Veteran's Day Sunday...

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Sun Nov 11, 2012 7:53 am

To my fellow Vets, Happy Veteran's Day and thank you for your service....Please remember those who didn't return home and I'm proud to be a Vet....

Okay, that said, Good morning, everyone.....Cold here in NM this morning and Spinner decided that I just had to have a "windy fresh air wake up" today.. ..so am now sitting with my " cotton candy pink" robe on with the heat going and of course, drinking my coffee...

Last day to be just lazy, then tomorrow and Tuesday, getting ready to move again....will post the "plans" later....

Have a great day, all...

thanks for puttin on the coffee Lori and good morning to everyone!
a big thank you to all the Veterans, if you are one or if you know one, I truly thank you for your service.
I have no plans today but can think of several things that need doing, and the biggest one staring me in the
face is to clean off my desk. That task has been on my chore list for two weeks so guess I better get to it.
Vegged a little in front of the tv yesterday, watched a dvd I bought at halloween clearance for 99cents.
Children of the Corn IV and it gave me chills! I do like a good scary movie from time to time so thats another
movie added to my collection.
My laundry is all done up, really enjoyed having the convenience of the little dryer yesterday, made it nice
and warm in my room :D but this morning I had to turn on the little space heater just to take the chill off
my feet. Tile floors are a real negative in the winter. Guess its time to get the rugs back out.
No word from Soos yet? She must not have internet yet. Hopefully we'll see a post from her soon.
Off to read up on posts and blogs and check email. Ya'll have a great day.

Hats off to all veterans here, and a special thanks to my Son-in-Law who will retire after 20 years of service at the end of this month. He has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jabouti (sp) on the horn of Africa, Bosnia, and other places in the volatile Middle East. And he will likely return to service doing contract work/training for the military. Proud of all our service men and women active and vets.

I am still suffering from a major double ear/sinus infection. Came on suddenly, but leaving too slowly. There is so much fluid in my middle ears that I can't hear a thing even with my new state-of-the-art hearing aids. Very frustrating not being able to communicate. I went back to the dr. yesterday and was put on a different antibiotic, but she said it could take 6 weeks for the fluid to clear from my ears. So I guess I will hibernate in my RV for awhile and do my communicating online. Sure is cutting into my fun.

Still waiting to hear from Joan, hope she is able to check in soon.

Hope all have a nice day.

Good Morning and a special God Bless You to all of our service men and women... my father, uncle, two brothers and my sister as well as a nephew were proud service people... they all came back but my heart breaks for those young men and women's families that were not as lucky... our brightest and best and youngest fight for our country...
My coffee is very good... I went over to see the progress on my grandson's house yesterday! wow it sure is coming along... they laid the tile in the kitchen yesterday... grouting will be another day as the tile must sit for a day or so to settle and dry before they can do that... I will go see my other grandson's house hopefully today...
My day is first coffee then church and ABF...
From Windy Windy Normal I send you al hopes for a good day...

Lori and all, I am grabbing a large diet coke and heading up the road towards Columbus this morning. i worked all last week and spent yesterday running the errands that I could get done last week...because I was working. SO glad that I am retired and don't have to to this for more that a little at a time. I remember those years of thinking that it would never end. :? But here I am! :)

Between the ever present errand running and laundry I managed to bath, clip/groom  and dremel nails on all three dogs. Remi never looks as cute with a new hair cut but his curly hair is much more manageable..... :) And snuggles are so much nicer when you smell fresh!

Off this morning to help evaluate a litter of English Cocker puppies for a friend. I will get a puppy fix and spend the afternoon talking with dog show folks, some of whom I haven't seen for awhile and a few I have never met! The evaluation program is very defined and needs individuals that the puppies have never met to complete. I have only participated in a formal evaluation process once before but found it very informative. Any of us that see ECS (English Cocker Spaniel) puppies usually fall back on some of the principles everytime we meet a new one.

The sun is shining and I am going to grab a clean fresh smelling "ride along" Remi and head out the door and get on the road north.

Good Morning to All from sunny Kino, MX - didn't have Internet most of yesterday as it was very cloudy and windy most of the day. Even a little cooler
We have a fresh pot of hot coffee and more delicious Mexican pastries on hand - until I eat them all and we have to make another run to the bakery.
Did absolutely nothing yesterday, well not quite true cleaned, finished my necklace and watched NASCAR - Bill is hoping I'm getting my fill as I won't see any more until we are home in the spring. But today we'll also be watching two soccer games.
Remembering all the Veterans with thanks. My Dad and Uncles and an Aunt were in WWII. My cousins son has been in and out of Iraq and Afaganistan for several years. She holds her breath every time he goes.
Tomorrow we'll be leaving her and going south a ways to San Carlos. Have to drive right through one of the busiest parts of Hermosillo - I hate that part.

Good Morning. Many thanks to our past and present Veterans.

It’s a chilly one here today also…17* and windy. Didn’t take Radar long to go outside and do her business and then run back in the house and jump in bed. Certainly glad that I can just open the door and let her out and not have to face the elements myself!

First I want to welcome all the new members of the forum. I’m an active reader but not an active poster. Not that I’m antisocial…just not much to say because I’m still working full time and my life basically consists of work and home…not much interesting to contribute.

DH just walked out the door with half my small kitchen appliances. He and his cronies are making a brunch at the lake club cabin. Wives are invited but I declined. The place is pretty rustic….only has electricity..a fireplace that only seems to heat a four foot area right in front of it…have to pump the water at the sink and an outdoor biff that has seen it’s better days. A real man-cave. I just wasn’t feeling quite that out-doorsy today. Also they need a resident cat…it would be well fed if it was a good hunter. Actually I think they keep it the way it is so the wives don’t attend! Besides…I think I’m going to paint one of the bathrooms…if I get a surge of energy.

Thanks to all for the pictures of the TX GTG. I certainly enjoyed them. Maybe someday I’ll get out of the tundra for the winter and get to attend one. Until then I’ll just have to continue reading about them and enjoy the visits from forum members who stop by on their way to and from the big stone faces!

Have a great day.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Lori - thanks for sharing that - I was laughing and crying at the same time! And no, you will never see that in mainstream media.

I've got lots to do today and not enough time to do it. So why am I on here? I'm going to try and cook cornbread and then cornbread dressing in my DOs for a potluck at work tomorrow. And I need to do some more scrapping. I had hoped to have had a scrapbook finished for my niece's Scout leader by Thanksgiving and that's just 2 weeks away now - eek!

Great video! Thanks Lori!

Wow, what a difference a day makes! Yesterday was beautiful and mid 60's. Today is cold, blustery and snizzling.
Steve and I went out last night to a bar on the lake. We sat outside by the docks for awhile and it was just like a warm summer night! Later a thunderstorm moved thru and the temps started dropping like a rock!

Have the day off today and have lots to do around my apartment but am lazy this morning. I bought a little electric heater the other day that looks like an old fashioned wood burning stove. Got a great deal on it and it's really cute! You can have both the flames and the heat or just one or the other on. Right now I just have the "fire" going. Makes it so cozy in here!

Stopped at my dad's after work yesterday and found my box of winter clothes. So that will help a lot for the colder temps moving in.

Been having some back pain/stiffness lately (sore muscles) so I started watching/doing my new 'Yoga For the Rest Of Us' DVD and made it thru the whole thing! It is specifically for back pain so hopefully will help with that soon.

Hope you all have a good day, and hoping we hear something soon about Joan.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I see I missed morning coffee, but better late than never, I say!

Goog and Melissa drove us and the two dogs to Melbourne's newly opened dog beach today, and it was wonderful! It's a beautiful huge sandy beach with a free parking lot leading to the ramp down to the beach. As both my dogs hate water with a passion, I don't know how much fun they had, but I sure loved wading in the somewhat high surf! We stayed for quite a while, walked the beach, and then went to a little restaurant nearby that has a dog-friendly outside terrace where Kathy bought us all lunch. All in all, it was a really fun day!

Tomorrow Kathy and I will go to my house in the Orlando area and unpack the truck, call people to have cable turned back on, call the bug people to do their yearly house check, and call the house insurance people to get the place inspected for a new policy with a new company.

Almost time for bed now....I am still stuffed from the late lunch we ate, so need no supper.

What surgery did Joan have? I have had no time to read back posts yet, but hope to get caught up later this week back at the house.

Sorry about your ears, Liz-----that has to be no fun whatsoever. Do you get dizzy with that fluid in there?

Happy Veteran's Day to all.

Happy travels!
