didn't save the car he had reserved (which he knew he could fit in) and gave him an upgrade. To drive that car he had to have the window open and his knee out the window. Someday I'll ask him if he has ever sat in a Smart car - I have, and don't think it would work for him - but most don't ...

If I could have found a smart car at the right price when I bought my toad, would have gotten one. The negative for me was that they say you HAVE to stop every so many miles to do something - and while that shouldn't be a problem, I'd worry that I'd screw that up ... I like simple.

Mark drove a little 3 cylinder car when we first started dating. He looked like he was wearing the car, but it had amazingly a lot of leg room for him. We had to rent a car one vacation and ended up with a Taurus - which was ok until it was my turn to drive - he couldn't fit in the passenger seat!!!

I heard that Smart cars require premium gas. Does anyone know if that's true?
