it's here ....almost

Postby snowball » Tue Nov 13, 2012 12:37 am

Tomorrow is the day for my solo trip!!! oh my and already things aren't
going as planned...thought that the truck and 5th wheel would be hooked up already NOT
son came over to help hook it up he as never even helped and it was dark so decided to wait till I call him
or I find someone here to help
there is gobs of snow on the slides need to deal with that somehow..I've never been on the roof
or the ladder. the ladder is too high for me to get on and I exceed it's weight limit...so hopefully dd will
be able to run over for a few and remove the snow
won't take long to get the rest done dumped the tanks this evening but the end is buried in the snow
so think that when I put in the slides will take care of the hose then
can't find the thing that my brother used to get the back braces down so need to call him and see where
he told me he put it...
and we are suppose to be out of here by 11:00 hmmm that might be reaching a bit
could use any and all prayers or good thoughts as this is a terrifying thought to go it all by myself

Sheila, take a deep breath then do things one step at a time. I have faith in you. And then get yourself south.

Let me know when you get settled in at q. If I'm still jobless will see about a day trip to visit. And with a job, I expect to have days off. I think a visit would be nice.

You can do it, Sheila. Like Beth said, take your time, one thing at a time, double check everything, and don't let a deadline make you hurry. I know I don't have to say , "be careful."

Praying for a safe and uneventful trip. Check in and let us know you are ok.

I thought the whole point of Rving was 'no deadlines' (at least not hard & fast ones)... That was 1 of my golden rules that I established on my rush trip bringing my van home from FL
Anyway, it will all get done, just take your time & as Liz said 'double-check' everything.
Relax & hit the road when ready.
This is from someone who grew up always being extremely prompt :) It has taken me a while to trust that God is guiding my comings & goings & I will be where I need to be at just the right time. :D Still learning... ;)
Let us know when you get there - I join the chorus in saying 'be safe' & Enjoy the journey!

First off, Sheila, you are going to do fine. We women always do when it comes down to the crunch. Forget deadline for leaving that park. They want you out quick they surely have someone who can come shovel your snow off for you. I would make sure all is ready inside, then do outside stuff. Don't let yourself be rushed, do things in steps. Everything will all work out. You've moved on many times, you know the routine, it's just you have to do it all this time, so it will take you a little longer to pull out. When every thing is all set, you think, double check without distraction and you're on your way.

We all have great confidence in you, you can do this and you will do fine, your going to have a great trip and the satisfaction you'll have when you get settled in Q , there just will be no words for it.

We're all pulling for you, so many of us have been in your shoes, know how you are feeling right now, push those thoughts etc out of the way and just do your thing.

Yea Sheila !!! You can do it !!!!
Wishing you safe travels, and ENJOY !!

and if it is another day....you will still eventually be out of there and heading south......away from the snow  to bask in some sunshine. Keep breathing and you will make it, you don't lose your ticket south on this ride because of small road blocks in the journey. You have made it this far, keep moving forward. :)

And if it will help, make a list of what you need to do, and check things off. That way when you think nothing is getting done, you will have proof. And one piece of advice - before you do finally pull out, make a circuit around your truck and rig and look at everything. Don't forget to look up and look down. I have caught things like the steps still being out, the vent covers being open, chocks still in place - just by doing a walk around. Then do it again going the other way.

I also have a routine when unhooking that I try to incorporate at some point. I have city water, fresh water, hot water heater, electrical hookup, then sewer from front to back. So I start with unhooking city water, filling fresh water if needed, turning off hot water, then unplugging electrical and stowing cord, and then checking valves on sewer (since I don't usually have FHU and am not dumping at my site).
