Santa Monica Pier, CA (Bonus ENDEAVOUR fly over)

I know you've all probably been bombarded with images and it's old news but I thought I'd share- both for the images of the pier (those who've never been) and for the images of the historic fly over. :D

We got there super early to get great parking and in anticipation of incredible crowds...the crowds weren't anything like I thought they'd be.

Finally, after a delayed arrival, here she comes! The crowd goes NUTS!

Most of the crowd leaves not realizing or not caring that Endeavour will make another pass...and then even a third is vaguely seen in the distance over the ocean. We stayed to watch every second of it.

I saw it on the front end of that flight. It left Houston that morning about 7 am just as I was going to work. I came over the freeway just in time to see it take off. It turned and flew over Johnson Space Center one more time. I wasn't sure of it's route but when I saw it turn north over JSC, I pulled across 3 lanes of traffic - yes, I checked first and there was no one behind me on all 3 lanes - so that I could pull off and shoot. Unfortunately, it was pretty far away for my 270 mm lens.

Oh, did I say it was just at sunrise?

How fortunate to see that and take pics!
My BIL (bro-in-law) lived just across the street and and a few buildings up from the pier. We walked the beach every morning when we visited him.
Also walked to Venice Beach. :o  Wow, talk about sensory overload! LOL

Awesome pics! I have never been to Santa Monica Pier so those pics were great to see as well.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
